What I Wore Lately

Happy Wednesday! I’m headed back to Philadelphia this morning. It’s sad to leave this beautiful spot, but I’m looking forward to seeing my family and having everyone together for Easter this weekend.

Today I’m sharing my everyday outfits from the past two weeks—a mix of cozy late-winter looks in Philly and warm, sunny vacation outfits here in Florida.

Two Weeks of Everyday Spring Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes these days, so fit notes matter.

This was a casual day working from home. I threw on a favorite pair of jeans and a “beyond basic” sweatshirt with my Birkenstock clogs.

The next day, I wore this outfit to the hair salon to get my grays touched up. These jeans had just arrived, so I pulled this look together just for fun.

I threw on this camel coat as I was leaving the house because it was quite chilly—gotta love March in Pennsylvania!

I met a friend at a local bakery for brunch one morning, and I took the opportunity to break out my new Le Jean barrel-leg pants.

Nordstrom Crop Trench (S) // Bobi Rbbed Top (M) // LE JEAN Barrel (30) // Dolce Vita Baylee (8.5) // similar earrings & necklace // similar bag

I have no idea why I didn’t get any photos of the bobi ribbed top without the jacket that day, but here’s one from a try-on haul with different shoes—they’re really cute together.

Another casual day at home, and another easy pair of jeans with a “beyond basic sweatshirt” and sneakers.

LNA Joey (S) // Madewell Jules (29) // adidas Spezial (8) // Jenny Bird hoops

I wore this outfit to church with my new Madewell Jules jeans in ecru, paired with an olive top and topped off with this cute black dolman-sleeve linen-blend jacket. I finished the look with black perforated Mary Janes to bookend it and added a black belt to tie everything together.

My bracelet was gifted from Marlyn Schiff, and it’s such a fun, one-and-done statement piece. The hammered silver keeps it feeling casual, and I added the toggle pebble pendant while keeping the earrings simple with classic hoops.

I met a friend for lunch and shopping the day before my trip. It was still pretty chilly in PA, so I wore a lightweight cashmere henley sweater and paired it with white jeans to give a nod to spring. These J.Crew Slim Wide Jeans are on sale today, by the way! They’re marked down to $98.

I topped it off with my lululemon Rain Rebel jacket, since it was chilly but I didn’t want to wear a heavy coat.

The next day, I left bright and early to fly to Florida! I tried to grab a quick photo in my room, but it was pretty dark. I wore my olive Athleta Brooklyn cargo pants (sadly, these seem to have been discontinued, which is a shame because they’re great travel pants) with a black tank and topped it off with my Risen denim jacket.

I wore my On Cloud sneakers so I’d have them if I decided to work out while I was there, but I also brought the Dolce Vita Sariya sneakers, and in retrospect, I really only needed one pair. It really pays to know your plans when traveling. For this trip, I wasn’t sure how much walking or working out I’d be doing, so I thought I might want both options.

I still managed to get everything into a carry-on, but leaving out those sneakers would have made it a lot easier. I’m still learning!

I took another picture once I got to my resort. Here you can see the luggage I brought on this trip. I went with the Quince Expandable Carry-On that I took to St. Lucia because it holds a ton, and the color makes it easy to spot in a luggage lineup. (We had to gate-check our suitcases because the plane was small, which was actually nice! I was able to keep my bag with me, but I didn’t have to heave it into the overhead compartment.)

I went with the AWAY backpack this time because it’s smaller and more compact, and easier to wrangle when I don’t have my suitcase to set it on.

Sadly, I only had that suite for one night (long story—but basically, I had to change rooms a couple of times so I could extend my trip). That one was by far the best for mirror selfies… as you will soon see!

This picture was taken the first night, when I went out to dinner with Sydney—one of my team members who happens to live here. I decided to break out my linen pants and paired them with this light blue sweater tank.

I brought my denim jacket along in case I got chilly, and I added some fun jewelry—a charm bracelet with seashells and freshwater pearls, gold shell and starfish charms, a beaded necklace, and simple hoop earrings. I also love these strappy gold sandals, and they’re part of the Shopbop sale! I’ve had them for a couple years, now, and they seem to go with everything.

The next day, I met my travel advisor, Stacey, for lunch—she also happens to live here! I decided to wear my new short-sleeve denim jacket with white jeans and a navy tank. I added a stack of bangles and my new fish necklace, which I think is so fun. I have it on good authority that fish-themed accessories are going to be trending big time this season… who knew?!

The next morning, I met Sydney to work on some content planning. I wore this dress over my swimsuit so I could go straight to the pool when we were done.

I decided to go up to the restaurant for breakfast on Saturday, and I pulled together this cute look with my linen pants, the brown tank I picked up at a local shop down here, and my short-sleeve denim jacket.

Saturday was also “moving day”—at least for one night. This suite is amazing. Paul and I had a similar one last year, and it’s such a fun way to splurge if you’re with someone special, but I couldn’t justify it for just myself, so I only stayed there one night.

It turned chilly, cloudy, and windy that day, so once I got to my new room, I changed into the warmest outfit I brought—this white beachy sweater with blue jeans and sneakers. I wore it for the rest of the day while working in my room, and then again to dinner at my hotel bar that night.

I had to check out of my fancy suite the next morning, and it was still overcast and windy. I wasn’t sure when my new room would be ready, so I pulled on my linen pants with the white sweater, and I ended up sitting outside by the pool reading my book for a good part of the day.

I had my Splendid tank on underneath in case it warmed up enough to take off the sweater—which it did by the time I got to my new room, so I tied it around my shoulders.

I don’t recall why I changed, but it was chilly and I think I just wanted to wear jeans, so I pulled them on with a graphic tee after unpacking and headed down to the bar with my laptop for a casual dinner while I worked.

The next day was much nicer weather-wise, and Sydney came over. We shot a bunch of photos and videos before heading down for lunch at the oceanside grille. I was happy to have an opportunity to wear my new olive shorts. I paired them with a black tank and added flip-flops and my woven crossbody bag.

It cooled off that night, so after a long walk on the beach, I changed into white jeans and my beige stripe tank for dinner. I topped it off with my Quince linen jacket in the Flax and added my gold strappy sandals, which are on sale right now!

I thought these Lizzie Fortunato earrings were a really fun and beachy touch, and I also wore my new beaded bracelet that I picked up at a local shop while I was here. I love this neutral look.

Yesterday was my last day in Florida, and the weather was perfect—warm and sunny, but not too hot. I started the day in white shorts and my graphic tee for breakfast and some early morning work.

Then I changed into a swimsuit and cover-up and spent some time at the pool before eventually making my way down to the beach. It was the perfect afternoon to soak up some sun, listen to the sound of the waves, and get some reading in.

My last dinner in Florida was super casual—at the hotel bar once again. I could have gone out, but the food here is really good, and it’s so easy to just walk down the hall!

I pulled on my jeans again, this time with my black tank and flip-flops. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of a black tank with blue jeans and neutral sandals, and I love how the woven tote takes it up a notch. The silhouettes may shift over the years, but this ultra-casual look with a subtle boho flair is still one of my all-time favorites.

And that’s a wrap for this edition of What I Wore Lately, as well as this latest Florida visit. I’m going to miss the views and the oceanfront, but I’ll be back in Sarasota in just a few weeks, so it’s not goodbye for long.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration if you have a warm-weather trip coming up! Click here to check out my full packing list.

  1. What are.your thoughts on the quince leather bag. I keep.getting drawn to the larger version. I struggle since its online only and I really like to see and feel a bag and it’s functions. The price point is considered a splurge for me.

  2. Do you mind sharing who your travel agent is? Is it difficult to work with her long- distance? Does you use her for all your trips? Thanks!

  3. Jo-Lynne you look absolutely gorgeous in the Florida pictures especially. The outfits, accessories, and your hair, skin and make up are really stunning. You’ve got that glow!! Thanks for sharing. I plan to check into some of the jewelry you have highlighted.

  4. Paige Mason. I just purchased them but waiting on the Mother Rambler and might try the J Crew wide leg.
Question… How does the Paige Mason feel after wearing them for hours? Mine sort of feel like they could stretch or bag out but I have only had them on for a few minutes.

    1. I’m wearing them today to travel home. They do stretch some but I don’t feel like they bag out or anything like that. I’m also curious to compare to MOTHER rambler. I had to re-order them a THIRD time because the first two came with black marks on them.

      1. That is strange! Wonder why both pairs had a black mark? Anyway, I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts after you compare. I have a pair white Paige Laurel Canyon that I bought 2 years ago or maybe even 3. They are full length flare/bootcut and I need heels. Want to find a paid that is cropped for flats.

        1. It was like someone dropped the on the floor and rolled over them with a wheeled cart or something. The first pair was much worse than the second, but I was afraid it might not wash out so I sent them back. AGAIN.

  5. Welcome back home, it’s in the 80’s so you won’t miss the Florida weather today! I love the short-sleeved denim jacket by Kut but I have a very similar one from Talbots that I purchased last year. I saw at Evereve that Kut had a mushroom (looked light tan/beige to me) version of the jacket that looked like something I would wear on repeat. Ordered it!

  6. Trying to reside which color to order in the TKEES flip flops. The coco butter line you have or the Sun-kissed. Is your color more taupe? Hard to match to handbag? The sun-kissed color looks easier to style but is the color dated? You know what I mean, when Jude sandals were so in. Website says not to get wet and spot clean etc. do you find them hard to keep from staining. Looks like you wore by water. They are spendy for flip flops so don’t want to have to fuss about them. Love all your looks.

    1. I have Cocobutter, but there’s nothing wrong with Sunkissed. It’s just a matter of what shade you like. I do find them a bit more fussy than my beek flip flops, which I don’t think twice about getting wet. When I got these wet, I remembered the website instructions, and I was careful to dry them off quickly. But they still look fine.

  7. Do the J.Crew slim wide jeans bag out? I have them in my cart, but some of the reviews gave me pause.

  8. Love all the looks. I will be heading to Florida myself in a few weeks, gave me inspiration. I just wanted to say hope all goes well with your dog. It’s hard to see when they get older and slowing down. They are such special members of a family. 💕🐾

  9. I just ordered the Teek flip flops. I normally am a size 7.5 shoe and they come only in whole sizes. I ordered the 8 and they seemed a little too big on me. I dont think thats how they are supposed to look. Did you find they ran big? I see you are wearing a size 8. Also did the leather between your toe soften up with wearing. They seemed a little uncomfortable between the toes which I normally dont experience. Other cute sandal.

    1. Yes, I’m often a 8.5 these days, but if in doubt, I will go with an 8 in an open back shoe or sandal. I sometimes need a 9 in sneakers. So you may need to size down one. I did find the thong stiff at first, and I thought it was just b/c I wasn’t built up to a thong yet this summer. They feel just fine now.

  10. Love almost all the looks here! I noticed that the short sleeve jean jacket–you bought a small instead of medium–does it run big? Site says true to size. Also, the black Park tank you wear with it–you have a large–does that run small?? The graphic tee is adorable! Evereve always has such cute graphic tees–wish they weren’t so expensive–I do have a couple after they went on sale.

    1. I don’t even know what to say is my true size any more. With KUT from the Kloth jackets, I sometimes need a small and sometimes a medium. I do think the LNA tanks run small. All of their tees and tanks seem to run small. I sized up to a large in the Splendid tank and Free People one as well, b/c they’re so form-fitting.

  11. Nice to see you bought the Paige Olivia shorts. I have several pairs, some bought last year. Only thing is I had to size down 2 sizes which never happens.
