Lazy mornings with no place to go and all day to get there.
Wearing pajamas till noon.
Sitting on the front porch in the warmth of the afternoon sun, watching the kids play in the wading pool.
Hanging out in the front yard after dinner, socializing with the neighbors while a gaggle of kids run and play.
The companionship of my children.
The healthy glow of sun-kissed skin.
Cookouts.
Fireworks.
Flip flops.
Tank tops.
Daylight savings time.
What about YOU?
“The warmth of the afternoon sun?” A lovely thought but clearly comes from someone who lives up north. Around here it would be “the nuclear glare of the flesh-searing hot sun”! 😉
I’ll miss sandals, definitely.
And lots of daylight. But as far as the warmth of the sun goes, I’m with you, Rocks.
And the PJs thing…this is reason #2 that I homeschool. Second only to giving my kids a good Biblical education.
FLIP FLOPS!!!!!!!!
I’ll miss my shorts! Shorts are way more comfortable than jeans!
I’ll miss the green grass and the crape myrtles.
I’ll miss the pool and the kids sleeping late.
I’ll miss not having to worry about homeschooling!
And I’ll miss meeting my girlfriends for lunch (with homeschooling, there’s not a lot of girlfriend lunches during the year!).
But, I love fall, so I’m eager for it to come!!!
I’ll miss my fresh herbs and pretty flowers growing in pots on the backporch.
Afternoons on the neighbors’ driveways as our kids play together.
Fresh Sweet Corn.
Bean’s sandals she can put on all by herself.
Static free hair.
😉
* Generous morning doses of Fruit Loops (because hey, if DD isn’t going to school to blab about her sugary breakfast it’s ok, right ?)
*Bobbing along the lazy river at the local pool
*Popsicles on the patio swing (although here in Texas we can probably keep this one going til November at least).
*Daylight savings. Love when its light late at night.
*not putting coats, boots, mittens, etc on my kids when we leave the house.
*watermelon
I have second that “wearing pajamas until noon” – as now I have to be presentable by 8 AM for the bus stop! AH!
I will miss having the kids always with me, but then I am really enjoying quiet time. I love summer veggies, too. But I LOVE fall and there is so much to look forward to with fall!
Steph
Things I’ll miss about this summer? Nothing.
This has possibly been the hardest summer of my life. Maybe second only to a terrible, terrible job experience mid-way through college.
The heat has wiped me out.
The culture shock of our recent move has wiped me out.
The nausea from this pregnancy has wiped me out.
The grief of not getting to go back to the place I love overseas has wiped me out.
The impatience and bad attitudes I had while going through the hardest parts of this move have wiped me out.
I can’t WAIT to wipe this summer out. 🙂
Jess
I will definitely miss my flip flops and my capris! And I love daylight savings time, after I get used to it 🙂 I will miss the heat, believe it or not. 🙂
The pool and being able to send the kids in the back yard when they have just TOO MUCH ENERGY!
I love all the seasons and I always look forward to fall, but I’m going to miss every single one of these things about summer. Who wouldn’t!
I probably won’t miss summer much. Although I usually enjoy summers, I love fall.
capris
Lydia signing “swim”
Lydia wearing sunhats!
Ditto for everything you listed plus…
days at the beach
nights at Funland
beach fries
funnel cakes
fresh corn on the cob
steamed crabs
smell of fresh mowed grass
lots of time with my kiddos
waterparks
AFter thinking about it, I don’t think I’m ready for summer to go 🙂
I will miss how time stands still in the summer. The lazy schedule is hard to beat.
But, I always love the crisp Fall weather.
