Tiger Sweater Tank Date Night Look | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

Happy hump day, friends! I’m back with another fall outfit today — this one featuring a tiger print sweater tank. Yes, my love for animal prints runs deep.

I shared in my email this morning that I spend a lot of time planning the order in which I share my outfits. I’m sure I’m over-thinking it, but I try not to share back-to-back outfits with a similar clothing item — like black jeans or mules — and I like to vary the backgrounds from one day to the next.

But if I wake up one morning and find a good sale on an item in one of my outfits, I might prioritize that one and shift everything else, and that’s what happened today.

Right now, my favorite denim jacket is on sale, so I’m sharing this date night look with a tiger print sweater tank, even though that makes two outfits in a row with sleeveless tops for fall.

See what I mean? Overthinking.

I love a sleeveless sweater for fall, and this one is nice and thick with good density to the knit, and it’s such a striking print. The wide straps are bra-friendly, and it’s the perfect 23″ length.

See how much more flattering this length is on me than the 20″ sweater I wore in yesterday’s post?

Unfortunately this sweater tank is NOT on sale, but it was when I purchased it. I’ll keep an eye on it and give you a heads-up when it goes on sale again because it’s pretty spendy for a memorable piece. Still, the quality is really good, and I feel like it warrants the price tag.

I feel like this tiger print is begging to be paired with black — either black jeans or a black moto jacket. I suppose I could do both for a fierce, edgy vibe, but for this look, I wore black jeans and toned it down a bit with a denim jacket.

I’ve sung the praises of this denim jacket many times, but if you don’t currently have a denim jacket that you love, I can’t recommend this one highly enough.

I’ve had it for years, and it washes up really well. It’s stretchy and comfortable and has good structure for a flattering fit. It runs true to size; I have the small.

These shoes are the Vionic Bianca suede sandals from the #NSale. I love the combination of the rich black suede with the tortoise slingback strap, and they have a half-d’Orsay vamp for added interest and stability.

The heel is 3 1/2″, but it doesn’t feel that high. I would have sworn it was closer to 3 inches.

I hope a lot of you snagged a pair when they were on sale because they are soooo comfortable.

The footbed has some serious padding, and the block heel and thick straps keep them nice and stable. I could seriously walk in these all day.

Oh, and before you ask, I’m wearing CND Arrowhead on my nails. I love this color for fall.

For accessories, I strayed away from a necklace so the sweater could take center stage, but I wore largish drop earrings and a cuff bracelet.

I probably should have gone bolder with my jewelry, but y’all know what a plain Jane I am when it comes to my accessories. I will always err on the side of “less is more.”

And finally, I kind of glossed over these jeans, but I do want to call your attention to them because the fit is really nice, and they’re a great price point.

They’re the KUT from the Kloth Donna high waist ankle skinny jeans from the #NSale, and they’re lightweight and stretchy and super comfortable.

They have a 28″ inseam with a 10 1/2″ front rise, and they run true to size. I’m in my usual size 6.

I love this look for a casual date night with Paul or dinner out with friends. Restaurants are open in my area, and we dine outside a lot, so layers are key. I’d be fine leaving this jacket on or taking it off, and the jeans are a nice weight for warmer fall days.

The sweater makes a bold statement, and I think the tiger is a really fresh alternative to the leopard prints that have been so popular lately.

Be sure to visit Cyndi and see the fall look she’s styling today!

  1. love this look on you! The top is amazing. I love the polish…what colors are trending for fall 2020?

Enjoying this series very much, too!!!!

    1. I haven’t seen much about it, but I always gravitate to dark colors in the fall, but I try to find the ones that aren’t too warm since I don’t wear a lot of warm colors. This is kind of a brownish burgundy.

  2. Love this outfit, really stands out!  Everything about it – perfect!! I just love the inspiration you provide!  Even though I’m not even close to your size, I still have the same basic pieces in my closet to recreate this outfit!  My top is a small leopard print, but still in the brown and black shades – presto – a copycat outfit!!

  3. Yes!  The length of this top is much better.  I like the whole outfit on you!  I am looking forward to cooler weather so that I can wear my Kut from the Kloth jeans that you have on in this post.  I have no idea how you manage to change clothes in your car!  That would be my least favorite part of the job.  Good luck at PT!  The pain level during my PT on Monday was off the charts; he actually saw my facial reactions while he was working on me.  Have an awesome day!

  4. I love this outfit, Jo-Lynne. I’ve been looking for animal prints other than cheetah, and ordered that tank when it was on sale. I ended up sending it back because it felt bulky and seemed like it had too much fabric. Seeing it on you, I am wondering if I should have gone down a size. I ordered a large because I usually am, but I do wear a M in many tops at WHBM.

I have a Lucky Brand jean jacket that I don’t love. My finger is very tempted to toss the Vince into my cart.

  5. Such a well put together outfit. The sweater is perfect for pre-fall and looks expensive, while the jean jacket adds a nice casual look. My spanx perfect black petite pants arrived yesterday and boy are they nice. So glad I went with the PM because the PS would have been too tight. Glad I read the reviews and thanks to you I will get a lot of wear out of these. 😃

  6. Now I love this outfit on you! And I did finally purchase the denim jacket yesterday! and the shoes are AMAZING!!!

  7. I could use some black jeans for fall. Always hesitate about the pants because I’m about 3 inches taller than you. I know everyone loves animal print these days. Just not my thing. Like the sleeveless sweater look though.

    1. I have long legs, so sometimes women who are my height find the pants I like are too long for them… so these might work for you. They have a 28″ inseam, which is pretty standard for “ankle length.”

  8. Outfit #2 is another win! Super cute! The only thing that I don’t  like is the denim jacket….it’s too casual /too blue/ too much IMO. It takes the outfit down a level.

Another note- I tried to order the JCrew olive cropped flares you wore yesterday and your link takes me there but when I clicked on “Tall” size I got pushed off the site…repeatedly. But when I tried later in the day by just going to JCrew without your link I was able to view, choose a size and add to cart. I didn’t purchase yet though because I want you to get your commission.
    Thoughts?

    1. How strange. I think, if you go on the the same browser as it opened earlier, the cookie should still be there. But there’s no way to be sure. Go ahead and order, though! Don’t miss out on the sale.

    1. So I see this comment is here but my longer one commenting on your outfit is not. So weird!
Assuming you can still read all comments JoLynne, hidden or not, can you let me know your thoughts on the JCrew link from yesterday. Thanks!
I’m about to log into Zoom for my work day to start…..🤩

      1. Your other comment is there – I pushed it through the moderation queue. It’s above this one.

So, it’s strange about the link to the pants, but I appreciate you so much trying to make sure I get the credit! I just tried it and it is doing the same thing to me, so it is definitely a glitch on their site. BUT I was able to make a link for the tall sizes. See if this works: https://shopstyle.it/l/bl9Hv

  9. Cute outfit but the purse link is dishonest. You are carrying a Gucci and it’s gorgeous. Own it, link it, who cares if people judge?!  You like it that is all that counts and your readers like your style:)

    1. I don’t feel like it’s dishonest. It’s obviously not the same bag, and I often link similar-for-less items. But I appreciate the sentiment. 🙂 I probably shouldn’t carry them if I’m not wiling to link to them. I just figure Tory Burch is more in line with the price points I typically feature, and they’re the same style.

  10. This is a great outfit! I have the jeans on the way. I’m pretty sure the rest will find the way to my closet! Always seem to be on the hunt for the perfect jean jacket! Good price too! Also, I am on the look out for a white shirt/blouse. A good classic staple. Suggestions? I enjoyed the post you did on the white tees awhile back. Was so helpful!

  11. Does the sweater tank run true to size? You didn’t mention what size you were wearing. It looks like it might run small.
    Thanks

  12. Tank looks better in you then the model!  Love this outfit, it really reflects my style for fall. I can attest to the comfort of that denim jacket. I am wearing it right now!

  13. Hi, Jo-lynne!
You should not feel uncomfortable taking pics in public – You are beautiful! Just hold your head high & keep laughing with your great photographer – People will assume you are a super model, and weren’t they lucky to see you in person!
I have gained too much weight to wear most of your clothes but I enjoy seeing your smiling face and keeping up on new fashion trends!

  14. That is a great outfit, I love the sweater! I like Tiger for something different. (Plus, always keeping my eye out as a Clemson mom!)

  15. Love your style! I’m a huge fan of animal prints also, and the tiger print is a nice change from all the leopard and snake prints this fall. We are literally the same height and size so seeing you in the clothes gives me an idea of how things will look on me also. Thank you for the style inspiration!

  16. Can you actually button your jean jacket? I always wonder how I should pick size for jean jackets. I know I wouldn’t wear it buttoned but I’m just wondering about sizing
