What I Wore Lately Vol. 123

Hi friends, it’s time for another What I Wore Lately! For anyone new to following along, this is exactly what it says it is, a roundup of my everyday outfits. They’re all pretty casual because I live a casual life, but hopefully you’ll find some winter outfit inspiration in here.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

This first outfit is one I wore to work from home for most of the day, after a morning photo shoot. Unfortunately, this hoodie is selling out, but if you can grab one in your size, it’s really cozy and fun to wear. I love the exposed seams and raw hem and stripe detail on the sleeves.

Another casual day at home… these are some of my most comfortable jeans, and they’re not so long that I can’t wear them with flat shoes, as long as they have a bit of a platform, like these UGG mini boots.

I ended up changing and wearing this Spanx set after doing some try-ons later that afternoon. (The Spanx top was one of the last items I tried on, so I just kept it on.)

And then, I changed again to go out that night! That’s just how it goes some days.

Paul’s office holiday party was held in January this year, at a local restaurant, and I wasn’t sure how to dress so I went with black jeans and a pretty blouse.

The blouse is from last year, so I linked a couple similar options below, and the jeans are the PAIGE Leenah Trouser. They’re an inky black wash and have a trouser style hem, so they’re a nice way to walk the line between dressy and casual. I had them hemmed so I can wear them with a low heel.

I topped it all off with my faux fur jacket, but it was probably overkill for this event. Nobody was super dressed up. Oh, well! I only get so many chances to wear it, plus it’s actually really warm, and we had to walk a ways from the car to the restaurant.

The next night, we went out to see a friend’s band perform at a local venue, so I wore my usual black and denim uniform.

This is what I wore to church that Sunday, with my black bouclé wool coat on top. These ankle-length flares seem just a tad more dressy than the full length pair above, and I tend to wear them with heels when I want a more elevated look.

Rails cardigan (S) // MOTHER Hustler in Healing Jar (29) (budget option) // Vince Hilda (8) (option) // Madewell earrings & necklace set

We went out to eat afterwards, and then I came home and changed into my Vuori Granite Funnel Neck and High Waist Flare for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

I spent most of that Monday working from home, and I decided to try out my new KUT from the Kloth utility jeans. I’m happy to report that they’re quite comfortable for all-day wear. They don’t bag out in unfortunate places, but they do have enough give to be comfortable.

I have no recollection of where I went the day I wore this next outfit. There’s nothing on my calendar, but I clearly went somewhere because I would not have put on a coat otherwise.

I wore this denim skirt outfit after a photo shoot to run some errands afterwards.

When I got home, I changed into jeans and sneakers with the same sweater.

And then I changed my tops later in the day to go see my chiropractor. He works on my arm and shoulder, so I figured the t-shirt would be easier to through with than a sweater.

I did absolutely nothing with myself the next day, but I still took a picture because I’m committed to these posts. LOL!

That brings us to last Thursday. I worked from home after my morning workout, and then I had to run out to an appointment that afternoon, so I pulled on jeans and a top for that.

Z Supply pullover (S) // MOTHER Pixie Dazzlers (29) (budget option) // Vince sneakers (8) // Lagos earrings // similar pendant

I wore this casual outfit to get my nails done last Friday. I love this cozy pullover with the side stripe detail.

And then we went out to dinner that night, so I switched into a slightly more elevated look. This sweater is from last season, and I like the ankle flares with these low heeled almond toe booties. I topped it off with my black bouclé wool coat, but I didn’t get a picture with that.

Naadam sweater (S) // MOTHER Hustler (29) (budget option) // Vince Hilda booties (8) // Lagos bracelets one & two // Jenny Bird earrings // similar pendant

This picture is from my parents’ house. We traveled to Virginia last weekend for a quick visit. I wore the Spanx set to travel, and also to hang out for a while before I changed to meet my high school bestie for lunch.

This is what I wore to lunch, and for the rest of the evening visiting with family. I shortened these jeans, and I sort of wish I hadn’t gone quite so short, but it’s so hard to know if I’d like them any better if they were longer. Typically, I like to see a sliver of ankle with sneakers and slim fit jeans like these, but something looks a little off to me.

This outfit is what I wore to church last Sunday. These pants are new, and they’re really comfortable. If you need work wear, or just an occasional alternative to denim, I highly recommend them.

Back home on Monday, I wore this casual look to work from home and run some errands. This hoodie is last year’s version of my green Kerry Tape Trim Hoodie.

I’m happy they shortened the strings in this year’s version, because these are ridiculously long. They’re always getting in my way, but I do love this color. This is the small, but I have the medium in the green. They both fit okay, but I do like the way the medium gives me a little extra length in the body.

And then I wore this yesterday to meet a friend for lunch. Most of it is old and no longer available, except for the jeans, which I’m really enjoying!

They’ve got a bit of a wider flare than some of my others and I think the color is nice for a change. Plus, they’re very soft and stretchy and comfy, which I always appreciate in a pair of jeans!

  1. I really like the whole outfit with the denim skirt. When denim skirts first came back (last year?) I thought, no way for me, but it looks fantastic on you. It’s actually somewhat tempting! I also really like the wide leg Spanx pants but if I remember correctly they don’t come in petite. That’s one of the things I really like about Gap and Athleta…they have petite lengths in their wide leg athleisure pants . Thanks for the post. I love your What I Wore posts.

  2. Thank you for this post! Always love them. I really like the Michael Stars pullover as well as the Jenni Kayne sweater.

  3. I wish I hadn’t hesitated on the EverEve hoodie. Seeing the comparison of the two sizes, I think I’d be happier with the larger size. But now the L is sold out in both colors.

  4. Funny that you asked about the dab & go. I have not used the Tarte brand but I did get influenced to buy the Maduv brow system. While I find the brows hard to do and a little heavy for my liking, I’ve started using the dabber to conceal my roots. I’ve gotta believe that the big ego concealer is about the same. I say go for and let us know how it is!

  5. I love how you’re wearing your Vince coat with a casual outfit– I purchased a similar Splendid coat in beige from Evereve and was waffling over how much wear I would get from it, but you’ve inspired me! And BTW I’ve been using the Tarte Dab & Go for some time now and like it very much. It’s SO much easier to use than the sprays, and I won’t lose any white T-shirts to overspray. You do have to practice a bit if you use it around the hairline, but otherwise it’s foolproof!

  6. I also love your “What I Wore” posts! As for the Paige Gemma that you hemmed, I can see them in the warmer weather with sandals. Since the ankle is slim, maybe you can roll one larger cuff? Worth a try! And with the red sweatshirt, I know that bows are trending and most in this group probably won’t go big on bows, but maybe you could have a subtle bow moment by loosely tying a bow with those extra long and annoying strings.

  7. These outfits are not in the same week right? I know I saw the black jeans and blouse for the party before. You’re right about the slim jeans being off. They look like skinny jeans and I am not used to seeing you in them.😊

    1. Nothing wrong with the slim jean except they look skinny and your eye has changed. I still need to figure out jeans. Wearing the same two straight ankle and cuff ones.

  8. I’m liking the sweatshirt/jeans/sneakers/Lagos hoops outfits. Those feel very relatable to me right now. I don’t know why but I feel like I’m backsliding into casual lately and have ended up in a black tee and jeans half the time for weeks, which is my default “I don’t know what to put on today” outfit. I need to start making more of an effort. Also, currently eyeing up the various 18k gold versions of those Lagos studs you have… not like I don’t have enough earrings. Have a great day!

  9. I use the Dab and Go concealer between hair appointments. It works great! You have to take your time and do a through job if you have a lot of gray to cover but it stays on til your next shampoo. Not messy at all. Love it.
