What I Wore Lately

Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately, my bi-weekly roundup of everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks.

These looks fall between two trips to Florida, and I spent most of my time getting caught up on appointments and everyday life, so it’s a very casual mix—but I still tried to put together some fun outfits, even if I was just running errands or at home.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29–30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes, so fit notes matter.

Two Weeks of Everyday Spring Outfits

These looks start on the day I flew home from Florida after spending a week in Ponte Vedra. Pardon the grainy photo. It was still dark outside, and I snapped this quickly in my hotel room using my front-facing iPhone camera and timer.

I flew home in white jeans, a graphic tee, sneakers, and my denim jacket. I really like this look for a casual travel day; I wish I’d gotten a better photo of it.

The next day, I threw on this cozy sweatshirt with one of my favorite pairs of jeans and my trusty Dolce Vita sneakers to take Savannah to a vet appointment.

And I spent the following day at home, catching up on work and house things until Becca arrived that afternoon for a quick Easter weekend visit.

I changed into shorts and a t-shirt after my Saturday Pilates class.

And we made spontaneous plans to go out for a casual dinner that night, so I changed into jeans and a sweater. I debated which shoes to wear.

The lighter pair coordinates nicely with the sweater, but I prefer the contrast of the darker pair and the way it grounds the look, so I went with those.

Also, these PAIGE Anessa jeans are 40% off and fully stocked! They’re one of my all-time favorites. And these Jeffrey Campbell leather flats are also on sale in my tan color. They’re very comfortable, and the squared-off toe with the narrow vamp gives them a modern edge.

That brings us to Easter Sunday. It turned chilly and rainy overnight, so I threw on this cozy cashmere cardigan with ecru denim and added suede perforated slingback pumps. I felt like the colors still gave a nod to spring while keeping the look cozy and comfortable.

I layered two delicate necklaces from Thatch, added gold hoops, and unbuttoned the top and bottom of the cardigan to open it up a bit. I finished it with a waterproof trench and an ivory shoulder bag.

After church, I changed into blue jeans and flats to make dinner for the kids. I played around with opening the sweater up a bit more to show the tank underneath, and I really like this effect. If I’d had more time before church, I might have styled it the same way with the ecru jeans.

I tried to get a close-up of my jewelry, but I don’t think it’s in focus. Trust me, it’s really pretty in person! Thatch is a new-to-me brand, and I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve tried so far.

Monday was an “admin day,” and I didn’t go anywhere, so I just pulled on these comfy Vuori pants with probably the oldest t-shirt I own. It’s the Splendid Kate V-Neck, which they still sell. I remember finding it at Bloomingdale’s… it seriously could have been 10 years ago.

Anyway, let’s just say their stuff holds up. It’s also incredibly soft and comfortable.

Another casual day, mostly working from home. I pulled out this lightweight slub “beach sweater” with my favorite straight ankle jeans and added these fun Keds Mary Jane sneakers with the beige stripe and black trim.

I went to the mall one day and wore this cute ribbed top with olive barrel jeans and mesh Mary Jane flats.

It was chilly, so I topped it off with my Quince windbreaker. The woven bag adds a bit of pattern to keep it interesting.

I changed after I got home into a graphic tee and comfy pants.

The next day was another work-from-home casual day. I wore the Madewell Jules and Dolce Vita sneakers with this J.Crew sweatshirt with the boatneck and contrasting trim.

By last Friday, our weather was warming up, and I felt like dressing cute even though I was just going to get my nails done. I wanted to wear my new brown leather flip flops with the stone embellishments, so I paired them with this lightweight brown bomber over a striped tank and my PAIGE Anessa jeans with the twisted outseam.

I washed and dried these jeans hoping they’d shrink a bit, but they didn’t, and they felt a little slouchy. I do like that ultra-casual look, but before I brought them on this trip, I ended up cutting a bit off the bottoms.

I came home, did a bunch of try-ons, and ended up wearing this fun graphic tee with my straight ankle jeans for the rest of the day.

We decided to go out to eat at the last minute. It was just a casual spot, so I kept on what I was wearing but switched to sneakers and threw on a jacket.

Saturday was another chilly day, and I had a hair appointment. I wore this navy cotton henley sweater with these fun FRAME jeans. I’ve had them for a while but haven’t worn them much because, like the Anessa, they’re a bit long for flats. I washed and dried them, even though it pains me to put premium denim in the dryer, but it didn’t help much.

They’re so borderline that it’s not worth paying to have them hemmed, so I’m just going to work with them. I think they’re fine with these sneakers, but I can’t really wear them with flat sandals.

Then for church on Sunday, I pulled out these new white jeans and paired them with a red cardigan. It’s a simple look, so I added a bunch of accessories and unbuttoned the top and bottom of the sweater to open it up a bit.

I changed into casual blue jeans and flats for the afternoon. I cooked lunch for the family, then hosted a few friends that evening to catch up before I left for my trip.

There was nothing photo-worthy about what I wore on Monday, but Tuesday morning I was up bright and early for our trip to Florida. To fit everything for two weeks into a carry-on and personal bag, I wore my heaviest shoes and jeans on the plane with a simple white t-shirt and the Splendid Lounge jacket in Moonstone.

I could only justify one pair of blue jeans, so I went back and forth between the PAIGE Stevie and the PAIGE Anessa with the twisted outseam. I ended up going with the Anessa since it feels a little more casual and beachy to me. Also, the white jeans I brought are a slim straight ankle style, so I figured I’d change it up with a wider-leg blue pair. (I did end up cutting them. They’re a bit short with these athletic sneakers, but they work perfectly with flat sandals and flip flops.)

I do plan to share everything I packed for this trip, and of course what I wore, but I’ll wrap things up here for now.

  1. Love your posts. Reminds me that everything I need to look stylish is already in my closet!

Any chance you’ve run across a 2-piece knit skirt set with a cut out back above the bra line? I saw one on a girl in a restaurant but wasn’t able to stop and ask her where she bought it.

  2. We just got back from a 2 week family vacation in Florida. I’m so jealous I’d love to be back there.. our weather here is warming up slowly but not quite where it should be..
While I was away I shopped Loft quite a bit.. I was very surprised at how much their style of clothing had changed (in my opinion ) not as old looking if you know what I mean… I left with quite a few great neutral pieces! We don’t have loft here in Canada where I am and shipping is expensive so I definitely took advantage of the 50% off sale they were running at the time.
    Have an awesome trip!

  3. I really like the red sweater and how you styled it. And your graphic tees look great! While my shoulder is recovering, I can only wear loser fitting tops that are super easy to get on and off, so I am really having to put some thought into my outfits. At least I can reach my ear lobes now, so I can wear earrings to help complete my outfit, even for PT. I am still so impressed with how you packed for two weeks in two carry-on’s. My toiletries are my biggest challenge, however, I have had to simplify my daily routine since the surgery, so I plan on not going back to my old ways, which means I don’t have to pack as much.

    1. Yeah, decanting and using travel sizes is key. As is cutting back on what I use daily while I’m away. I have to really be strict b/c I like to have all lotions and potions, lol.

  4. Thank you so much. What do you think of these Paul Green loafers as a transitional shoe in the spring and potentially summer to be worn with jeans or white/ecru jeans? Paul Green raffia Delta woven loafer in Sisal Diva Nubuck color. I have medium brown shoulder length hair and medium tan skin color.

  5. Loved the white pants with the red sweater! You look so good in red! I wore my white jeans with a red top and red ballet flats yesterday and felt very stylish!
