Cozy season is here, and this latest edition of What I Wore Lately is chock full of warm and comfy, casual winter outfits! Because this is what I wear on the daily, some items are not from this current season, but I found similar links for almost everything that’s out of stock.
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
I also want to call your attention to some of the sales going on because a lot of the things I’m wearing are included. I also tried to mention the sale along with each corresponding product link under the photos.

Two Weeks of Casual Everyday Outfits
I love a pullover with jeans and sneakers or boots in the fall, but it can get repetitive. This year, I’m trying to have more variety in both categories so my outfits don’t look the same every day.
This Treasure & Bond sweater is a nice option for those who don’t like to spend for cashmere or wool, or are allergic. I love the crossover v-neck and relaxed fit, and it looks and feels like a good quality sweater. It comes in a bunch of colors, and it runs true to size.
Treasure & Bond sweater (S) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // P448 John (39) // Jenny Bird earrings // similar necklace
This is a similar look with different pieces. These jeans are old, but I keep them to have an alternative to the MOTHER Dazzler that I’m wearing above. I find slim straight ankle jeans the easiest to wear with sneakers, so I wear them a lot.
I wish this sweater hadn’t sold out so fast. I love the length, the fit, and the polo style neckline. I found a couple similar options for you, though.
Also, my J. Crew Field sneakers are 25% off with SHOPNOW. I’m in the 8h (which is the J.Crew version of 8 1/2.)
LOFT sweater (S) (option) (option) // similar Frame jeans (29) // J. Crew Field sneakers (8h) (25% off with SHOPNOW) // earrings // similar necklace
This camel and black stripe cardigan is probably my favorite sweater purchase this fall. I wear it every chance I get. I wore it one afternoon with blue jeans and sneakers to go rug shopping. (You know you’re an adult when you get excited about rug shopping.)
Rails Geneva Cardigan ($50 off at Bloomies; more sizes at Nordstrom & Shopbop) (similar for less) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // VEJA sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings & necklace // similar olive shoulder bag
And this is yet another variation on the theme. I wore that same stripe cardigan with black jeans and ballet flats to church one Sunday.
This sweater, jeans, and shoes are all part of the $25 off every $100 you spend at Bloomingdale’s right now. Sizes are getting depleted, though, so I also linked them at a few other retailers.

This is another simple sweater and jeans outfit. I had a few appointments that day, so I brought my laptop along to work at Starbucks in between. I’m trying to remember to take outfit pictures with my coats too. This is a verrrrry old Burberry that I still love to wear. I linked a similar option below.
similar coat // Jenni Kayne sweater – 25% off! (S) // similar jeans // similar mules // Goyard tote (similar for less) // earrings
When I’m tired of sweaters and I need a casual top with jeans and sneakers, I love a sweatshirt with some interesting details. This raw hem hoodie with the striped sleeves from last year has been discontinued, but I still linked it in case anyone wants to hunt it down on Poshmark or eBay.
Evereve Blake hoodie (S) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // P448 Monza (39) ($75 off!) // earrings // Capital Z crossbody c/o
We went to see my daughter perform with her band one night at an, ahem… very interesting venue. Apparently, they take Halloween very seriously!
I asked Paul to take this picture because I felt like it needed to be documented. I really wish more of my outfits pictures were taken “on location” so to speak. It’s just awkward to do so much of the time, or I’m not around anyone I would feel comfortable asking.
This Equipment sweater is one of my favorite cashmere pieces, and it’s part of the Bloomies $25 off every $100 promo. Also, I love how my Capital Z crossbody adds interest to the simple look.

I shared in this post how I was feeling bored with my fall wardrobe and realized I need some new jackets to add variety to my simple outfits.
Sometimes leather feels too edgy, and I’m not a fan of blazers and cardigans, so I found a few wool blend options with bomber-inspired styling that I’m really enjoying. This is one of them, and I was just informed it’s 30% off on the Lucky Brand website!
Lucky Brand jacket – 30% off (S) (also at Nordstrom and Macy’s) // Jenni Kayne sweater – 25% off! (S) (budget option) // similar Frame jeans (29) // Sorel Joan boots (8) // earrings
I didn’t like how the jeans were getting caught on the back of those boots, so I switched to sneakers.

My taupe crossbody looks great with this outfit, so I took a quick pic as I was leaving the house. FYI, this is my favorite Jenni Kayne sweater and it’s 25% off right now. It runs true to size.

I wore that outfit again later in the week to a ladies Bible Study I attend regularly. This time, I wore a camel-colored sweater that is 25% off at Nordstrom, although now that I look at these pictures, I like the ivory a lot better with this jacket and the white sneakers.
Also, my new P448 Monza sneakers that are part of the Bloomies Black Friday promo, and my Coach bucket bag is $100 off at Saks!
Lucky Brand jacket – 30% off (S) (also at Nordstrom and Macy’s) // Nordstrom cashmere sweater (S) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // P448 Monza (39) ($75 off!) (budget option) // Coach bucket bag ($100 off!) // hoops
Here’s a better look at these sneakers. I love this low profile style, and the quality on these is really nice. Did you know P448 sneakers are made in Italy? They’re also part of the Bloomingdale’s promo, so this is a great time to grab a pair if you’ve had your eye on them.
P448 Monza (39) ($75 off!)
I wore that Lucky Brand plaid jacket and camel sweater combo again to meet a friend for drinks one night. I wore my favorite light wash flares and camel-colored boots to dress it up a bit.
As an aside, I love these boots, but I don’t think I like them with flares. A more streamlined toe, either pointy or square, is way more flattering. I do, however, prefer this color shoe with the camel sweater when wearing it with this jacket.
Lucky Brand jacket – 30% off (S) (also at Nordstrom and Macy’s) /// Nordstrom cashmere sweater (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (budget option) // old Aquatalia boots (similar) // similar belt // earrings
This is another jacket I picked up recently to liven up my fall wardrobe. I love the bomber jacket styling subtle brown plaid pattern in the wool blend fabric. I layered it over a rust-colored tee and wore my favorite MOTHER Weekenders again.
This time, I wore my brown Dolce Vita Volli Western Booties from last year, and I’m sure you can see how much better a pointy toe looks with flares.
Treasure & Bond jacket S) // Caslon tee (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (budget option) // Dolce Vita Volli (8) // earrings
I forget where I wore this, I think it was to the high school for a meeting or band event or something. I wore my VEJA sneakers with the black accents to coordinate with the black top.
Caslon henley (M) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // VEJA sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings & necklace
I’m still in PT for my arm/shoulder, as well as an on-going issue with my left calf. I’m pretty sure both issues are related to so much desk sitting, so I’m trying to move around more often.
At any rate, this is my PT uniform, I guess you can call it! I change up the colors, but I usually wear Vuori joggers with a workout tee and a sporty jacket on top.
Vuori Halo jacket c/o (S) // Vuori Performance joggers c/o (M) // Zella tee (S) // ON sneakers (9)
When I want to get really wild and crazy, I change it up and wear a lightweight hoodie instead of a t-shirt. I like this one because you can still wear a jacket on top, and it’s a little warmer than a tank or tee.
Vuori hoodie c/o (M) // Vuori joggers c/o (M) // On Cloud sneakers (9)
And this is what I often wear when walking the dog in our neighborhood. I love these cozy Athleta flares, and this Vuori insulated jacket is another one of my favorite sporty jackets for wearing with activewear this time of year.
I highly recommend every piece I’m wearing here. These are all on constant repeat this fall.

Paul and I went out for a casual dinner last Saturday afternoon, so I took the opportunity to wear that Treasure & Bond collared bell sleeve sweater from Sunday’s try-on haul.
It’s hard to see the details in this picture, but it has a cut-away collar in addition to the rounded v-neckline, and the fabric is soft and stretchy and a little more body-con than the sweaters I typically wear. It seemed like a good date-night choice!
Treasure & Bond sweater (S) // PAIGE Laurel High Rise Flare Jeans (29) ($50 off) (budget option) // Marc Fisher boots (8) (30% off) // J. Crew earrings (30% off with SHOPEARLY) // similar necklace
I was tired of wearing my MOTHER Weekenders, so I pulled out these PAIGE flares from the #NSale. The darker wash and finished hem makes them just a little more dressed-up, but there’s still enough contrast with the black that I like the combination.
My exact wash is sold out, but the Rock Show Distressed wash is part of the Bloomingdale’s Take $25 Off Every $100 promo, and these boots are 30% off at Nordstrom. I love them to bridge the gap between dressy and casual, and they’re a nice quality leather that hold up to rainy weather.
I added a statement necklace and bold earrings to liven up the simple look, and topped it off with my black leather bomber jacket.
I also carried this fun bag for color and texture. This is from my friend Lindsey’s new accessory brand, Capital Z. It’s a really nice quality bag, and I love how it pops a neutral outfit.
Pro tip: If you sign up for emails, you’ll get a 20% off code.

That brings us to last Sunday. I was getting dressed for church in a rush, so I just grabbed a few old favorites and threw them on. I know it’s plain, but I still love the combination of a charcoal grey sweater with black denim.
This is that Equipment Madalene cashmere sweater that I wore above in camel, and both colors are part of the Bloomingdale’s Take 25% Off promo, but this grey one is also on sale, so it comes to $137.96 in cart, down from $295.
The AG jeans and Vince boots are included, too. These are such luxe, gorgeous booties, and I love the low heel. They’re marked down, in addition to being eligible for the Bloomingdale’s Take $25 Off Every $100 promo, which brings them to $215.54, down from $395. Still spendy, but a good value for such a high quality and versatile boot.

This gorgeous burgundy double face wool blend overcoat kept me warm and looking chic on a chilly fall day. I love how it pops against the neutral outfit. This coat is currently marked down, plus you get an additional 50% off in cart, which brings it to $149.99, down from $369!
Talbots coat c/o (S) // Madewell bucket bag
Okay, home stretch! I wore this outfit to meet friends for breakfast on Monday.
I grabbed this sweater from the Bloomies sale, since I’m trying to add more interesting sweaters to my fall/winter wardrobe, and this definitely fits the bill. I love the polo collar, the ivory and navy stripes, and the short-but-not-quite-cropped length. It’s pricey, but the quality is nice, and I don’t have anything quite like it.
Velvet by Graham & Spencer stripe sweater (S) ($25 off ever $100) // MOTHER Dazzler at Saks or Bloomies (29) (budget option) // UGG Ultra Mini at Bloomies (Power Points) and Nordstrom (8) // earrings // similar pendant
It was freeeeeezing that day, so I brought out the big guns — my wintriest winter puffer coat and my new UGG Ultra Minis.
Whenever I see myself in UGGs, I find myself singing the song, Am I a man, or a muppet??? (In my head, of course.) Even though my feet seem to take on a life of their own when I wear them, I think these boots are super cute in a comfy-cozy sort of way, and they’re warm and on-trend, so yay!
The North Face Metropolis Puffer Coat at Bloomingdale’s (Power Points) and Nordstrom (M) // similar scarf (30% off) // YSL camera bag (budget option)
And finally, I met a friend for lunch yesterday, and I was feeling tired of all my bootcut and straight leg jeans, so I decided to pull out these PAIGE Leenah wide leg ankle jeans from the #NSale and see what I could do with them. I wore them a lot in the summer with flat slide sandals, but I don’t love them with sneakers, and I wanted to see how they’d look with booties.
I grabbed these Dolce Vita Dee pointed toe booties, which have been sitting in my closet, waiting for such an opportunity. I know I prefer a pointed toe boot wide leg jeans, and I thought this dressier style might work better with these jeans than a Western style like the DV Volli – which is probably what I would have grabbed if these hadn’t been sitting there, begging for a chance to be worn.
I also like that the Dee doesn’t have a super high heel; they don’t feel as “extra” to me as, say, the Aquatalia Luissa, which is the other pair I would have tried.
I was going to do a shorter pullover on top, but then I remembered saying I wanted to try a cardigan with wider leg jeans, inspired by this picture:
So I grabbed my Nordstrom Signature cashmere cardigan and put it over a white tank, and I added the taupe belt to break up the look and coordinate with the sweater and boots.
This is definitely a different look for me, and I know it’s not for everyone, but I think I like it for a change. Feel free to offer feedback… pro or con. I can take it!
Nordstrom Signature cashmere cardigan – on sale! (S) (similar for less) // white tank (M) // old – PAIGE Leenah wide leg ankle jeans (in stock – similar but not exact/another option – on sale) // Dolce Vita Dee (8.5) – on sale at Macy’s & Bloomies // YSL belt (budget option) // Jenny Bird earrings & necklace
Of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone, even though I was running late and really didn’t have time to play around without outfits. But then again, that never stopped me before!
This stripe cardigan was sitting out, waiting to be tried on, and I thought it might work better with this jeans and boot combo. Because of the black stripe, I changed into black tank, and I tried it both buttoned and unbuttoned.
Splendid Kendall Stripe Cardigan (S) (on sale in green) // black tank // old – PAIGE Leenah wide leg ankle jeans (in stock – similar but not exact/another option – on sale) // Dolce Vita Dee (8.5) – on sale at Macy’s & Bloomies // YSL belt (budget option) // Jenny Bird earrings & necklace
My first instinct was that the bold black stripe right under my shoulders makes them look broader than they already are, but I don’t hate it when it’s buttoned up. I just think it might look better with a different denim silhouette, and I didn’t want to commit to keeping it without trying it a few other ways.
I also noticed that the same sweater is part of the Bloomingdale’s promo, but in green. The lower contrast stripes might be more flattering on me, so I might order that to compare.
All that to say, I ended up going back to the solid tan Nordstrom Signature sweater!
It was too late to change tanks again, so I wore it with the black, but I like it better with the white… at least with these boots. If I wear a black tank, I would prefer a black boot, but again, there was no time to change again, and that would mean changing belts too, so I just went like this.
It pained my perfectionistic nature to walk out the door, knowing I could have improved the outfit if I’d had a little more time, but at least I know what I want to try next!

And I believe that’s a wrap! I know, it was a doozie, but it’s fun to play around with some new outfit combinations. I hope it gives you some inspiration to shop your closet and put things together in new ways, or maybe pick up a new item or two that is different than what you already have.

When it comes to outer wear (coats), is there any fashion rule or guideline on what length coats should be for an outfit? Does it matter when wearing jeans/pants and the leg style is flare vs. straight leg. The same question when wearing a dress/skirt; is there a certain length the coat should be?
Thanks for some feed back.
Not really, I think it’s more or less what you find pleasing to the eye, and the overall vibe you’re going for.
I love these posts. I look to your blog for outfit inspo and sourcing pieces more than anything else, and these are so helpful on both fronts. I have been wearing my tan crossbody from Capital Z daily for like the last 5 days, haven’t switched out ever since I put my stuff in it to go to dinner and drinks on Saturday night. The contrast stripe is red and black and it’s a darker tan than it looked to me on the website, which makes it pretty versatile for fall outfits. I have the black one you’re carrying as well, but haven’t worn it yet.
I’m so glad you’re loving your bags! I kind of want the tan too.
You always look so stylish and put together, and I love your commentary on what works and why. I really like the sweater combos with the Paige Leenah wide leg jeans and boots! Looks great on you and yes, it switches things up a bit. Great ideas and inspiration.
Love these posts. Love your humor! Thanks for including coats. I need inspiration in this area. I dress more casually and appreciate puffer coats.
I don’t like the wide leg jeans with the long sweater. From the front it looks okay but sloppy from the side. Probably shapeless from the back. I like them with the shorter cardigan. Wasn’t it just last year that the longer sweaters were considered frumpy? I do like the long cardigan but not with wide leg jeans whether crop or full length. You’re not short so looking taller may not be as important like it is to me. I’m not wearing crop length pants this fall winter season. I like all the jackets and coats you’re wearing.
All good feedback! 🙂 I think the boyfriend sweater style looks more “fresh” than the longer open front (buttonless) styles that were huge a few years ago. Those are the ones that still read a little tired to me. I would not call them frumpy or even really dated, as they’re a fairly classic style, but they seem tired. To me. 🙂 I’m really liking the v-neck button-up styles right now. The Nord Sig is longer than some, but I like it in a cozy, undone sort of way.
As for sloppy from back and side, perhaps. I usually take pix from the back but I guess in my hurry, I didn’t yesterday. I will, though. The back view definitely matters. 🙂 I felt a little sloppy, wasn’t sure I loved it, even as I wore it. I’ve always been a little conflicted on those jeans, but I like the ankle length pants b/c I don’t have to fuss with hemming.
I have at least 3 pairs of full length flares in my closet that I can’t wear b/c I need to have them hemmed. But yeah, it does shorten the leg a bit, which is why I usually wear a shorter top with them.
Good points. I’m glad you’re not thin skinned. I like your style and enjoy your blog the most. I follow 3 other blogs but I like your style the best. We both don’t like “precious”. 😊I’m too old for it and it’s not you.
I’m loving that Lucky plaid jacket. Having a unique piece like that elevates a casual wardrobe and makes dressing up more fun! The black Treasure & Bond sweater is a great versatile piece, too. I like it best worn the way you show it here, untucked; it seems more slimming to me.
Hi! The link to the Paige jeans goes to the gap tank top instead…. I really loved the Nordstrom cardigan with the Paige jeans on you. It’s definitely a “I just threw this on, don’t hate me because I’m so effortlessly fashionable” vibe. Agree with white tank instead of black because of boots. 🙂
Oooops! I will fix the link. And yes, this! –> “I just threw this on, don’t hate me because I’m so effortlessly fashionable” vibe.
I have the Loft polo sweater and love it. It is the perfect weight for my SE US winter. I also have the Gap version of the Rails sweater. I also love it. I like the fitted cuffs on the sleeve of it. On your cardigan outfit, I like it better with the black tank and agree with you that black boots would have been better with this outfit.I think the Graham and Spencer sweater would look better with dark wash jeans.
“I think the Graham and Spencer sweater would look better with dark wash jeans.” – I tried it that way too, I will post in my next try-on haul. 🤗
I personally love your play on the inspo pic outfit! So chic and effortless. I am leaning more into more relaxed looks like that as well. Thanks for posting and sharing your thought process!
Q about the J Crew field sneakers vs the P448 ones–can you comment on the comfort difference of the two? Padding on heel, sole squish, etc? I love the notion of both but trying to decide if the higher price point of the P448 is “worth it”. I have a pair of P448 Johns but like my Golden Goose better, for example. Thanks!
Both are very comfortable, but the J.Crew is “squishier” and the P448 has more structure. The quality of the P448 is evident, but then, it is reflected in the price tag. 🙂 And the J.Crew are nice, I just really love the materials on the P448. I would say the P448 Monza feels more like the GGDB than the P448 John, which has more cushion.
Thank you–I like squish so I think I’ll try those. They are, btw, 50% off. 😀
Just adding Field sneakers are not leather.
Ah, good catch! I didn’t realize that. I never really checked.
I do enjoy seeing what you really wear. I hope that the PT is helping. While my closet is full, I am trying to add a few pieces that are different and will add interest, as well as options.
Love the cardi look with wide leg denim. Sometimes I wish I was taller to pull it off well, but still looks cute updated to me!
Inspiring, thank you💜
Thank you–a lot of helpful options. How do the Monza sneakers fit? I like the lower profile but am not sure about the soles–do you like the look?
I love them. They fit true to size, or you may want to try a size down if in between.
The Lucky Brand plaid jacket is 30% off on luckybrand.com.
I ordered it from Nordstrom but I might return it because it is a little too short for me. I think I have a long torso. The Treasure & Bond jacket is a keeper though!
YAY! Thank you for sharing this, Becky! I LOVE that jacket, but did not want to pay full price. I just ordered it from the LuckyBrand site for $111.00! 🙂 Jo Lynne, I’ve learned so much from your blog! We have a similar style and are even the same size! You make it easy for me!
Oooh, good to know! I’ll add the link to the post, but here it is if anyone else is looking.
How do the Mother Dazzler’s compare to the AG Mari? I have a medium wash Mari in the 29″ and depending on the shoe, it’s a tad too short. I definitely can’t wear any shoes with a sock. I get tired of boots and sneakers in the winter and just want to wear a loafer sometimes! I’m having THE. HARDEST. TIME. finding a slim straight leg jean in my sweet spot of 31″
Athleta Balance Flare Pant – are they like a sweatpant material? Fleece on inside? I look at it every time you post it but have been hesitant to buy bc what even is “Brushed Nirvana?” 😉
They are soft and thick, but not stiff, and basically the same fabric all the way through. If that makes sense. Sort of a sweatpants material but softer.
I love the Leenah outfit with the beige cardigan and white tank. So chic!
I think the wide left crops look nice with the booties and the slightly longer cashmere cardigan😀
I do have question- idk if it’s just me, but the Nordstrom links haven’t been working for me lately (not just yours, but every influencer link to Nordstrom I’ve clicked in the last couple weeks or so). The link opens to the main page on the Nordstrom app, that than to the product linked. 🤷🏼♀️ Do you have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks!
I don’t believe affiliate links work in the Nordstrom app. Just on the website.
I purchased the Treasure & Bond jacket in 2 different sizes. The smaller one fits but won’t zip. The larger on is a little big but will zip? Will there ever be a time to zip it? Also, can it be worn with a print or floral top?
I never zip jackets like this. I prefer a closer fit. And I think it would look great with a print or floral top.
The Frame jeans you mentioned as similar caught my eye so I added them to my Northstrom shopping bag to consider and low and behold, while I was away today they sent me an e-mail that they were included in the black friday sale so I rushed to purchase them. So excited! My size and hope they fit!
Awesome!!!
Jolynn, do you happen to remember the style/name of your Burberry jacket? I want to check pre-owned sites to see if I can find one; most flattering one I have seen.
Thank you
I love it! I wish they still made them. It was a Burberry Brit – I don’t know what happened to that label.
