What I Wore Lately: Everyday Summer Outfits

Hi friends! It’s already Wednesday again, if you can believe it. Today I’m sharing another What I Wore Lately roundup with all of my everyday outfits from the past two weeks, plus some notes on where I wore them and how I put each look together. It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and I’ve got lots of summer looks to share, so I hope you enjoy it!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

But first, the usual disclaimer: This is what I actually wore as I went about my everyday life, so it can get a bit repetitive, and some of the older items are no longer available. I’ll link up other options and similar-for-less styles where I can.

My Everyday Outfits from the Past Two Weeks

This first look is from a casual day working from home. I know some of you cringe when you see me wearing jeans in the middle of summer, but my house is air-conditioned, and honestly, I find them more comfortable than shorts!

This graphic tee, fray-hem flares, and Birks combo is nothing new for me, but I was excited to debut my new T-shirt. (I sized up to a large for a more relaxed fit and to allow for any shrinkage in the wash.) I love the play on the MOTHER heart logo because, well… I am one, ha! And of course, it’s my favorite denim brand.

I pulled out my PAIGE Anessa wide-leg ankle jeans (on sale at Bloomies!) and this fresh green-and-ivory striped muscle tee sweater (on sale at EVEREVE) for my biweekly mani/pedi last Friday. I love how the gold sandals and rattan bag keep the look light and summery.

This is me on my way to Pilates on a Saturday morning. I love my Tower class!

I met a friend at the mall that afternoon for some shopping, and then we grabbed dinner. I snapped this pic in the EVEREVE dressing room. I was excited to wear my new chocolate brown sweater tank from the #NSale, and I love how the brown jelly sandals coordinate with it.

The olive bag is the one I purchased in Rome, and as some of you may remember, I thought it was charcoal when I bought it! I was disappointed at first to realize it was actually olive, but I do like it. It just doesn’t seem to work with a lot of my outfits, so I’m happy browns are trending for fall. It’s the perfect complement!

I picked up this cloth & stone Trim Detail Button Back Tank at EVEREVE while I was shopping in-store, and I wasted no time wearing it to church the next day. To me, this top practically begs to be paired with white jeans because of the white crochet trim.

I opted for full-length flares to elongate the look, and becaues the extra volume at the hem helps balance the boxy top. And the J.Crew earrings and woven slides in a soft beige pick up on the beige tones in the crochet trim.

That evening, we went to a friend’s house for a casual birthday celebration. It was super hot and humid, so I paired white shorts with this lightweight neutral button-up tank and added gold strappy flat sandals (another EVEREVE find from my shopping trip the day before—more sizes at Amazon) to keep the look light while dressing it up a bit. I kept the beige chain-link earrings from earlier in the day and layered on a gold link necklace to fill in the neckline.

I wore this outfit home from a photo shoot the next day and kept it on while I worked at my computer that afternoon. I love this light wash denim skirt with the shoelace drawstring waist, and I think it pairs so nicely with the bright pink muscle tee.

I finished off the look with white adidas Sambas with mesh inlays and a trendy gum sole for an easy, casual vibe. Sadly, this White/ Off White/ Gum color way seems to be sold out in most sizes, and I couldn’t find them anywhere else online.

I had a few appointments the next morning and wanted to look a little more put-together than usual, so I grabbed my white frayed-hem ankle flares, paired them with a red muscle tee, and added gold sandals.

I felt pretty proud of myself for leveling up with white jeans on a regular weekday… but this was just a few days before I started debating whether white jeans are still in style. Now I’m not feeling quite so chic in this look, LOL! (But seriously, I still like it. For where I live and for my personal style, I’m perfectly happy with this outfit.)

I changed into an easy t-shirt and jean shorts for the rest of the day.

I repeated this outfit to meet a friend for lunch the next day, but this time I wore sandals instead of sneakers. I think I actually prefer it with the sneakers, though. I feel like the more casual shoe works better with the shoelace-drawstring skirt.

We went to the Phish concert that night, and I had planned to wear the same pink top with the denim skirt and just swap the sandals for sneakers. But at the last minute, the pink tee felt like a bit much, so I went back to my closet and grabbed this graphic tee instead.

It was super hot and humid, but this outfit felt casual enough for the event and kept me comfortable. Knowing I’d be sweating, I kept my jewelry minimal and carried an old HOBO crossbody bag—it’s my go-to for concerts, amusement parks, sightseeing, and more.

The next day I had a hair appointment, and I pulled out my new Frank & Eileen wide leg trouser jeans and paired them with this white lace-up sweater tank and t-strap sandals. Probably a little overkill for the hair salon, but it’s always chilly in there, so I wanted pants—and these are nice and lightweight. I feel like the sweater tank is just elevated enough to balance the trouser-style jeans, and I chose the T-strap sandals to finish the look and keep it light on the bottom.

I wore this white denim look to dinner with a friend last Friday night for a belated birthday celebration. I hadn’t worn this Rails top in a while, so it was fun to pull it out again. It’s currently on sale at EVEREVE and Bloomingdale’s! I love the light, airy color palette—it feels so fresh for summer.

This was another Saturday morning Pilates outfit. I grabbed these teal leggings on sale at Nordstrom a few weeks ago, and they’re still available. They’re my absolute favorites—so soft and stretchy, with a high-rise waist that holds everything in smoothly without any pinching or creating lumps and bumps.

I wore this casual look to go out to dinner with my daughter that night.

I decided to change it up a bit and wear black linen wide-leg pants to church on Sunday. I paired them with this printed mesh top from White House Black Market (currently 40% off). It’s a great transitional piece since the colors will work well into fall.

WHBM Ruched Mesh Tank – 40% off! (M) // Maeve Colette linen pants (29) // Tory Burch sandals (8) // Jenny Bird earrings

After church, I changed into a more casual outfit to meet friends for a late lunch at a burger spot. I still love the simplicity of a black top with blue jeans, and the gold sandals help keep the look light and summery. I played with a front tuck and considered adding a belt, but I’m just not feeling it these days. I decided to keep it simple.

Monday was mostly spent working from home, and I wore this easy stripe tank with shorts ad flip flops.

Then yesterday, I grabbed another pair of white jeans and a red tee to work from home and run a few errands.

And that’s a wrap on the past two weeks of outfits! I hope this gives you some inspiration to shop your closet and try a few new combinations with pieces you already own.

  1. Love all of your outfits!! I had mentioned in your white denim post how I love the black white combo. The new tank from Evereve with your white denim is fab!! Love every look you’re styling. I have to stay I duplicate many of your looks…lol. And I’m learning the value of quality over quantity when it comes to my purchases.
I finally tried Mother denim at the Nordstrom sale, why do the pockets ride so low in my rear!!? I loved the quality and the look from the front tho. At 62, my rear is just not my best quality lol!!
    Cheers!

    1. I would love to know the answer to the Mother denim back pockets thing too. Why do they ride so low? But like Ellylj I like the look from the front! And yes it might be my rear as well — LOL!

    2. Funny, I was noticing my rear view the other day, and thinking maybe MOTHER jeans aren’t as flattering on me as they once were. But it was an older pair, rather than a newer one (that looked better) so maybe they are just too softened up at this point to offer the shape they once did.

As far as them sitting low, some are lower than others, but in general it’s always worked for me b/c I have the dreaded “long butt” (LOL) so when the pockets sit low, they are often in the right place on me. Whereas PAIGE jeans sometimes the pockets are too high. It’s one of those things where some brands work better for some women than others. If MOTHER pockets are too big and too low, try PAIGE jeans. They tend to be smaller and higher.

      1. Thanks so much for your input!! I guess it’ll be trial and error with regarding the rear view look. lol

  2. Love these posts and all your looks. Inspires me to track my outfits. I’d be curious to see what I look like every day.

  3. Great outfits. Same question about Mother pockets. I have noticed some other brands have low pockets. I have Paige with same thing. I feel so dumpy in the rear view. I don’t think it is a bum issue, since menopause has not changed that part of my body blessedly. LOL

  4. I was wondering if you can tell me what size you are wearing in the Evereve pink muscle tee. You state both a medium and small in the captions.

  5. As I look at the outfits where you are wearing your white denim (or white shorts), all I could think is, whether white denim is on trend or not, those looks are “you”. So I say, wear them with confidence! Your WHBM church outfit, by the way, very chic.

  6. Have a fun time in Lancaster with Cyndi and her husband and dad. Glad you could meet up! We are all waiting for some pics! 😉
And all these outfits are great. Love those new F&E wide leg jeans and it made me search for a similar pair I have had for many years from JJill. Same light weight denim, same full length, wide leg. So happy to pull them out to wear now and into the Fall.

  7. Thanks for the inspiration! We keep our central AC set on 75, which keeps part of the house comfortable, and we have a window unit in our bedroom for sleeping. In our previous home, we had three different AC units, so it was easier to control the temp in various parts of the house. Because I’m in & out of the house numerous times throughout the day, shorts are what I live in at home. And I sweat so much and very easily, so the loser fitting clothes I can wear, the better.

  8. I love the look of the Frank and Eileen Trouser jeans. I had a pair probably 20 years ago now from Banana Republic that I loved even though I remember compaining that they were too high waisted which means they sat perfectly 2 inchdes below my belly button which is the perfect rise for my body. I just didn’t know it then. I’ll be on the lookout for a cheaper option of those. I’ll be unemployed in a week and F&E is completely out of my budget.

  9. I am going to see Old Dominion in concert tomorrow evening in Indiana & it will be 95 degrees! I was considering wearing my knee length blue jean skirt & after seeing your outfit for the Phish concert, I think I will go with that. 🙂 And a very light weight shirt. 🙂
    Thanks!

  10. You do a great job varying your outfits by making small changes. I need to get better at that. I tend to get in a rut and wear the same outfit combos over and over. I am really drawn to your Kut drawstring jeans. I think it’s such a cute style and these are the only drawstring jeans I’ve seen that fit like a normal jean at the waist and hips. So many ones I see with drawstrings are elastic waist and seem to add bulk to that middle fluffy part that I don’t need! Please remind me if you think they will work into the fall and winter? I’m not sure I’d get enough wear out of them during the summer to make it worth buying them. Thanks!

  11. Its too hot in the midwest to wear my drawstring denim–or any long pants for that matter! I love the drawstring denim skirt–you would think that would go on sale soon for being kinda near end of summer (hopefully). I’m not sure how the drawstring pants will be for fall-but maybe on those warm, sunny days.

  12. You look great in all your pics and I love you saying when you wore what when. It gives me great ideas. At 74 I’m sadly not into shorts lol but many of your shorts could be swoped for capris or cropped pants. And yes I would chooose white 😀

  13. In the middle picture of the collage at the top of this page – can you send a link to the tan bag that you are carrying in the middle picture with the brown scalloped edge tank?

  14. Jo-Lynne, since you pointed out the Bloomingdale’s sale and I have both the Tahari sheath dress and the Ming Wang dress (on the Dillard’s site) pulled up, would you have a preference between them as far as versatility for more formal occasions? Thank you very much!
