Spring Fashion Try-On Haul

Good morning! I’ve got a brief spring fashion try-on haul for you today. It’s short because I haven’t been doing much trying on of clothes recently, but I wanted to get these out to you because I’ve had some of these photos since before that dreadful incident. (The one where I mangled my ankle and was relegated to The Boot for an indeterminate amount of time. I still have no idea how long I’ll have to wear it, but it’s been three weeks so far.) Let’s dive right in!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

Rails Audrina Floral Print Dress

at Nordstrom (S) // 25% off at Bloomingdale’s (S) // Tory Burch sandals (8)

I was drawn to the design of this dress more than the print. I don’t care for small scale florals; they’re too dainty and sweet for my personal style preferences, but I do like the color palette. I thought it might be a nice option for those looking for a wedding guest dress this spring.

This is the small, and I’m sucking everything in to take these photos. I really need the medium, but then it would be waaaay too low-cut. It could probably be taken up in the shoulders, though, which would help alleviate that problem. I love the way it’s got the v-neck in the back, as well.

VERDICT: I sent this back, of course. It’s just not for me, but it’s a lovely dress if it appeals to you. The fabric is thin, and there is no lining, but with some lightweight shaping shorts, I don’t think it would need a slip. It’s very lightweight and breezy and comfortable.

Tory Burch Slingback Espadrille Wedge Sandal

onsale at Saks (8) // 25% off at Tory Burch (8) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6)

Before I injured my ankle, I ordered a bunch of dressy sandals and slingback pumps with the intention of adding a few to my spring wardrobe. I always find myself in need of dressy black sandals, and I thought these would be a nice option to have. They really are beautiful, and comfortable too. I love the criss-cross straps and slingback design, and I’m always a fan of a wedge heel on sandals.

For some reason, they disappeared from the Nordstrom website, but they’re available on the Tory Burch website, and included in their Spring Event (25% off $200 or 30% off $500.) And there are a few sizes available at Saks, where they’re marked down, but not included in the Friends & Family sale. (TIP: Use code FREESHIP for free shipping over $200 at Saks.) There is also a silver pair at Bloomingdale’s, which is eligible for Power Points.

VERDICT: I still have these in my closet, but I doubt I’ll be wearing any sort of heel this summer, so I’ll probably send them back.

PAIGE Julia Ankle Strap Espadrille Platform Wedge Sandal

at Nordstrom (8) // at Bloomingdale’s (8) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6)

PAIGE Julia Ankle Strap Espadrille Platform Wedge Sandal

You may know PAIGE for denim, but she also makes a lovely shoe. (Check out these cork block heel slides!! If I’d seen them before my accident, I would have ordered those, as well.)

Anyway, I thought this pair was really fun for casual looks when I want a sandal that’s a little more leveled-up than flats. I was torn between the Dark Gold and this Cognac color, but I went with the cognac because it seemed a little more casual and I love this shade of beige. (They also come in Bone.)

I loved these as much as I thought I would. As you can see, the straps are a little loose on my low-profile feet, but they aren’t hard to walk in, and I’m not sure I even adjusted the buckle.

VERDICT: I was planning to keep these too, but I decided to send them back since I don’t know if I’ll be able to wear them this season.

Dolce Vita Selda Raffia Slide Sandal

at Nordstrom (7.5) // at Bloomingdale’s (7.5) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6)

I was excited to see these because they’re super stylish, and they also have a molded footbed for those of us who need a little extra support. Little did I know when I ordered these how much I would need that feature this summer!

The gold makes them slightly more elevated than a Birkenstock, but they’re almost as comfortable. They also come in black and a Natural/ Black Raffia combo, which is really fun.

VERDICT: Kept these, I actually ended up bringing them (well, the left one) with me to Florida, and I’ve been wearing it to the pool and sometimes with an outfit.

Sundry Vacation Tee

at Evereve (M) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6) // P448 John (39)

VERDICT: I loved this when I saw it on the Evereve website, but in person, it feel a little flat for me. It’s suuuuper soft and comfortable, very nice quality, but the cut of it is kind of boxy and plain. I decided to pass on this one.

Leo Palm Tank

at Evereve (M) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6) // P448 John (39)

Now, this one, I love! It’s thicker than I was expecting, but I don’t mind it. It’s such a fun subtle print, and it’s got a slightly edgy vibe, just due to the color combo. It’s a nice length for leaving tucked or untucked.

VERDICT: I ordered the small and the medium, and the small is okay, but I thought it might shrink, so I kept the medium.

Splendid Skye T-Shirt in Rossa

at Nordstrom (M) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6) // P448 John (39)

This tee is rather plain, but it’s very soft and comfortable, and I love the color. (It comes in a bunch of other colors, as well.) The cuffed sleeves are a nice detail, and it has a slightly rounded hemline, but it’s not so dramatic that it bothers me.

VERDICT: I kept this one, but I didn’t bring it to Florida. If I was super excited about it, I would have packed it… so maybe I will end up returning. I don’t know. I think the color will be nice to have.

Treasure & Bond Allover Print Short Sleeve Top

at Evereve (M) // KUT from the Kloth Meg (6) // P448 John (39)

I had this last year in a medallion print that I really loved, so I thought I might like this floral this year. It’s a little precious, but I don’t hate it. I’m not even sure why I’m making that face.

VERDICT: I haven’t returned it, but I still have the tags on, so we’ll see… What say you?

  1. I feel the same way about florals lately, can you give some examples of prints that aren’t as “ precious.?

  2. The wide legged, large cuff jeans is a hard pass for me. Nothing attractive about them at all. But to each their own right🤷🏻‍♀️

  3. Hope you are having a great time in FL. I enjoy following along on Insta Stories! I just love that T&B top. It’s an elevated summer top when a regular tshirt is just too casual! Love that it has little cap sleeves and the pintucking and pleat in the back are very nice. I also love the ivory-based floral. Happy Easter weekend!

  4. I got the answer to my question about whether the boot fits under wide leg jeans. I say return the top. I’m not into florals anymore. It’s tough being my age of 69. I don’t want to dress too young or too old. I’m keeping my eye on the navy tank top. Too cute. I like all the shoes. Be careful walking at the pool (where’s there’s water trails) with those slides. I hope you have a blessed weekend and Resurrection Day.

  5. Thanks for the post! I have the cuffed Megs also and now that my eye has adjusted to the shorter length on my tall frame, I’ve come to love wearing them. They’re soft, drape well, and they’re comfortable! I avoid small prints too… the T&B would be too dark for my coloring but with your dark hair, you pull it off well. And it matches The Boot—haha!

  6. Jo-Lynne,
Do you find that the Dolce Vita sandles run wide? I’m reading comments that they do. They are so cute but I have a narrow foot (haven’t been able to find a Birkenstock that stays on my foot).

  7. I like the pink tee shirt with cuffed sleeves. You may not have wanted it for Florida but for casual around the house and with shorts for Summer we all need more casual tees. I was just thinking that is lacking in my closet as I’m more drawn to elevated shirts, but then when I’m just hanging at home in the summer I don’t have one like this to grab.

  8. That palm tank is so cute!! Perfect for summer and vacations. I also like the Splendid tee. It’s sold out in several sizes at Nordstrom, but I found it on the Splendid website – and you can get a 30% off code if you give them your email. (You have to pay shipping, but it’s still a good deal). They have that Rossa color as well as others, including a pretty hot pink.
    I always enjoy your try-ons!

  9. I love florals of all shapes & sizes (my style is very boho) so I think the navy print shirt looks great on you!

  10. I love a small, all-over print, as I’m petite—big floral prints look overwhelming on me. So I love that first dress! But there’s something about that T&B top—maybe it’s the cut? For me, I’d probably prefer a lighter color or a more flowy style. On the raffia platform shoes, are the straps comfortable? They look nice, but I’d be concerned that they’d be hard to wear over time.
