I’ve been on the lookout for casual dresses as an alternative to shorts in the spring and summer months, and a t-shirt dress fits the bill beautifully! It is so comfortable and easy to wear.
Just throw it on with sneakers or sandals, add a denim jacket or cardigan (if you tend to get cold indoors) along with a few simple accessories, and you’re good to go!
I’m personally a huge fan of the denim jacket option. It looks more modern and casual than a cardigan, but it all depends on your comfort level. Both certainly work.
If I were to wear a cardigan, I’d go for the longer style that is trending right now.
I already posted this dress on my Facebook page, and I got a lot of great feedback from women who have it saying how much they like wearing it and how well it washes up. It is definitely form fitting, so I sized up to a medium.
I often get asked if I wear a slip under my dresses. I usually don’t although I do have this one for times when I feel I need it. More often, I wear shaping shorts or these Jockey slipshorts.
My younger daughter absconded with my black and white Adidas Superstars (evidently they’re super trendy among the pre-teen set!) so I ordered myself a pair of the pink Gazelle style for summer. These do run large, as indicated on the website. I went down a whole size from what I normally wear in sneakers and they fit perfectly.
I found these a little bit softer and easier to break in that my Superstars. They aren’t as bulky either. They’re a great choice for a summer fashion sneaker.
I kept my jewelry simple with a mosaic pendant necklace and oversized faux pearl earrings.
This look is easy to alter to suit your lifestyle needs. Dress it up with a scarf and swap out the sneakers for sandals or a closed-toe espadrille, and you could wear it in a lot of office settings. It would be a great dress for teachers too.
Or wear it with your favorite fashion sneakers (Converse would be cute too!) or flip flops to run errands on the weekend, or put it on with wedge sandals when you’re going to a casual party or get-together. The possibilities are virtually endless!

Looks great! Love a tee shirt dress.
I said I wouldn’t get any more sneakers but I really want a pink pair, this is so so cute.
I love grey and pink together and this outfit is so cute! What a fun summer look! I hope you an stop by Ladies Who Link Up today! Peace!
My mom made all three of us on the blog, t-shirt dresses last year!! They really are the perfect casual dress!
And I really like the pink sneakers even better than the white ones! Like I need another pair though…ha ha!
I bought two pairs of sneakers for casual wear over the last year but am having a hard time finding no show socks to wear with them. I wear a size 10 shoe. Most no-shows say they fit up to a size 10. Untrue. (The ones that fit are more of an athletic style and show. Fine for the gym but not the casual look I want with a skirt or T-shirt dress.) The no shows that really don’t show aren’t quite big enough so they slip off constantly. Any suggestions, anyone? My 6ft tall daughter with size 12 feet just laughs at the idea that a pair of socks should fit. Lol.
Now that is a challenge I’ve never had to face! LOL. I like these but I am assuming they won’t work for you: http://rstyle.me/n/bymh5ngthw
I love outfit options like this! That dress is so cute on you and so versatile. Those pink sneakers are too cute!
Straight A Style
The pink sneakers are perfect! With the shirt dress! Just curious, how many pairs of sneakers/athletic shoes do you own? I hope that the vertigo is gone so that you can fully enjoy the weekend.
Ha, well, they tend to cycle through rather quickly. Always keep in mind that my shopping habits aren’t normal because I need new things to share all the time to keep my content interesting and current. Currently I have the Converse Shoreline, the all white Superstars, these pink Adidas, and my running shoes. I recently donated my Superga and I gave my black and white Adidas to my daughter. 🙂 Oh, I have the black Nikes that are more like walking shoes. I hardly wear them anymore tho. 🙁
Love this casual look! Your white denim jacket and sneakers are fabulous!
Great look, especially the pink with the grey t-shirt dress! I hope the vertigo is gone so that you can enjoy the weekend! (If there are two responses from me, I’m having technical challenges this morning).
Don’t think its you……Mine tried to send twice too.
Bought this dress and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
So good to hear!
How cute! You’ve inspired me to grab my grey t shirt dress from the back of the closet and put it back into rotation! 🙂
What size did you get in the dress, you look fabulous as usual.
It’s the medium. Thank you!
YEAH!!! An alternative to shorts. I remember seeing you style this and was going to order it but forgot. Thanks for styling it today. I just ordered it and got a great deal. It was on sale for $24 something, I had a $20 reward note and paid $7 shipping(which I don’t usually pay shipping on things) and so made it $11.25. Pretty good deal. I think its perfect for all occasions to dress up or down like you said. I ordered the grey also. 🙂 Thanks Jo-Lynne.
Goodness that looks adorable! And like super comfy too! I love the pink shoes with it!
So cute! And those sneakers! I love them.
I love what elements you chose to pair with this casual tshirt dress!
Much love from Napa Valley!

I adore this look, special those pink sneakers. I love those tee dresses for the summer time.
Thank you for hosting
I love a dress as an alternative to shorts. This is cute! I wear those jockey slip shorts too. I have black and nude and love them. Just feel a little safer with them on????
Wow! Thank you for showing this off today :)!! I ran to my nearest Old Navy and purchased a black one to wear with my Converses tomorrow!!! Can’t wait 🙂
Have a great weekend!
You are right: Smart choices with undergarments make this look comfortable and rocking. Thanks for the recommendations. What do you recommend for a bra with this dress?
I just wear my regular bra with this.
Hi Jo-Lynne, I came across this post a little bit late, but I would say that it is stunning. The casual look look, makes you much sportier and younger and really fits you. A simplistic dress ideal for errands and on the go stuff.
I also liked you sneakers, they are really chic and fits well with the rest. Those sneakers are quite comfortable, since I own pair, and could be worn without socks, since are purposely designed for that. Have you put on any socks with them?
You can even pair this dress with a pair of black nike free.
I just threw them on barefoot for this post but if I know I’ll be doing much walking, I will wear these: http://rstyle.me/n/cpakjegthw
Such a cute dress and I LOVE the sneakers!
I love this! I just purchased this dress in the black palm print for $8!!! What a steal!! It’s very firm fitting and sized up to medium as well! The cotton is so soft! I love your style!!!
