Two Classic Summer Looks with Talbots

The 4th of July may be behind us, but I guess I’m still feeling the red, white & blue. You’ll see what I mean as soon as you get to my second look.

Today I’m styling two classic summer outfits with Talbots, and they’ve extended their Summer Cyber Celebration one more day! That means you can save 50% off site-wide, and shipping is free with no minimum. (Discount will appear in shopping bag.)

You all know that I have a love/hate relationship with dresses, but this eyelet tiered midi dress was calling my name as soon as I saw it on the Talbots website.

The top is flattering with bra-friendly straps, and it has one of those swishy skirts that is so feminine and fun.

The fabric is a soft and comfy jersey knit, and it can be washed and dried — so easy! This is the perfect dress for church on Sundays, al fresco dining this summer, or even just throwing on with flip flops when you’re running errands around town and want to feel extra pretty. Why not?

This dress runs true to size; I have the small. The best thing about wearing a dress is, it’s one and done. Pair it with neutral sandals and a straw tote for an effortless summer look.

My second outfit is a bit more conservative, and it’s definitely better suited for milder summer weather — not the heatwave we’ve been having. But if you need something for the office, or you just like a little more coverage, this slub cotton v-neck sweater is absolutely gorgeous.

It has such pretty detail at the neckline, and I love the marled knit in this fresh Biscayne blue. I also appreciate the slender line of the 3/4-length sleeves; they’re very flattering. The side slit detail at the hem is a nice touch.

This sweater is 100% cotton, which can be hard to find these days. I love how soft and breathable it is. It’s machine washable, but you’ll want to be sure to lay it out to dry.

I paired this sweater with these classic white ankle pants. They have a flat front with a size zip, so there’s no extra bulk, and they recently updated this staple in the Talbots lineup with a modern higher rise to keep you looking sleek and smooth through the middle.

The slit hem is a nice detail, and they keep this look crisp and fresh. These pants run true to size, and they also come in petite sizes and a curvy fit as well.

Both of these looks have that modern classic style that Talbots is known for, and I always know I can depend on them for quality and consistency.

  1. I’ve never heard of The Gown but I downloaded it right away! I alter and sew custom wedding dresses so this is right up my alley, not to mention, also a huge Crown fan! I love the sundress.

  2. I love that dress! I’ve looked at it a few times but never pulled the trigger on buying it. I saw the sale yesterday but got busy & thought I missed it. Glad to hear it’s extended! Both pieces look great on you as usual!! 👍🏻 Enjoy your time in Maine! 🦞

  3. That dress is so pretty on you! So glad you’re seeing the sun it’s back out here this morning too🙌🏻. Have a great day and enjoy the lake!

  4. Love the color and cut of that dress on you!! I have trouble with the cut of Talbot clothes sometimes going frumpy but this dress does not. Their quality is definitely worth the higher price in my opinion and can definitely get some good sales. Do you have a link for the shoes?

  5. Love both looks – the dress is so pretty & summery. The lilac top & white pants scream summer.

    Enjoy your vacation

  6. I really like the look of white with blue. Those pants look like a great addition to my wardrobe. Enjoy your vacation.

  7. I have The Crown on my wish list of books to read. I highly recommend the same authors book “Our Darkest Night” if you are a fan of WW II historical fiction. Enjoy the rest of you vacation in Maine!

  8. I really enjoyed the Gown especially the parts with Phillip I wonder if it’s factual? Enjoy the vacation and the lobster!

  9. Love both outfits…and you look great in both! I ordered the book Where the Crawdads Sing and it should arrive today or tomorrow. Some of the scenes were filmed right here near my house – in downtown Houma, LA. The movie will be out some time next year. I considered The Gown but I have a couple of other books I need to get through first. Anyway…. Enjoy your day!!

  10. Thanks for the book tip; will add “The Gown” to my wish list for summer reading. Thanks for putting me onto Talbots. They have timeless, classic, great quality clothes! Love the dress and the sweater! Glad you folks made your own party on the 4th.

  12. So glad the rain moved out and you can enjoy some sun. I’ve never bought anything from Talbots as it can look matronly. But, these two outfits don’t on you. So pretty the color choices too.

Gave up some of my ripped jeans and younger styles.

  14. Hi there! I wondered if you might give a list of the books you’ve read this year (or last month!) and your recommendations. It seems you’re reading a lot, especially with the arrival of warmer weather. Love it!
