What I Wore Lately Vol. 115

It’s getting wild and crazy over here… I’ve got What I Wore Lately on a Tuesday!

I know I said I was going to round up my favorite fall shoes and boots today, but I’m still working on that, and this post was ready to go, so I’m switching things up.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

Also, there are some good sales going on right now, so I’ll link to those where I can. The Shopbop Style Event runs through Thursday, 10/19: Save 15% off orders of $200+; 20% off $500+; 25% off $800+ with code STYLE. The Bloomingdale’s Buy More, Save More goes to Sunday, 10/22: Take 20-30% off your qualifying purchase. J.Crew has 30% off your purchase with code SHOPNOW, and a BUNCH of my #NSale favorites are now deeply discounted at Nordstrom Rack.

What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

Gosh, this is a dreadful photo to start out with. I look so pale. I was just getting over the flu, and I had an appointment with an endocrinologist that I waited almost nine months for, so I rallied and went. (All is well, thankfully!)

I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, so I decided to dress cute even though it was just a doctor appointment. I love this KUT from the Kloth jacket for transition season, and the jeans were an #NSale purchase that sold out, so I linked similar below.

KUT from the Kloth jacket (S) // The Reset tank (S) // Paige Leenah Ankle (similar on sale) // YSL slides (38) (budget option) // Jenny Bird earrings // diamond pendant (similar)

I had an appointment with my chiropractor the next day, and I wore this comfy Vuori outfit that apparently has all sold out. Boo.

Vuori Sunset Easy Tee c/o (S) // Vuori Villa Wideleg c/o (S) // ON sneakers (9) // Jenny Bird earrings

That night, I met a friend for drinks. I knew this sweater vest + wide leg crop denim outfit was a sure thing, so I threw it on and then added my Vince wedge slides and some jewelry. I opted for larger earrings and a statement bracelet for a little extra oomph.

Davina Cable Vest (S) // Paige Anessa – up to 30% off at Bloomies (29) (similar for less) // Vince wedges (8) (on sale at Shopbop) // J.Crew earrings (30% off) // Victoria Emerson bracelet

I had a photo shoot the next day, and I wore this outfit to run some errands afterwards. My Rails sweater is part of the Bloomies Spend More, Save More event. It’s a little longer and more fluid than the sweaters I normally wear with flares, but I think this works.

Rails sweater – up to 30% off at Bloomies (S) // BR flares (29) // Dolce Vita boots – 50% off! (8) // Coach bucket bag (GC offer) // Jenny Bird earrings

I changed for a PT appointment that afternoon.

Zella tee (S) // Vuori joggers c/o (M) // ON sneakers (9) // Jenny Bird earrings

And then I changed again to go to the football game that night, and to host my daughter’s birthday party afterwards. That was a looooong day, let. me. tell. you.

My ATM tee is part of the Shopbop & Bloomies promotions, with a qualifying purchase. I love this slub knit, the flattering neckline, and the easy fit. Size up, if ordering.

ATM tee at Shopbop & Bloomies (M) // similar Frame denim – 70% off! (29) // P448 sneakers (39) // similar belt // HOBO crossbody // Jenny Bird necklace // Jenny Bird earrings

I cashiered at one of the concessions stands the next night at our home Cavalcade, and I wore this casual look. My MOTHER Dazzlers are part of the Shopbop Style Event, and my J. Crew sneakers are 30% off with code SHOPNOW. I wore a light tan belt to coordinate with the tan sole of the sneakers… yes, I think about these things, haha!

Caslon henley (S) // MOTHER Dazzler – Shopbop Sale (29) // J. Crew sneakers – 30% off (8h) // Evereve belt // Nordstrom necklace // Jenny Bird earrings

This next outfit is what I wore to church the following Sunday morning. This blouse is back on sale at Nordstrom Rack and fully stocked! I’m not normally a blouse girl, but I LOVE this one. It’s a shorter length, so it’s easy to tuck, and you don’t have a bunch of extra fabric to contend with, and it has such a nice drape. It also comes in black and a pretty Glacial Blue.

I also love these jeans for a classic bootcut/flare style, and they’re part of the Shopbop Style Event. The medium indigo wash is easy to dress up or down, and the finished hem is more elevated than the raw hem on the MOTHER Weekenders, which is my other go-to pair of flares. Oh, and Shopbop has a petite version of these!

Vince silk shirt – ON SALE! (S) // PAIGE Laurel Canyon Flares – ON SALE! (29) (similar Paige jeans) (petite option) (budget option) // Vince Camuto booties (8) // YSL belt (option) // Jenny Bird necklace // Jenny Bird earrings

We had tickets to a Phil Phillips concert that night, so after a nice, long afternoon nap, I pulled this outfit together. I thought it would be fun to wear my burgundy jacket. I might have tried a few other things, as well. It was getting late, and I didn’t have much time to play around with outfits.

Something about this seemed off to me, the relaxed flares looked even more relaxed because I lost a few pounds while I was sick and still wasn’t feeling 100%, and the cropped jacket seems almost too cropped for them. I don’t have a photo, but the rear view was pretty unfortunate. The jeans were already sagging, and I knew they’d stretch more throughout the evening.

KUT Kara jacket (S) // Evereve tank (S) // BR flare jeans (29) // Marc Fisher boots (8) // YSL belt // Jenny Bird necklace // Kendra Scott earrings

So then I threw on my MOTHER Rollers and this sleeveless notch neck sweater – I felt more comfortable in it than the Evereve Miley Tank because it has more of a relaxed fit, and I knew I’d want to remove my jacket at some point.

Treasure & Bond bomber jacket (S) // WHBM sweater tank (S) // exact MOTHER Roller (raw hem option on sale; ankle version on sale) (28) // Marc Fisher boots (8) // YSL belt // Jenny Bird necklace // Kendra Scott earrings

Ooookay! It got cold over the weekend, so I threw on my new Vuori jacket to walk the dog and go to my workout appointment the next day.

Vuori jacket c/o (S) // Zella tee (S) // Vuori leggings c/o (M) // ON sneakers (9) // Jenny Bird earrings

The Phillies played that night, and we had friends over for a watch party. That’s when I realized I have no Phillies gear… only Sixers and Eagles! So I threw on my Eagles t-shirt and called it good.

Eagles tee c/o NFL Gear // similar Frame denim – 70% off! (29) // P448 sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings // similar pendant

The next day was my younger daughter’s birthday, and I cannot confirm or deny that she played hookie from school, but we did go to Starbucks and the mall at some point in the day… ahem.

This Rails cardigan had just arrived, and I couldn’t wait to wear it. I wasn’t sure I’d like the fit when I saw it online, but it’s a slam dunk! In fact, if I had known how much I was going to like this one, I might not have kept the Rails Harris, which arrived first and had already been worn.

(I ordered them both at the same time, and they’re different enough to keep both, but I love the fit of this one so much more.)

I put it on with my favorite washed black slim straight ankle jeans and sneakers for a casual mom-about-town look. I also really love this Coach bag with the outfit, although it’s not the one I actually carried. Sometimes I grab a bag that’s sitting around my room to give the general idea of what would look good with the outfit.

Rails cardigan (S) (on sale at Bloomies & Shopbop) (budget option) // Fidelity Cher (similar option on sale) // P448 sneakers (39) // similar pendant // Jenny Bird earrings // Coach shoulder bag (option)

I wore this outfit to run errands and get my hair colored, and I have no recollection why I dressed up so much, but this gorgeous Vince sweater is 60% off at Nordstrom Rack. It’s a great deal, if you can snag your size. I have the small. Also, my MOTHER Weekenders are part of the Shopbop Style Event.

Vince sweater – 60% off! (S) // MOTHER Weekender – on sale at Shopbop (29) // Vince boots (similar on sale) (8) // Yurman earrings // AllSaints handbag (sold out)

I wore the Rails cardigan again last Friday after a photo shoot with Alison.

Rails cardigan (S) (on sale at Bloomies & Shopbop) (budget option) // Fidelity Cher (similar option on sale) // similar loafers (8) // BaubleBar necklace // Madewell earrings // similar shoulder bag

I wore this next outfit to a mani/pedi appointment last Friday because the ankle-length flares are easy to fold up when I’m in the pedicure chair.

Evereve cardigan (S) // Citizens Isola (29) // Tory Burch Millers (8) // BaubleBar necklace // Madewell earrings

This one is from last Saturday night; I went to a gathering to take Homecoming pictures with a bunch of Becca’s friends. It was cold and rainy, so I started with my Steve Madden Chelsea boots and dressed from there.

I first pulled on the old faithful Fidelity Cher slim straight ankle jeans in the off-black wash, and topped them off with this camel v-neck sweater (on sale at Bloomies!) but I quickly realized that I don’t like this denim and boot combo. They look awkward, the way the line of the leg narrows at the ankle.

Equipment Madalene – up to 30% off at Bloomies (S) // Fidelity Cher (29) // Steve Madden boots (8) // Yurman earrings // similar pendant

So then I pulled out the AG Mari, which has a 29″ inseam, as opposed to 27″ on the Fidelity Cher. The leg opening is the same on both (13″) but the longer length gives a more streamlined silhouette.

Equipment Madalene – up to 30% off at Bloomies (S) // AG Mari in City View – on sale at Bloomies and Shopbop (30) // Steve Madden boots (8) // Yurman earrings // similar pendant

Here’s a side by side to compare head-on. This is a very simple outfit, especially with no break between the pant leg and the shoe (like I get when I wear black loafers with the Fidelity jeans) so it really needs a couple more points of interest. A statement necklace and/or a belt would work, although I think I prefer the clean lines of this sweater untucked, so jewelry is the way to go.

Fidelity Cher (29) // AG Mari in City View

My mixed stone necklace (seen in my next outfit) is what I would typically add to this look to give it more pizzazz, but I was just going over to a friend’s house to take pictures before the Homecoming dance, and I didn’t want to over-do it.

My leather sneakers with the Fidelity jeans would have also helped to break up the look and add some personality, but I feel like I wear them ALL the time to events with these same people, and the Chelsea boots made sense since it was raining.

Any-hoo. I’m all about dressing for the occasion, and I hate to feel overdone, so I’m fine with keeping it simple sometimes, even when you know there’s more you can do to jazz up an outfit. At least I know what I’ll do the next time I wear that sweater/denim combo to make it a little more interesting.

Okay, moving on . . . I’m almost done, I promise!

I wore this outfit to church and out to lunch last Sunday, and this time, I did add a statement necklace for some extra style points. I also carried my olive green Loewe bag that I purchased in Rome. I love the mix of browns and green.

I’m so sorry that I don’t have a link to this necklace, as it’s from last fall, but I finally found something similar at LOFT.

KUT from the Kloth Kara (M) // The Reset tank (S) // PAIGE Anessa (29) // Kork-Ease Darby Clog (8) // old necklace (option) // Madewell hoops // (similar belt) // olive bag option

And that’s it for this edition of What I Wore Lately! It was a doozie, my goodness. I guess you can tell that I’ve been having fun dressing for fall, now that our weather is cooperating, and I’m feeling better.

I’m running out the door, late as usual, so I don’t have time to proofread. Please pardon the typos!

  1. I absolutely love the cream blouse & jeans you wore to church- your legs look endless! Also the Rails cardigan- we didn’t have much of a summer here in the UK & it’s distinctly autumnal now so I’m looking forward to seeing your outfits to point me in the right direction!
    Another great post thankyou x

  2. Hi! You mention the BR jeans were loose…. did they stretch out so much that they’ll need to be washed? Currently sitting here doing the “sit test” in them. Thoughts?

  3. Great post, don’t know how you do it! I would be worn out! Ha!
I love the Rails cardigan on you and the olive bag is so lovely and really adds to an outfit!
Thanks for all the ideas, glad you are feeling better.

  4. I’m so glad that you are feeling better! I always enjoy seeing what you really wear and reading about the process you go through when pulling your outfits together.

  5. Great outfit combos. It really made a difference when you changed to different black jeans with those boots. Just adding alittle length made all the difference. I’m picky like that.

  6. Great post. I find it so helpful to hear your thought process. I thought the black jeans looked fine with the ankle boots but then the outfit looked so much better when you changed to the longer jeans. Thanks for sharing!!

  7. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I love how you explain how you put together an outfit. As I was reading this, I decided to change what I was wearing (we are just going to a market/orchard to see what they have, but I usually wear workout clothes when staying home, so I decided to think more about my outfit.) I changed to a white t-shirt (when I read this post) and blue denim jeans (rather than my fall greenish jeans.) Would love to wear longer bootcut jeans with either clogs or open toed booties, but walking around the market seems to call for sneakers.
Thank you for a glimpse into your thought process; it really helps when I am looking in my closet.

  8. I was just thinking I hadn’t seen much of your handbag purchase from Rome and then there it was! I love that whole outfit the best!
Our weather has just started to feel like fall so it’s time to enjoy the short fall season and enjoy the fall foliage before we no doubt dive into winter 🥶

    1. Yeah, the color isn’t as versatile as some, but I do love it. 🙂 I’ve also carried it a few times when I didn’t get it in a picture b/c I keep it downstairs, and I don’t always take my bag of the day back up to the mirror. 🙂 I really wish I had a full length mirror downstairs somewhere, but I don’t know of a good spot.

  9. Thanks for the reminder that loft has jewelry! Idk why I forget that. It’d also be pretty with a burgundy top.

  10. So glad you’re feeling better! The day before I flew home from NC, my mil called my sil to say that she had c-vid! My sil tested positive the same day. My mil had ridden 18 hours home in the car with my husband and our kids! 😱 Praise God we all stayed healthy! 🙏🏻 Love your outfits, and appreciate your thought process and attention to detail. I know you’re enjoying your daughter’s senior year! I’m enjoying my middle child’s freshman year, as I now know just how quickly it goes!

      1. They felt pretty bad for a few days. My sister in law especially as she’s pregnant. But everyone is fine now! Thank you!

  11. These posts are really helpful for me. It’s good to see what you’re actually wearing. I just ordered the similar pair of P448s that you linked to in the recent rainy day post, also those Chelsea lug sole boots. I have the Treasure & Bond bomber you wore to the concert and love it.

  12. Always fun to read your posts. I had to get rid of bootleg jean last year that stretched a lot. I went shopping in a bigger city this weekend. I saw so many skinny jeans and mid rise waist every where. Even stores like Loft. My favorite for everyday life are ankle straight legs. I tried some at Old Navy but they fit like skinny jeans. I’m bummed out because I like a looser leg and a high waist in jeans. I won’t go back to skin tight skinny jeans.

  13. OMG Paige has petite denim!! There are several options on their site, too. Terrible news for my bank account, HA!
