The Perfect Summer T-Shirt

I’ve had this teal U-neck tee hanging in my closet for months, just waiting for warm weather to pair it with white jeans and sandals. I love teal and white together for spring and summer. It reminds me of the swimming pool.

This Caslon Relaxed Slub U-Neck Tee is the perfect summer t-shirt.

Tory Burch Serif T Saddle Bag // Nails: CND Studio White

Of course, I waited so long that now this color has been discontinued (sorry!) but the Teal Britt is close and just as pretty. It is $25 and comes in a gazillion other colors and striped patterns!

UPDATE: I swear, yesterday this shirt was on the website in 24 colors. Today, there are 5, and none are the pretty spring colors they had before. No teal either. I am baffled and annoyed. If you’re looking for a neutral t-shirt, they’ve gotcha covered. I have no idea what happened to all the other pretty colors. Bah humbug.

LOFT has a similar tee that I recommend — their Vintage Soft Tee, and it’s on sale for $15. It comes in some pretty pinks and blues but no teal.

If you like longer tees, you will love this the Caslon U-Neck Tee. I’m actually hoping mine will shrink up a bit in the wash because it’s a little long on me. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It’s not terribly thin, as some t-shirts are these days. I can’t speak to the white and other light colors, but it’s fine in this teal color without a cami or anything underneath.

When I had lunch plans on a beautiful 70-degree day a few weeks ago, I decided it was the perfect time to debut this outfit. Of course, now it’s back to being cold and rainy, but looking at these pictures gives me hope. Spring WILL return, right? RIGHT!?!

Anyway, as planned, I paired the teal tee with my white distressed jeans. When it gets warmer, I’ll wear it with white shorts.

I did the “front tuck” of course.  Frankly, I will be happy when this trend has moved on, but for now it’s the only thing know to do with these relaxed-fit tops.

The lighting was just perfect the morning we shot these pictures. I can’t wait for pretty days to return!

I love my Tory Burch Miller Sandals. I have to try not to wear them every day. My mom gifted me with my first pair in white leather a few years ago, and I added the nude patent to my closet this spring. They’re very comfortable for a flat sandal, and they stay on my feet easily when I walk because of the large medallion and cross strap.

I added my Serif T Saddle Bag. It seems to go with everything right now. They call it New Ivory, but it’s close enough to white to work with the white pieces in my wardrobe.

The necklace and bracelets I’m wearing are all new this spring from Stella & Dot. I’m a distributor, so if you ever have any questions, let me know. I’m happy to help! These are actually 3 bracelets layered together.

This is the kind of easy breezy outfit that I live in all summer long. Since I was going out to lunch, I decided to jazz it up with the statement necklace, but I love that you can remove the pendant and wear it as a simple collar necklace for more of an everyday look.

  1. Very nice, and I need to get a pair of those Tory sandals! Love them every time you wear them! How about Survivor? You got me hooked!

  2. This is such a fresh spring outfit. I guess that’s why I’ve already copied it! 😉
By the way, the front tuck trend has saved me over the years with odd fitting tops. I always always have to have my rear covered, but I have never liked the way some just hang weirdly in the front (usually straight hem types). I will wear so many more now that I wouldn’t have before. I’m actually hoping it doesn’t fade out too soon!

  3. Love this outfit! It’s so simple yet so springy and fun. I’m not a fan of the boxier shirts that are popular right now either. Like you, I have a very defined waist. Even though it often doesn’t completely fix the problem, I usually size down in this type of top to get a closer fit. I totally think you should try a small in this t-shirt. I hate the front-tuck on me (it’s so cute on everyone else!) so that isn’t a good solution for me personaly.

Also, I used your links to order that white wrap bracelet a couple of weeks ago. It’s actually a Mother’s Day gift from my husband but I had to sneak a peak when it came in the mail to make sure I liked it. 🙂 It is wonderful and I can’t wait to wear it! The leather is soooo soft and flexible and it’s both classic and modern at the same time. I am ready to order more Stella & Dot wrap bracelets now!

    1. Yeah, I was thinking I maybe should have sized down. It does advise sizing down on the website. But often these tops shrink a lot, so maybe that will do the trick. 🙂 I am SO glad you like your Stella & Dot bracelet!!!! Thanks for your order!

  4. Hi! I saw those tees at Nordstrom last Saturday but they were limited in sizes so I ended up buying BP v neck tees from the Junior dept. Have you seen these? I sized up – they were 2 for $28.

But since you like the Caslon brand, I tried on the tank and got 1 so I’m going to hopefully wear it soon when the weather warms up in PA!

    Thanks Jo-Lynne for sharing! Lisa

  5. Love this outfit! It’s a great color for you! And everything is perfectly coordinated, from the necklace to the bracelets. Sending Happy Mother’s Day wishes to you a little early. And prayers that your daughter gets well quick & no one else gets sick! This gloomy/misty/rainy Northeast Pa weather needs to get out of here, or you’ll be looking for a faux sunshine background!

  6. I’m always on the hunt for good tee shirts. It can be difficult to find ones that aren’t body hugging and too long. I really like the look of this one. Looks great with white jeans and I love your necklace with it!

  7. I think this necklace adds so much class to the normal “jeans & tee” that everyone wears!! It’s quite stunning!!
I’m not sure if you know someone that does alterations, but if your tee doesn’t shrink—it’s a pretty easy fix to shorten it!
This outfit looks like you stepped out of a summer vacation advertisement!! Love it!!

  8. Cute outfit! I just posted about my new favorite tee last week. It’s the Women’s Relaxed Slub Jersey V-neck T-shirt from Lands’ End. I love the way it fits! It has a similar style to your t-shirt but has no pocket.

  9. Hi Jo-Lynne!! I love the shirt!! And I was about to let you know about the one I found that is AMAZING!!
JCPenny and only $7.99 on sale
I bought it in rich avocado and white. I usually wear a small, but I got this ones in medium. Small was okay, but I wanted them a little loose.

    1. I’m really liking their Stylus brand, it s pretty great quality and you can’t beat the prices!

  10. Very nice outfit. I got the t-shirt in red a while back. I love the material and the fit but like you I’m disappointed that they don’t have the nice bright colors anymore. I like the color you are wearing, i’m hoping it will be back in stock. The bag and sandals are gorgeous!

  11. How Summery do you look? As I look out my window and see cloudy skies, I’m envious! I think mint and white is my all-time favorite color combo for Spring and Summer. And I agree about the LOFT soft tees, as I own a couple and really love them!
