With spring break on the horizon, I thought it would be fun to share my poolside essentials, including the two new coverups I added to my closet this season.
You may not think of Zappos as the place to go for your vacation gear, but they actually have a wide selection of swimwear, coverups, sunglasses, hats, and more. Also, right now they’re running a big Spring Sale on top name brands for the whole family.
Robin Piccone tunic coverup (size 4-6) // Madewell packable straw hat (S/M) // Tory Burch sandals (8) // Hat Attack tote (similar option) // similar DIFF sunnies
When I’m hanging out by the pool, either on vacation or in my backyard, I’m all about the coverup. I usually only have one or two bathing suits in my seasonal closet, but I always have an assortment of coverups. They’re mostly what people see, anyway, so I like to have a variety.
This tunic coverup is feminine and pretty, and I like that it shows glimpses of my bathing suit underneath. In fact, I like this one so much, I kept both the black and the white.
I love the lace-up design in the front and the subtle texture to the fabric, and it has a slightly curved hemline with slits on each side. It’s easy to slip on and go, and it runs true to size or maybe a little big. I have it in size 4-6.
A straw hat is a fun accessory by the pool, but it also offers some sun protection. This one is the Madewell brand, and it’s a packable style so it folds up neatly into your suitcase and pops right back into shape!
And of course, a tote is necessary for carrying all your gear to and from the pool. Unfortunately, my stripe tote is low inventory, but Zappos has a lot of other good options, like this and this.
I’m also wearing my trusty Tory Burch Miller sandals in the sand patent. These are six years old and still going strong. They seriously don’t even look worn because the patent leather is so durable.
The other coverup I purchased is this high neck cover-up dress with the side tie. I love this one for a more casual vibe. The fabric is really lightweight and soft, and it comes in tons of colors. I’m wearing the Waterfall color in the size XS/SM.
R coverup dress (XS/SM) // Havaianas flip flops (7/8) // Brighton tote // Vera Bradley beach towel // similar DIFF sunnies
And how fun is this Brighton burlap tote with the lemon motif? There’s a whole collection of these totes with different designs, and it’s a nice size when you don’t need to carry a ton of stuff.
My beach towel is a nice soft, thick one, and it has a different pattern on each side. I love how the colors tie into the ones I’m wearing here.
For a more casual flip flop, I like these Havaianas. They’re comfortable and durable, and they come in a bunch of fun colors as well as some nice neutrals. This is the Sand/Grey in the women’s size 7/8.
Also, these sunglasses are by DIFF Eyewear, and I’m very impressed with how lightweight and comfortable they are.

Love Zappos and everything you featured here today! Are the sunglasses you’re wearing the Lizzie?
No, Zappos doesn’t carry the style I have, unfortunately. I have these: https://shopstyle.it/l/bEYRC
When I’m looking for a specific piece of clothing, Zappos is often my go-to. I love the white cover-up! And while I don’t wear my Tory Burch flip-flops often due to plantar fasciitis, I always wear them around a pool. They’re perfect to pack because they take up so little room in a suitcase.
Yes, good point. They flatten down to almost nothing.
You look so cute in all these pictures and everything you featured. I don’t know how you packed all you did to Florida. You really did do lots of preplanning. I like both cover ups. I have not been in a bathing suit now for probably 3 years. I use to be in one all Summer boating etc. and as the years have gone by, its been less and less. Getting older. LOL It has been fun seeing your vacation pictures and clothes. I am looking forward to the transition outfits, as its suppose to get really rainy here coming up and its hard to dress. I think the biggest problem is footwear. I want to put my boots away and just wear mules etc. but they don’t work in the rain and rubber boots don’t always work for Spring outfits. Any suggestions? I’ve been going to my white sneakers, but then they get so dirty in the rain. Yesterday was freezing temps waking up and today close to it. Been doing anything fun while Caroline is home? I miss your family updates. 🙂
It was a lot of prep! Very stressful, but worth it once I got there. 🙂 Yeah, this time of year, I often wear leather mules and let my feet get wet or cold. I’m so over boots at this point.
Aaaaahhhh…. the beauty of Florida! I can picture how great it was being there in the warmth and sunshine! Your Florida photographer is fantastic; she takes great shots and you look beautiful and relaxed, despite “being on the job”. It was a great idea to head to Florida for these shoots. Those cover ups are terrific! Never thought of Zappos before for pool side accessories – thanks for the introduction!
Oh yeah, they have totally saved me at the last minute before vacation before. Since the shipping is so fast, I can get something here fast if I forgot to order sooner.
Hi there. What bathing suit are you wearing?
It’s an old one, but this is it: https://rstyle.me/+l4SPsI5ygFDetSbMhq8DWA
Great pictures, you look great. Love the Brighton tote! I have a Brighton handbag I got on sale several years ago and it is my favorite, has held up great but have yet to find a sale on them since as they are pricey. The tote is not priced bad, that would also work for everyday, not just poolside. Have a great weekend!
You look great! This post was probably a lot of work, but you made it feel like fun. I almost feel the warm sun! Random question- do you have a link or a picture of your powder room wallpaper? I couldn’t find it in the archives and I loved that look. I look forward to your posts every day- thanks for all you do!
It was kind of fun! Sarah made it fun, and I was able to relax by the pool for a couple hours later that day. 🙂
I don’t have a link to the wallpaper, I got it from my designer.
What size did you get in the Madewell hat? The older I get, the more careful I am with sun exposure!
It’s the small.
