Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately, where I round up my everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks. I’ve been to Nashville and back, and our weather has been very up and down, so this is quite a mix of looks.

What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
FYI, Saks is running a Gift Card Event, so I’ll link to Saks when I’m wearing things that are included in that promo. I’m also working on post for that, that will be up later today. I know it’s not a sale, per se, but so many designer items are included that never go on sale. Earning a gift card is the next best thing!
We’ve had a very warm fall, so I’ve been trying to wear lightweight tops in fall colors, and this deep brown cowl neck top is one of my favorites. I pulled it on with light wash straight leg jeans and taupe loafer mules to run out to an appointment. I tried the top both front tucked and untucked, and both work, but it’s rather plain. I felt like it needed a belt.

When I went back to my closet to grab a belt, I decided to try the look with these new camel suede pointed toe mules. I added a medium brown belt and grabbed my new tote in the caramel glazed leather, and I all of the sudden, this looks like an intentional outfit. Also, these Splendid mules are on sale at Bloomingdale’s.

I didn’t do much the next day, and I threw on this simple look after my Pilates class to work from home and run the dog to the groomer.

I threw on this casual look the next day to hang out with friends on their patio.

And then the next morning, I flew down to Nashville for a girls’ weekend. I somehow managed to fit everything in a carry-on and personal bag. Yay me!

When I got to Nashville, it was quite warm. I checked into my hotel, shed my jacket, and went to meet my daughter for lunch and shopping. I wore these boots all day, from about 6AM to 6PM and walked all over two airports and a shopping mall, and my feet were very happy. Highly recommend, if you can nab your size!

The next morning, I met my daughter for breakfast and brought her birthday gift. It had turned chilly overnight, so I threw on my bomber jacket to walk to the restaurant. I found this Clare V. woven crossbody at Evereve, but it sold out, so I found it at Bloomingdale’s. It’s really pretty in person, I love the woven suede and leather checkered pattern.

I came back to my hotel, worked a while, and that afternoon I took an Uber over to Franklin to meet up with Cyndi, Dawn, and Lisa. We rented an Airbnb right downtown, and it was so much fun.

That night, we went out to celebrate Lisa’s birthday. The mirror in my bedroom was at a dramatic tilt, and I struggled to get photos that weren’t totally distorted, but here’s my best attempt. I got this gorgeous emerald green silk Vince cowl neck blouse on sale a few weeks ago, and I paired it with dark wash flares and added leopard slingback pumps to keep the look elevated. I tried it left out and front-tucked with a belt.

I feel like it looks more interesting and finished with the belt, but ultimately I decided to keep it simple and leave it out. It has a really nice shape to it when left untucked, and when I front-tucked it, it kind of buckled in the back over my hips.

Here we all are, such a fun group of women!

The next day, we went exploring downtown Franklin, and also met my friend Shelly for lunch. I went casual, and actually wore my VEJA sneakers most of the day. I changed into these mules to go out for a casual dinner that night.

And the day after that, we drove over to Columbia to explore another town. It’s in a revitalization phase, evidently, and I can see that it has lots of potential. There are so many cute shops there.

Here’s another group picture. I absolutely loved this shop. I got a gorgeous fall table runner and some candles that I managed to fit into my carry-on tote bag on the way home.

We were pretty tired when we got back, but we decided to rally and dress up and go out to a nice dinner for our last night in Franklin. It was a warm night, so I used the opportunity to wear these croc-embossed slide sandals I brought with me. I really did not need to bring so many shoes, but since I had them, I wanted to wear them!

This is what I wore to travel back to Philly last Thursday. I cannot believe I wore these boots both ways and then never needed them when I was in Tennessee. Such a waste, lol! But I really had no idea what we’d be doing or what anyone else would be wearing, and I thought I might want a pair of boots.

The next day, I did nothing besides go to a nail appointment, and I didn’t even bother to put on makeup. I did play around with my new MOTHER Weekender bootcut jeans in the Layover wash, though. I was trying to make sure they weren’t dragging on the ground with these low profile Vince sneakers, and they just barely work. I wish they were a smidge shorter, but maybe they’ll shrink up some in the wash. FYI, these jeans and sneakers are both part of the Saks Gift Card Event.

That brings us to last Saturday, and we had some of Paul’s family over for lunch. I like the Gia Cowl Neck Top so much that I got the evergreen color, but unfortunately it has sold out. Also, these silver tone J.Crew earrings and bracelet are new. I ordered them when I was writing that post on everyday jewelry.

And then I met a friend for dinner on Sunday night, and I just threw on this super casual outfit.

I didn’t do much on Monday, but yesterday, I met a friend for lunch, and I tried a few of my fall jackets with this sweater and wide leg jeans. FYI, this Nili Lotan belt is part of the Saks promo. I love it, the croc embossed dark brown leather adds just a hint of texture and elegance to my outfits.

Ultimately, I decided to go with this brown corduroy jacket. I felt like the Hendriix was kind of a murky brown, and I’ve worn the green Amanda a few times.

It did feel a little plain, tho, even though I added that stone necklace. Someone asked in my comments yesterday what top I would pair with this jacket, and I started thinking it through. It might look good with camel; now I wish I hadn’t returned that Treasure & Bond short sleeve sweater in the Bear color. Or even maybe a lighter shade of brown, like this tee in Cocoa. Monochrome is so popular right now.
I was also looking for an animal print tee, but I didn’t find much. You have to tread lightly with animal print fabrics, or it can look really cheesy. I sort of like the idea of a snake print tee, but I feel like the corduroy jacket is a smidge too casual and rustic for that. Chocolate brown also looks good with pastels like blue or pink, but I don’t know that I’d like that for me personally. What do you all think?
After I got back from lunch, I changed into more casual jeans and a sweatshirt, and I wore this to a friend’s house last night to catch up. And that, as they say, is that!

Thank you for sharing, love all the outfits. I love the KUT jackets! I get the dilemma with the corduroy one. I like it with white…maybe an ice blue? I am not sure about the pink as you mention–maybe a cream or off white might work? I like the olive color best and will probably order it. I was looking for something similar for our trip to Italy (which we just returned from)-something lighter weight with stretch that is versatile but never did find anything really. Any other ideas for future travel that is light weight…but versatile and classic-Talbots one you featured? Thanks again!!
I love the Talbots one, equal parts classy and casual. It might be the most versatile.
I bought this for an animal print T for fall (https://www.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=7745303810001&locale=en_US#pdp-page-content) TBF, I tried it on and hung it in my closet and then promptly forgot about it. But it’s a good neutral I can wear with anything. Not sure what my plans are for this weekend yet but it now includes wearing this T.
I always love these posts and I pay attention to items you continually reach for and think about that when I make my own purchases.
That’s nice and subtle!
I enjoyed seeing your pictures of Columbia, Franklin, and Nashville. I grew up in Columbia, lived in Franklin while my kids were in school, and now live in Nashville.
With the Zinnia brown jacket, I think the white looks nice and clean. Would navy work? When I think about what I have in my closet, that is what I would try. I agree that camel would probably look nice as well.
Oh, that’s cool. Columbia is really cute, seems up and coming. I don’t think I’d do navy, maybe a lighter blue. The sweater I’m wearing is a soft ivory.
Love to see your WIWL posts. Especially enjoy your commentary on the thought process for each outfit. I’ve been waiting for you to comment on the animal/leopard print “return” and “cheesy” really got my attention! Your recent mention of a search for brown sneakers made me hit pause on my own quest for leopard print sneakers. I would appreciate your thoughts on brown vs leopard in the sneaker dept. Thank you!
Yeah, I think it’s one of those things where you have to tread lightly, haha, no pun intended. It’s hard to describe the difference, you just know it when you see it.
I had not thought of pairing pink or blue with rich brown until you mentioned it. Both of those are better for me than all neutrals, and I like it! Thanks for heading me in a new direction.
Glad it’s helpful!
I love the travel outfit and all the full length jeans outfits. The brown jacket outfit looks good just like you styled it. I would wear the jacket with an ivory or camel top. Also with leopard. I also love the brown bomber jacket. In looking at photos of various bloggers I see you all look the tallest and slimmest in full length flare or bootleg jeans. Second in full length wide leg jeans. I was looking of photos I took of myself and I came to the same conclusion. I remember reading that where your pants end that’s how long your legs will look. I know we don’t all dress to look taller including short me. However if I am going to be in photos I’m going to keep that in mind. You look great in all your outfits but especially the ones with full length pants in my opinion.
It was nice seeing the group of ladies together and getting a glimpse of each one’s personal style in their choice of clothing. I do like the shorter brown jacket you wore a few nights ago. I bet a light pink top would look nice with it. Our weather is on a roller coaster for sure-going from highs in the 60’s to highs in the 80’s and somewhere in between. I almost need clothes for all four seasons in my closet year round. I hope you have a great day!
Hi! Thanks for this post…so helpful. I notice the extra length in the Amanda jacket slims your body! I struggle with the shorter tops and jackets at 67 years old and 20 lbs overweight.
What about a green top with that brown jacket. I still laugh thinking the tree comment another user made. It did ruin me for putting brown boots with a green dress, but I don’t think the same effect would happen with a top and jacket. I agree it’d also look good with camel. I even think it could work well with a warmer red? Especially in fall shades like russet?
Also maybe I missed it but do you mind linking the orange sweater in your travel home pic?
Are you using anything different with your postings? Lately the photos won’t download on my laptop, only the writing. I have to move to my IPHONE. Heading to my phone now.
What happened to all the comments. I can’t see them in Duckduckgo and chrome. It says 15 but only one is showing for me.
How did you pack all those shoes in a carry-on?? Please share!! I struggle with carry on when I have more than 2 extra pairs of shoes.
I don’t even know, I was determined, lol. I had to sit on my suitcase to close it. I also fit one pair in my personal bag.
Cute outfits.
I keep waiting to see you style the blue Caslon jacket that you recommended from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I bought that jacket on your recommendation. Wondering how you’ll wear it.
I love pink and I think the right color of pink would look great with the brown corduroy. Maybe more of a mauve? I don’t know… I would have to see it on. I also love all of the Kut jackets! I have a super cute , but a little dtated skinny Kut jeans with the most beautiful embroidered flowers on them. I worked in a pharmacy that also was a boutique and they carried the Kut from the Kloth brand so I got them for 40% off! I am hanging onto them for now! I loved this post as always !
I’m so glad you enjoyed your weekend in Nashville. I adore Franklin. Next time we go to Nashville, I’ll be sure to check out Columbia. I LOVE the chocolate brown trend. I’ve always liked the color, but it’s been hard to find for years. I can’t wear all shades of brown – I need the deeply saturated tones, so I plan to watch for classic pieces in that shade. I looked everywhere for a pair of the Veronica Beard boots in brown in my size, but I couldn’t find them. So sad. But I think we’ll see more brown for at least another season, so I’ll keep my eye out for a good pair of “upscale” Chelsea boots in that color. I have a pair of pointy-toe Chelsea boots in black from Vagabond and they are my go-to with jeans and slacks.
