Would you believe I still have outfits left that I didn’t get to post during 20 Days of Winter Fashion? I really went gangbusters with this style series!
I’ve been holding onto these pictures because every day there seems to be something else more important to post, but these pants are 40% off and sizes are getting depleted, so I decided it was time to share.
These pants look more like colored jeans than leggings. They have a front zip with button closure and 5 pocket styling like jeans, but they’re made of a super soft and stretchy brushed sateen that is a cotton/rayon/elastine blend.
They are super comfortable and flattering with tons of colors to choose from, and they make a nice alternative to jeans for casual wear. Also, some of you could probably get away with wearing these to work. For size reference, I have the 28.
I topped them with a grey cashmere turtleneck and my black leather jacket (similar) for a look I would wear to the mall or to run errands or to have coffee with a girlfriend.
I know I’ll get comments about my footwear of choice. Yes, it’s cold. Yes, I’m wearing mules with bare feet. What can I say? I like to live dangerously. Ha!
I would probably not wear socks with mules, but I suppose you could if they were thin and had a design to them or something interesting. I’m just personally not a fan. I’d rather put my mules away till next fall or save them for warmer days. We do sometimes get some mild winter weather here in PA, so i just keep them in my closet and wear them when it warms up for a few days or when I know I won’t be outside for very long.
Another footwear option with this outfit would be black ankle boots, or you could wear tall boots with it as well.
This Bernardo leather jacket has served me well. I got it last fall in a Trunk Club, and I wear it a ton. I’m a huge fan of this brand. The prices aren’t outrageous, and the quality is decent. This similar jacket is on sale right now, and it also comes in burgundy and brown. For size reference, I have a medium in mine.
Also, this turtleneck is super soft with a relaxed styling, and I have it in a small. For some reason, they haven’t put it on sale this year, and I guess they haven’t had to. It seems to be selling out. I also have the camel, and it’s a really pretty shade.
I accessorized with this layered station necklace and large hoops, and I carried my snakeskin bucket bag.

LOVE the outfit! *Almost* everything about it, lol. I’d probably skip the mules and wear black ankle boots or my black combat boots. I can’t stand to be cold, which is a problem living in northern Illinois. 😉 Every time you post a picture with that jacket, I debate with myself about whether to pull the trigger. I love it. I’m also really REALLY tempted by the gray cashmere turtleneck. And the necklace. Thankfully I’ve already got plum skinny jeans (Gap).
Melissa, I bought the Bernardo jacket a couple of months ago, and I love it!
Ha! Just what I need…more enabling! Thank you though!
How do the pants wear for you? I bought the same pair in black and they stretch out so much that they are baggy after only a short time. I really wanted to love them and really liked my old sateen leggings from Loft, but these were a disappointment. Love the plum and gray combo!
I have to admit, I didn’t wear them for very long, but I have some in grey from last year that I’ve worn a few times and didn’t think they stretched too bad. LOFT does tend to bag out, though, and maybe this year’s style isn’t the same as last?
Don’t you just hate it when that happens. I’m usually all, “what am I gonna’ post” and then I’ll get my act together and take a bunch of pics and hold on to them too long. What the heck. I love this combo and I’m definitely going to be recreating it.
Love the outfit and the color combos. I need to get a color of pants like these. Nice change from jeans.
I have these exact pants and love them! They are so soft and comfortable. My only complaint is that they tend to loosen up as the day goes on, but I still love them anyway! I bought them in the dark green too and I’ve gotten a TON of wear out of both of them this fall.
So glad you like them. I have them in grey as well.
Well, I have entered the “sensible shoe” stage of my life I guess! That, along with the fact that I live in Maine, means I would choose a different footwear option with socks being a must. Love the outfit otherwise.
I’m not sure I’ll ever enter the sensible shoe phase, haha, but I did photograph this look in October. I’d opt for ankle boots and socks right now. It’s been in the 20s in the mornings lately.
Love the plum with the grey and black. Love your look with the moto jacket. Wish I was “cool” enough to pull it off! 🙂
Ha! I bet you could pull it off. I don’t think I am very cool, but I do feel cool when I wear it. 😉
Love this outfit! I’m going to reverse the colors. They don’t have the plum pants in my size and I’ve been looking for a pair of grey jeans, so I ordered the grey ones you had on in your try on session the other day and I can wear my plum sweater with them. 😊
That would look great!
I almost ordered these over the weekend when leggings were the 60% off deal of the day. I even dug through countless pages of your blog looking for size recs, lol. I knew you’d shared them at some point. I ended up getting busy and forgetting, but now I’m tempted all over again, haha 🤦♀️
Ha! 60% off is pretty amazing! I missed that somehow.
I really think this outfit would look so much better with tall boots or booties. I think the flats make it look frumpy. Maybe have a post like this outfit with flats, booties and tall boots as ways to wear this type of outfit, especially with cold weather here. Love your post! 😊❤️
Love the plum pants/leggings! Yes, it looks like your feet should be freezing. I hope you had a good day!
Hi Jo-Lynne, These look great on you! I have a similar pair in corduroy and I get so many compliments on the color. It’s such a pretty shade this time of year when it is so drab outside. Cheers, Deborah
Thanks, Deb! I should really add some cords this year.
Kohl’s has brushed sateen skinny leg pants in several colors, if anyone is looking for another option. I have them in several colors. Love them!
