Happy Wednesday, friends. It’s time for another What I Wore Lately! This batch of outfits goes back to February, before our trip to St. Lucia, and includes a mix of everyday looks I wore for working from home, casual outings, church, and meeting friends for dinner. Nothing too fancy here—just real-life looks and a few “outfit evolutions” as I played around with some newer pieces in my closet.

As always, some of these outfits worked better than others, but I hope seeing how I style pieces in different ways gives you a few ideas for your own wardrobe.
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes these days, so fit notes matter.
Outfit 1: Casual Contrast Trim
These photos start back in February, well before our trip to St. Lucia. I wore this casual look for a day of working from home and then to host our small group from church that evening. This boatneck sweatshirt with contrast trim from J.Crew is such a great casual transition piece, and these are my old favorite MOTHER Dazzler jeans. I love them, but I just ordered this pair from AYR to try a similar option that feels a bit more updated.

Outfit 2: Casual Dinner Out
The next day was another work-from-home day, and a friend texted to see if I wanted to grab a spontaneous bite at a local casual spot for dinner. I was already wearing this super casual look with my Ruti On The Loose Pants, so I decided to just roll with it. I put on a little makeup, threw my hair in a ponytail, and headed out the door.

Outfit 3: Casual Sweater + Jeans
I had a photo shoot the next day, and when I got back home, I ended up wearing this casual look for the rest of the day. I think this sweater looks better with slightly shorter jeans—it feels a little short with this pair. It’s a really cute sweater, though, and you’ll see it a few more times below.

Outfit 4: Simple Sunday Look
I shared a separate post with what I wore in St. Lucia, so we’ll just skip right over that part of the timeline. When we got home, our weather was surprisingly mild for a few days. This is what I wore to church the day after we got back. I was in a bit of a rush, so I threw on this simple transitional outfit since I’d worn the combination before and knew I liked it.

I added a belt and a trench to give it a more finished look and carried an ivory bag to keep it light.
FYI, this Vince sweater, the MOTHER jeans, and my Veronica Beard flats are all part of the Nordstrom Spring Sale—they’re 25% off right now! (And there are more sizes of the jeans on sale at PAIGE. They’re having a Friends & Family.)

Outfit 5: Cozy Afternoon at Home
I changed into a more casual look for the afternoon to hang out with the kids. Becca was home from college, so I made a family dinner and we played games later that night. See how this sweater looks better with slightly shorter jeans? These are the Madewell Jules I featured yesterday, and they’re still on sale. It looks like they extended the Insiders Event.

Outfit 6: Trying New Spring Pieces
I didn’t go anywhere the next day, but I wanted to play around with some of the new spring styles that had arrived while I was away. I like this sweater and these pants, but I’m not sure I love them together. It’s a lot going on.

Zoella Sweater (M) // PAIGE Ari Drawstring Wide Leg Pants (30) c/o (petite option) – 25% off (also at Nordstrom) // Steve Madden Lucia (8.5) // Jenny Bird Gemma
Outfit 7: A Better Combo
I swapped the striped polo sweater for a simple black tank, and I like this combination much better. I’m not sure the sneakers do a whole lot for the outfit, but I just wanted to be comfortable at home.
FYI, these pants are 25% off at PAIGE and Nordstrom. They’re super comfortable and easy to wear.

Outfit 8: Easy Stripes
Another easy combo for a work-from-home Monday. This tee is part of the Splendid sale, by the way (40% off with code VIPONLY thru 3/18). I have the small, but I kind of wish I’d gone with the medium for a looser fit, which I think is how it’s meant to fit.

Splendid Kacey (S) – 40% off // Madewell Jules (29) – 25% off for Insiders // Birk Madrid (39) // Baublebar earrings c/o // pebble pendant
Outfit 9: Subtle Barrel Jeans
I had a photoshoot the next day, and afterward I ended up wearing these two new pieces from Social Threads. The Risen jeans are a subtle barrel shape, and the red tee from Free People is a really nice slub fabric with subtle details like exposed seams. It’s simple, but updated and feels like a fresh take on a classic tee-and-jeans combo.
If I were going out, I would probably add a few more accessories, but I just threw on my new Crocs sandals and called it good.

Free People Nova Tee (M) c/o // Risen Wren (30) c/o // Crocs Miami (8) // Baublebar earrings c/o // LOFT bracelet
Outfit 10: Easy Work-From-Home Look
Keeping it simple and casual again with this sporty grey raglan sweatshirt and relaxed straight MOTHER jeans. The sneakers are my fleece-lined slip-ons that I love wearing at home—they feel like slippers but still look like I’m dressed.

EVEREVE Heritage Sweatshirt (S) // MOTHER Lil Kick It (30P) (regular length) // Dolce Vita Sariya (8.5)
Outfit 10: Pop of Coral
I had a mani-pedi appointment last Friday morning, and I threw on these wide-leg jeans because they’re easy to roll up. I was also starting to feel a little tired of straight-leg styles. I added the coral cardigan for a fun pop of color, but it’s still cozy enough for the chilly weather we were having. Both of these wardrobe favorites are on sale right now!
I added some simple silver jewelry to coordinate with the buttons on the sweater, but I didn’t have time for makeup. You can also see that my sweater inspired my nail color choice for the next two weeks! (Sorry, I can’t remember which shade it is.)

EVEREVE Marilyn Cardigan (M) // PAIGE Anessa (29) – 25% off (more sizes, also on sale) // TKEES flip flops (8) c/o // similar necklace // Jenny Bird Tome Hoops (small)
Outfit 11: Spring Cashmere
After my mani-pedi appointment, I came home, showered and got ready, and then i spent some time doing try-ons. We had plans to meet friends for a casual dinner, so I started playing around with this new Quince sweater that came in recently. It’s a beautiful lightweight cashmere, and I like the subtle dolman sleeves and henley button placket—such nice little details. (I do think I could size down, though.)
I love grey with white denim in the spring, so I tried it first with the KUT Kelsey, but I struggled with shoe choice. I don’t love these dark loafers with the look. While I like the shoes themselves (they’re super comfortable and really nice quality), they’re a bit harsh with this outfit. I wasn’t feeling any of my other options at the time, though.

Quince Mongolian Cashmere Dolman Sleeve Henley Sweater (M) // KUT Kelsey (10) // Black Suede Studio Gabby Loafer Mules (39)
Then I tried it with the Gap wide-leg pants and my Ruti On The Loose Pants. I really want to start integrating non-denim pants into my everyday outfits more often, but I just couldn’t see myself wearing either of these to the local bar and grille, lol!

Quince Dolman Sleeve Henley (M) // Gap Easy Wide-Leg Pants (S) // Ruti On the Loose Pants (8) c/o // Margaux The DEMI (39)
So I ended up back in the trusty Madewell Jules, and I first tried this combo with the loafer mules. Here’s how the sweater looks untucked and front-tucked.
Since it’s a bit oversized, I felt like it needed the tuck, but I ended up leaving it out. It’s still short enough that it doesn’t throw off the vertical proportions too much, and sometimes simple just feels more authentic.

Before we left, I swapped the loafer mules for sneakers since the venue was so casual. These sneakers are on major sale at Zappos right now, by the way. They’re really fun and on trend, and I love the two different laces. Fit note: I sized up to a 9 in these.
I kept my jewelry to a few simple, classic pieces, including this new Mini Diamond Tennis Bracelet from Ring Concierge. It’s very delicate but has a ton of sparkle. I know the trend is to stack them, but I kind of like it on its own.

Outfit 12: Easy Weekend Layers
I went to the mall on Saturday with Paul and a couple of the kids. It was a spontaneous trip, so I didn’t have much time to get ready. I threw on some light makeup and this easy look. It’s simple, but I really like the proportions.

On a whim, I added my new Sam Edelman trench and the Clare V. woven crossbody bag, which really pull it together and make it look more polished.

Outfit 13: Navy + Olive
For church on Sunday, I first tried the PAIGE Ari wide-leg pants with a navy henley sweater and Madden Mary Janes.

RD STYLE Akleja Henley Sweater (M) // PAIGE Ari Drawstring Wide Leg Pants (30) c/o – 25% off (also at Nordstrom) // Steve Madden Lucia (8.5) // VESTIRSI Eden c/o
Outfit 14: Casual Sunday Style
It felt a little top-heavy to me, so I switched to the PAIGE Anessa wide-leg blue jeans and cognac flats. I carried a bag that coordinates with the shoes and added the light beige trench again.

Sam Edelman Mac Coat (S) // RD STYLE henley sweater (M) // PAIGE Anessa (29) – 25% off (more sizes, also on sale) // Jeffrey Campbell Fathom Flats (8.5) // Mulberry Amberley // Yurman hoops // similar necklace // tennis bracelet c/o Ring Concierge
I didn’t have a lot of time to play with outfits that morning, so when I got home, I tried this striped collared sweater and switched back to lighter shoes. I think I like this version even better. The outfit I actually wore felt a little plain in comparison.
Also, this sweater is part of the Splendid VIP sale – use code VIPONLY thru 3/18. I have the small, but I think I could have sized up to the medium for a more relaxed fit.

Splendid Aydin (S) – 40% off with code VIPONLY thru 3/18 // PAIGE Anessa (29) – 25% off // Steve Madden Lucia (8.5)
And that’s a wrap! I’ve just been working from home the past couple of days and didn’t wear anything particularly noteworthy, so we’ll end it right here. I hope you spotted a few outfit ideas you might want to try.

I too struggle with shoe color to wear with white jeans and a grey top although I do own some grey wedge croc sandals (not the ugle crocs) I guess you could wear silver for sure or white tennies but year……
Also, funny that when I first opened this email I believe it said it was Monday THEN clicked and it said Wednesday which confused me because “I” thought it was Tuesday when it really was Wednesday – gosh not getting out of the house skews your days up 🙂
Oops, it looks like I did have Happy Monday in the email. 🤦🏻♀️🤪
I like a nude flat with white jeans and grey top.
Yes, that would work. I don’t really have a pair. I have lighter and darker but not a good “nude” that is close to my skintone.
I tried that J Crew sweatshirt. I thought it was so cute in the picture. Ordered the x-small and it looked ridiculous, it was huge 😖
It does run really big.
Our weather is giving us whiplash-one day it’s winter so I need fleece lined clothes; then the next day it’s in the 70’s & 80’s, so my clothing needs to be lightweight. The grey top with the white jeans does look so nice together.
Whiplash is right! It was 67 a couple days ago.
Shoot,I thought you were wearing a size 8 in the Dolce Vita white shoes. I ordered the wrong size! Ugh. 😩 Just saw it on your post, we wear the same size. Great inspirational outfits. Keep them coming!
How did you know the black sweater was going to look better with shorter jeans??
The sweater is pretty short, and it looked off balance with the longer jeans.
Seems every time you reach for something that isn’t blue jeans, you end up changing into blue jeans. Hope you get comfortable in the others soon.🥰
Outfit 6 with shoes for outfit 7 would work. The top in outfit 6 is too sporty for Mary Jane’s. The sneakers balance out the “activity” IMO. Love the look otherwise!
Great outfits! Thank you for being super relatable. Could you do a post one day on how to style barrel jeans/pants? I love the look but sometimes struggle with what tops to wear. As I age, I am beginning to feel like a rectangle and I love that barrels break that feeling up a bit.
