Happy hump day, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately, where I round up my everyday outfits from the past two weeks. As usual, I linked up available options for sold out items, and similar for less options where I could.

What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Two weeks ago today, I had a hair appointment to cover up those pesky gray roots. This was the “before” picture, obviously. I’m always chilly in the hair salon, so even though it was quite warm outside, I pulled on this long sleeve top and jeans. I cuffed the sleeves to give them more of a 3/4-length look.

Faherty pullover (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) (option) // Birks (39) (also at Nordstrom) // Jenny Bird earrings
Ahhhh… this is so much better! The next morning, I was up and out bright and early to attend the Senior Awards Ceremony at our high school. It’s weird how that event seems like so long ago, now that graduation has come and gone.
FYI, these white pants are 25% off with a Bloomingdale’s Credit Card or 20% off no matter how you pay. They’re a nice breezy culotte-style with trouser style hems. And if you like my blue Splendid stripe top, you might also like this chambray split neck top or this pink stripe one, which are both part of the Bloomingdale’s sale. I just ordered the pink one.

I came home and did some try-ons after the ceremony was over, and then my daughter asked to go to the mall. I was still wearing this white top and flares from the try-ons, so I just kept it on rather than changing again. Unfortunately, this top is selling out at both Nordstrom and Madewell. I really like the crisp white linen and the short, boxy silhouette with the flares.

We decided to go out to eat that Friday night, and I pulled this all-black outfit together. I first tried it with raffia slides because I like how they relate to the raffia hoops, plus I thought they might lighten up the dark outfit, but they seem more out of place than anything.

Evereve Sarina V Neck Tank (S) // KUT from the Kloth Topaz Linen Pants (6) (also at Zappos) // Sam Edelman Deacon Raffia Sandal (8) // similar FRAME belt (M) // raffia hoops // Jenny Bird Ola Bangle // Madewell necklace set
Plus, I wanted to carry my raffia crossbody, and I didn’t want too much raffia, so I switched to my black STAUD leather flip flops.

At the last minute, I also threw the Evereve Camp Jacket on top in case it got chilly, which it did. I was glad I had it. I considered a jean jacket, but I felt like that might take away from the elegance of the all-black outfit, so I tried the black jacket, and I think it works.
I pushed the sleeves up because I feel like long sleeves look too heavy with the cropped pants. (When I’m wearing cropped pants, I like to see some skin on top to balance out the skin on the bottom.) I also added my new gold Jenny Bird Ola Bangle and Madewell necklace set for some extra shine.

That Saturday was a lazy day. The kids were all occupied, and all of our friends were busy, so Paul and I just hung out by the pool all afternoon and evening. I like this Amazon coverup, but I think the medium size is too big, plus I get hot in the long sleeves, so I ordered the short-sleeved version in the size small.

I broke out my pink linen pants for church the next day. I have more details on this outfit in this post.

KUT from the Kloth Meg (6) (also at Zappos) // Splendid tee (M) // denim jacket (S) // beeks sandal (8) // NAGHEDI Nomad Hobo in Cashmere (similar for less) // earrings // old Jenni Kayne necklace
I’ve had some questions about how these wear throughout the day, so I took two sets of pictures. These were taken before church, at around 10AM. As you can see, the pants are just a smidge tight in the rear, but they look good from the front.

linen pants test: first thing in the morning
The next pictures were taken that afternoon after going to church, out to lunch, and then to the mall. The pants are drooping a little in the front, but nothing major. The waistband was still in place, and the rear view actually looks better than it did that morning, despite a few extra wrinkles. So my advice with these pants is, buy them a tad snug. I was tempted to size up, and I’m glad I didn’t.

Once we got home, I changed into denim shorts and a graphic tee for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

I wore this next outfit to a doctor appointment last Monday. I haven’t worn this denim skirt as much as I thought I would, so I intentionally styled an outfit around it.
My 18-year-old daughter even commented on it and said how much she liked it, so I consider that a win. I definitely felt more polished than I do in my usual jeans and top ensemble, even when I add a 3rd “completer piece”. I’m going to have to start wearing skirts more often.

This was a casual look I wore to run some errands the next day. I threw on my Capital Z slingbag just for the fun of it. I like how it brightens up this neutral grey and denim outfit, and I have to say, it’s convenient to be totally hands-free.
Fun Fact: This brand was started by a friend of mine. I love supporting a small start-up businesses!

And yet another casual denim outfit for errands and things.

Evereve Cruz Sleeveless Hoodie (M) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (option) // Birks (39) // Lagos hoops & bracelet one & two
I actually put this top on first with the MOTHER Dazzlers from the day before, but after looking at this picture on my phone, I felt like it needed flares to balance the wide shoulders. So I switched to the MOTHER Weekender (as shown above). I also put my hair up before we left for the mall because it was bugging me.

Evereve Cruz Sleeveless Hoodie (M) / MOTHER Dazzler (29) (option) // Birks (39) // Lagos hoops
Okay, so that brings us to last Thursday, and I had an appointment for a mani/pedi. Wide leg jeans are perfect for that, and these Frank & Eileen gaucho jeans are sooo soft and comfy.

Last Friday, I did some work at home before heading to the airport to pick up my parents for their graduation weekend visit. I like how these white shorts coordinate with the white sun graphic in the graphic tee, and they really pop against the olive green. I also wore my lighter colored Birks to keep the look light and neutral; these are the Sandcastle.
FIT TIP: This t-shirt runs verrrry small. I sized up to a large. Besides that, it’s super soft and lightweight and comfy. Highly recommend!

That night was my daughter’s high school graduation. I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear until it came time to get dressed. I wasn’t happy with how I looked in our family pictures with the Tommy Bahama wrap dress, which was my original plan.
I liked it in the mirror here at home, but I didn’t like it in the pictures with my daughter. Isn’t it weird how that happens sometimes? I don’t know if it’s how I was standing next to her or what, but it looked really weird around the waist area.

I had been looking around for something in red or red/white, since that is her school colors, but nothing seemed quite right. I considered wearing this blue and white floral knit dress, but it seemed too busy, and I really didn’t want to wear blue. If I wasn’t going to wear red, a black dress seemed to make the most sense.
I had laid out a couple other options from my closet to try, but once I put on this black knit tank dress, I knew that’s what I wanted to wear. I don’t know why I didn’t try it before. I’ve had it since last summer, and I know I like it. It’s a really nice quality fabric that doesn’t cling to the lumps and bumps, and I love the timeless design. The knee-length hemline with side slits and scoop neck tank style top are very flattering.
I wore the raffia slides and hoop earrings to lighten it up a bit and keep it summery, as well as a gold link necklace and gold bangle for some elegance and shine, and I carried my LV Graceful in the Azure print. It’s probably too casual for this look, but it was the perfect size for bringing along extra tissues, my charging brick, and a small bottle of water to get through the long night on the bleachers.

I sure wish I’d worn this dress for the professional photos we took with Becca because I was much happier with how I looked in the iPhone pictures from graduation night. I only wish we’d taken more time to get better pictures, but it was crowded and chaotic, and I was just grateful that everyone was there together and looks happy.

Okay, that’s enough about that! We spent most of Saturday here at home, and I wore the same white shorts and Birks as the day before, but this time I threw on my blue palm tank with them so I could get some sun on my shoulders when we were sitting on the deck.

Evereve Leo Palm Tank (M) // KUT from the Kloth shorts (similar shorts) (8) // Birks (39)
Later that afternoon, I changed into this casual dress to go to a friend’s graduation party. It has such a nice shape to it, and I love the raw cut edges and subtly distressed hem. I wore my Birks for the comfort factor, as I figured we’d be standing around for a few hours, but my Paul Green sneakers would have looked cute too.

Frank & Eileen Lauren Polo Dress c/o (S) // Birks (39)
On Sunday morning, when I went to get dressed for church, I considered wearing this all white outfit, but I decided I didn’t care for it once I had it all together. I felt like a nurse. I think it needs a better variety of textures or something, like a white eyelet top instead of linen, maybe.

Madewell linen shirt (S) (also at Nordstrom) // Paige Claudine (29) (option) // YSL sandals (option / option)
I didn’t have much time, so I quickly switched into this green washable silk top. I knew it would work, and I didn’t want to waste time trying other options. I like how the brown accessories warm up the look, and because it’s all very simple, I added polished gold “love knot” earrings and a bold bangle for a little extra shine. These earrings are surprisingly lightweight, and they really pack a punch.

After church, I was feeling chilly for some reason. I guess our A/C was set too low or something because it was beautiful outside. Anyway, I pulled out this lightweight cotton popover top to put on with my jean shorts. These Frank & Eileen pieces are pricey, but the quality is so nice, and I love the details.

Frank & Eileen Patrick popover c/o (S) (option / option) // KUT from the Kloth Jane (6) // Birks (39) // earrings
I wore this casual shorts outfit again on Monday to run some errands, this time with my P448 sneakers.

Sundry Golden Hour Tee (L) // KUT from the Kloth shorts (similar) (8) // similar P448 sneakers // Dragon Diffusion tote (option)
And later that day, I changed into my swimsuit and coverup to host friends by the pool. This short-sleeve coverup fits better in the small than the long-sleeve one in the medium, but I feel like it would look better if was a little longer. Oh, well! It works.

Amazon coverup (S) // La Blanca swimsuit (10) // Dolce Vita sandals (7.5)
And finally! I threw on this white and denim look to follow up with my foot & ankle doc yesterday. He said my ankle looks great, he’s surprised that I’m not struggling more with lack of stability considering the extent of my injuries, and I’m free to resume all normal activities. He even encouraged me to start running again, if I want, so we’ll see…

And that’s a wrap!

Two weeks doesn’t seem long until the end of the school year, huh? Is C wearing mesh ballet flats in the graduation family photo? Does she like them? What brand are they? They intrigue me because they’re fun, cover my feet, and keep me cool. Am I way off?
They’re Vivaia – she loves them. She has brown flats and their boots, as well.
I was interested in her sandals as well. Thanks for the link, although I am not able to find her sandals on their website.
I love the “what I wore lately” posts, and how you break down each outfit and critique it. Provides me with so much inspiration! Thank you!
I love it all! It seems like you have a larger quantity of things than usual. Could you start sharing what colors you get for mani/pedi each time?
Sure, it’s Dutch Tulips for the pedicure and Funny Bunny for the mani.
I’m drawn to that Faherty top every time you wear it- finally placed an order and can’t wait to receive it!
I think you’ll be pleased. It’s a really nice quality and pretty much a 3-season wardrobe piece.
I like the white linen top. It’s the perfect length for you. Have you heard that the front tuck is getting dated? I saw a YouTube video about that yesterday. I’m going to keep doing it because some tops are so long and I don’t always feel like tucking all the way especially if I’m going to be eating. The jean skirt is cute too. I think the black dress doesn’t emphasize your waist in the first photo because of how you’re standing. I like both black dresses. I haven’t seen you wearing the barrel jeans. Did you keep them?
Terri, I’ve heard that about the front tuck as well, that it’s now considered a cringey style by the younger crowd. It’s a shame because it’s often the easiest/most comfortable solution for pairing longer tops with cropped pants or shorts. Sometimes I still do it, but I’m trying to minimize and just buy shorter tops.
Yeah, I think it depends on who you are looking to for what is in style. Last winter, when I was asking my 18-y/o daughter if an outfit looked okay, she said to me: “Mom, literally NO ONE does the front tuck anymore.” It gave me pause, but then I realized that is because she is looking at her friends, and they are all wearing those tight cropped tops that may or may not touch the top of the waistband of their pants. Of course those tops aren’t getting front tucked.
But when I go to the Evereve website, which is geared to women my age with my sense of style, I still see a lot of front tucking going on. That’s how I gauge what looks dated or not for me personally.
That said, I definitely finding myself gravitating more towards tops that are a good length and shape to wear untucked, like the Splendid stripe top and the Madewell linen top, and I do think we will start to see less of the front tuck as time goes on and styles of tops continue to get shorter and boxier.
I did not keep these barrel jeans. 🙂 It was more of a quality issue than the cut of the jeans. They look so cute online, but I recall not liking the wash in person.
Thanks for this discussion about front tucking—I’ve been wondering the same thing but love how the front tuck solves so many issues for me. At 5’3”, tops can run a bit too long & I don’t like to tuck shirts in all the way around… And being over 60, I’m not comfortable in anything too cropped!
I feel like it’s phasing out, but sometimes it’s necessary. It just depends on the style of the top and what you’re wearing it with, and the overall proportions of the outfit.
I still see front tuck on line too along with side tucks. I’m still trying to buy more shorter tops which is hard because even petite tops sometimes are too long. I even saw somewhere that the tunic is coming back. 🙁Thanks for answering my questions.
What fabulous news on your ankle! Once again, thanks for sharing some of your thoughts regarding the outfits you wear. It really is very helpful. I really like what you wore for Becca’s graduation.
Thanks, Ginger.
Respectfully disagree today—I looove the raffia slides with the black pants outfit. 😁
LOL! You are certainly welcome to disagree. 🙂
Same here…gave the look a summer feel.
I loved that outfit too! The raffia slides made it more summery to me. I also liked the all white one but laughed at your nurse comment! I’ve been a nurse for 15 years and have never worn white scrubs. I think the only people who would even think that are the older retired nurses who wore all white way back in the day.
That’s all I could think of — the old fashioned nurse’s outfit you used to see on TV, lol! It might be the shape of the top and the v-neck. Of course, back then, they were probably in skirts, lol.
With white pantyhose and “nurse shoes” from what I understand! Thankfully that was well before my time! Although I have gotten a laugh out of hearing the older nurses tell tales of working cardiac arrests in a skirt. I do agree tho, maybe it’s the slightly boxy cut that is giving you that vibe? Might be fun to play around with the all white palette in different silhouettes.
I always love reading your discussion of why you chose what. It helps me think about my outfits (I never give them that much thought, but I should.)
What color nail polish are you wearing? I am going for a manicure (I usually do my own, but we are going away for a week to visit old friends, and I decided to go for it. I get regular pedicures, but I don’t usually have my nails done.) Thank you.
The white is Funny Bunny and the red is Dutch Tulips.
Thank you!
Too much black for summer! I love the blue/white swirl dress and it was so flattering on you and is perfect for any summer event graduation, party, out for dinner etc.
I enjoy wearing black in the summertime. 🖤 To each her own!
I just bought the OPI Funny Bunny and the Bubble Bath. I saw online the perfect pinkish white and they said do 1 coat Funny Bunny and Two Coats Bubble Bath. I haven’t tried it yet. Thought you might like to for your next visit.
Love these post. You really have your style down and look good in all Jean styles. You are so right in the photo with the white boxier top when you switched jeans to balance out the wider shoulders on the top. The flares do look better. Our weather here in NW Oregon keeps switching back to sun and rain and it’s hard to dress. Ready for all sun.
I love these posts of what you actually wear! They do give me inspiration!
Thank you, I love all of your outfits. That olive silk top looks amazing on you. Quince has a short sleeve linen boxy top similar to the Madewell if anyone is interested. I’m going to try your all black look one evening this summer 😊
Nice family photo at graduation! (I think the Capital Z bags are way overpriced. They are very cute but I can bring myself to spend that much money on those small bags 🙁 )
That’s great news about your ankle!!
Hi Jo-Lynne. The arm holes of the Evereve Jane Pullover sweater look a little big from the photos. Do you find that your bra shows under the arms?
No, it doesn’t. That’s another reason why I love it.
My favorite outfit is the all-black top, pants & jacket. Simple and so, so pretty.
