What I Wore Lately Vol. 18

Last week, many of you said you wouldn’t mind seeing these posts weekly, so today I’m sharing what I wore lately. This post basically answers a question I get a lot: But what do you really wear?

Hint: I pretty much wear the outfits I share in dedicated outfit posts, or at least something like that. I don’t keep it all because I don’t need it all, but I only share outfits that I like and would wear in my daily life.

In these posts, I try to share where I wore each look and point out the features that I like about certain pieces. Sometimes I talk about how I put each outfit together, and even show the “outfit evolution” when I try a few things before making my final decision about what to wear.

I am no fashion expert, nor does fashion necessarily come easily to me. I’m just a woman who likes clothes, trying to figure it all out and over-sharing on the internet!

With that all said, here’s what I wore this week.

What I Wore Lately

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds-ish, with a slight hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

This first outfit is what I wore last Wednesday to visit my friendly gastroenterologist.

I threw on this pink linen tank with dark wash skinnies, and then I added my snake print sandals for a bit of pattern and texture. I kept my jewelry simple with Yurman hoops and a pair of Lagos bracelets.

These jeans have been restocked in a few sizes; I love the dark rinse and the 27″ inseam. They run TTS; I have my usual size 28.

The next day, I had PT and then a workout appointment, so I wore workout gear all day.

I’m wearing a medium in this Zella tee, but I recently purchased a different color in a small, and I prefer the fit of the small. Although, as you can see, sizing up for a more relaxed fit works too.

I still love and adore these Vuori joggers. Definitely size up in these, though. I’m wearing the medium.

And finally, these P448 sneakers were a birthday gift from my mom, and I had to size up. I have the 38 in my other pair, but I needed a 39 in these.

It rained all day Friday, and I wore this lightweight striped sweater with my Paige straight ankle jeans.

I got these jeans on a 40% off sale, and I’m hoping they go back on sale soon! I’m keeping an eye on them.

I had to take my daughter to the orthodontist, so I threw on cute shoes for that. Otherwise, I wore slippers all day.

Happily, the weather cleared up on Saturday. I worked in the morning, and then Paul and I spent the afternoon in the pool. Afterwards, we went over to a friends’ patio for drinks to celebrate his birthday (the friend’s birthday, not Paul’s).

I wore this pink top again, but this time I wore jean shorts, and I ended up switching into these Ann Taylor cork sandals. My feet were hurting and I thought the 1″ heel would help, plus they looked a little dressier.

I really wanted to wear white shorts, but I’ve worn white shorts the last few times I got together with this group of people, so I wore jean shorts instead. Like anyone cares… ha! (Yes, I think about these things.)

We went to church on Sunday, and I wore my white jeans with this pink Talbots sweater.

You guys, this sweater is now marked down to $22.49, and these jeans come down to $35.99 with code GIANT. FYI, they’re final sale.

Both the sweater and jeans run TTS; I have the small and 28, respectively.

Later that evening, we went out to dinner. I had already taken off my church clothes, and I didn’t feel like wearing jeans to dinner when it was so hot out, so I put on these utility shorts and funnel neck tank with strappy block heel sandals.

These sandals are 30% off, by the way.

I love the look, but I felt a little extra wearing heels with shorts for a casual family dinner.

I decided to go with my snake print flats, and I felt more comfortable that way, but the top… I dunno. As much as I want to like it, it just seems to really draw attention to my chest.

I ended up switching into this one, which is the exact same fabric and cut, except with a round neck and cap sleeves. I’m not sure why it makes such a difference, but I did feel more comfortable in this.

Also, these shorts are $29, and they also come in olive green.

When we were walking over to the restaurant, I spotted this wall, so we stopped for a quick Instagram photo.

I had a photo shoot on Monday, and I wore this afterwards to Trader Joe’s and Target.

These jeans are selling out, but they’re on sale, and I really like this darker wash. There are more sizes at the Kut from the Kloth website, but they aren’t on sale over there.

And yesterday I had PT, followed by a mani/pedi… bliss! I went with a bright coral on my hands and feet this time. #byebyewhite

And that’s it for this week. I hope yours is going well so far. I’ll be back tomorrow with my Nordstrom Clearance Sale finds!

  1. My favorites are the striped top with jeans and the tan shorts with both black tops AND love those sandals with both outfits!! So cute on you!
    My kind of outfits.

  2. Hi Jo-Lynne!  Love the cute and casual outfits:)   I love the Talbots top….is it fitted or “snug” around the back??

  3. I love these type of posts because of all the information that you give. And the way you write, (and it may just be me) makes me feel as if you are talking just to me, not the whole Internet world. Thanks and have a wonderful day!

  4. I really like both black shirts on you! They’re both very flattering but I definitely understand not wearing something you’re not comfortable in. Maybe you could save the sleeveless top for a bit cooler weather and layer a jean jacket or light sweater over top… Thanks for sharing and stay well!

  5. It’s definitely a casual time of year that’s for sure but yet you still look so put together:) I liked the second outfit you went with for the pic by the way, the first one did seem a bit much and not as comfortable. Have you ever done an outfit on a budget? Like you have $100 bucks and need an outfit head to toe.  Maybe a post idea ?
    Have a great day:)

    1. I never really add up the cost of an outfit. I prefer to think in terms of cost per wear, and I like mixing higher end with lower end items. It might be fun to do some spend and save looks, when I’m looking for a post topic sometime. Some girls really have a knack for that. Pinteresting Plans does a lot of those on her IG.

  6. Love, love, love the outfit with WHBM shorts and black T. Such a simple outfit, but the shapes are balanced well and the colors together look fantastic. I bought the tan shorts and they are so comfy and cute. I like them so much that I’m tempted to buy the green. I wear denim shorts 90% of the time but these shorts are comfy enough to want to wear them.

    Happy Hump Day!

  7. Do you have a link to the red/cranberry top? That top looks great!
I look best in v-neck or scoop (otherwise I think a top makes my top look even bigger and more shelf-like – if that makes sense.)
I love these posts; they help me look at my closet and see what I can put together.

  8. I really liked the outfit with the funnel tank, shorts & dressier shoes, I thought it was very flattering on you. I did not notice that it drew any extra attention to your chest. Maybe for another occasion…

  9. Do those Kut from the Kloth run true to size? I normally wear a 6 but they are sold out so I’m thinking of the 4 since I normally petite. We’re having record temps over 100 degrees in San Antonio so I really don’t need jeans but have wanting an alternate to my skinny jeans that crop and cooler.

  10. I always enjoy these posts!  I agree with your opinion on the two black tops and I see a difference in the pictures.  The mock neck one does bring attention to the girls, whereas the other one doesn’t.  How is your hip feeling?  I hope it’s showing signs of improvement!

  11. Love these posts! You look so polished and stylish yet casual and comfortable. I strive for that look; sometimes I succeed! 😂
How is your hip and back doing? Hope you are on the mend.

  12. Ha! I can’t do heels with shorts either. I noticed you’re down to a size 6. My dream size. I know you do IF. What are you (not) eating to help drop the weight? I hope you feel as amazing as you look. 😉

  13. Hi Jo-Lynne! I really love seeing these posts, so glad you have begun showing us what you really wear weekly . You almost always share that you have a slight hourglass shape. So, are you a straight according to AYW, or a carrot or pear? Just trying to figure out your body type rules and compare them to my short waisted straight body type.

  14. Zappos is out of my size on the Sam Edelman Gigi’s so I tried the Sam Edelman website but I don’t see the pale blush snake option. Are they sold out or is it the first snake option? Thanks!

  15. Hi Jo-Lynne. Love the looks. I have a question about the taupe shorts. I just bought the WHBM utility jeans in about that color and wore them yesterday. They wrinkled pretty badly almost immediately and picked up a lot of lint, etc.

    Any suggestions?

(Also, I’m curious as to how you got your name. Jo-Lynne very pretty but I haven’t heard it often. I’ve only been subscribing for about a year, so I probably missed the post.)

  16. As always, you have put together so many great looks! The black cap sleeve tee from Everlane is beautiful on you and such a classic. How is the sizing? Do you mind sharing what size are you wearing?
    Many thanks!
