MY THOUGHTS: I thought I included this in last week’s try-ons, but maybe I only shared it on Instagram. This is a nice, modern option for a cardigan with the open mesh design, and it’s really cute on. It has a shorter, boxy fit that’s right on trend, and it also comes in black, but I thought this shade of beige would work really well with my spring capsule this season.

Fit note: It seems to run a bit big; I’m wearing the small, and it’s plenty roomy.

VERDICT: Keeping. I have a feeling this will be really useful as the weather warms up in Philly.

Caslon Shaker Stitch V-Neck Pima Cotton Cardigan in White

MY THOUGHTS: This is another nice cardigan option—more traditional with the shaker stitch and V-neck button-up boyfriend design, but I like the length a lot. It’s not as long as we were wearing them when I styled my infamous mustard cardigan and leopard scarf with skinny jeans, but not short and boxy either.

It feels like a versatile style, and the white is easy to wear with so many things. It also comes in a classic navy-and-white stripe for a bit of a nautical vibe.

Fit note: This one seems to run small; I’m wearing the medium and it just fits. I didn’t try buttoning it, and I probably wouldn’t at this length; I prefer it left open.

VERDICT: Keeping. In fact, I wish I’d brought it with me on this trip. I’ve been wanting something easy to throw on over tees and tanks when it’s chilly here in the mornings.

MY THOUGHTS: I’ve been wearing this set on repeat here in Florida. VERDICT: Definitely keeping—already wearing it a ton.

PAIGE Tatum 32 Inch Wide Leg Jean in Crisp White

MY THOUGHTS: I’ve been wanting a full-length white trouser jean for dressier looks. I loved my PAIGE Leenah a few seasons ago, but sadly I outgrew them, and they no longer carry them in white. I decided to try the Tatum and the Sasha.

They’re similar, but the Tatum (wearing here) has more of a mid-rise (10 1/4”), and the Sasha (sharing below) has a high rise (11 3/4”). Both lengths are listed as 32″, but as you’ll see, the Sasha seems to be a smidge longer on me.

I really like the long, lean, leggy silhouette they both offer, and the crisp white denim is nice and soft and thick enough not to be see-through.

PAIGE Sasha 32 Inch Wide Leg Jean in Crisp White

MY THOUGHTS: These have the same fabric composition and almost identical fits, except that extra inch and a half in the rise is a real game changer for me. Whereas the waistband of the Tatum cuts across my fluffiest part, the higher waistband on the Sasha is much more comfortable and doesn’t create that dreaded muffin top, but the length isn’t quite as friendly.

I don’t know why they’re different, since both are supposed to be 32″ and they’re the same size, but anyway!

VERDICT: After much debate, I decided to keep the Sasha and wear them with my only pair of 3″ heels—the Sam Edelman Elissa. Here’s how that looks. (I wore this outfit to church last Sunday.)

MY THOUGHTS: While we’re on the topic of denim, PAIGE kindly offered to gift me a pair of the Stevie Ankle Straight to try. I wasn’t really in the market for another pair of straight ankle jeans, but far be it from me to turn down the opportunity to try a new PAIGE style!

As it turns out, I love these. PAIGE has been hitting it out of the park lately. They have a nice high rise with a clean, straight silhouette and the perfect 28″ inseam to hit right at the ankle. They’re super soft with a bit of stretch, and this Lisbon wash is really nice for spring and summer.

Here’s how I wore them to host friends at my house last weekend, with raffia slides and the same red cardigan as above.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping these! I almost brought them to Florida with me, but I packed a similar style of white denim (the PAIGE Mason), so I decided to bring a wide-leg style for my blue pair (the PAIGE Anessa Twisted). Ironically, all PAIGE.

I feel like PAIGE is taking over the spot in my closet that MOTHER denim used to hold. It’s interesting how, as our bodies change, the brands that work for us change too.

EVEREVE Iver Garment Dyed Raglan Tee in Poppy Red

MY THOUGHTS: Okay, moving on from denim… this cotton slub tee is a great closet basic for the season. You know I love a raglan sleeve, and this shade of red is so pretty. Unfortunately, I took a gamble and only ordered one size, and my gamble did not pay off. The small is too small, so I returned it and ordered the medium.

VERDICT: Returning and reordering the medium.

Nina Raglan Tee in White

EVEREVE Nora V Neck Muscle Tee in Green

MY THOUGHTS: I love this shade of green and the flattering V-neck and raglan cap sleeves, but if you’re thinking this feels like Groundhog Day, you’re not alone. Yet again, I ordered one size—the small—and once again, it is too small. I give up! For now and forevermore, I will order two sizes… although it wouldn’t have helped in the case of the white tee, because I actually need a large in that one. Go figure!

VERDICT: In this case, I feel like the small just fits, and once I wash it, it will be too small, so I’m returning it and reordering the medium.

KUT from the Kloth Jane Short Stripe in Navy/Ivory

MY THOUGHTS: These shorts are kind of fun. I like the classic navy and white pinstripe pattern, and they’re soft and stretchy. The 4 3/4″ inseam is a nice mid-length—long enough to feel on trend but not cutting off at an awkward spot on my leg.

That said, the size 8 is quite snug, and the 10 1/2″ rise creates an unflattering muffin top, which shows quite a bit with this white tee that is also a bit snug on me.

VERDICT: I returned them and may reorder in the 10, but I haven’t yet.

Wit & Wisdom Gracie High Waist Cotton Blend Denim Shorts

MY THOUGHTS: These jean shorts have a nice medium/dark wash with subtle whiskering and a clean, finished hem. I’m guessing the inseam is about 4″, even though they don’t provide that measurement and I didn’t think to measure it myself in time.

The theme continues… they feel a bit snug to me, even though I acknowledge that they look pretty good in this photo. As usual, it comes back to the waistband. I also wish the rise was higher.

VERDICT: I returned these. I’m not sure if I’ll reorder in the 10, but I do need a new pair of blue denim shorts, so we’ll see…

MY THOUGHTS: If you’re looking for leggings that hold everything in and give you a booty that looks like you spend hours every week in the gym, look no further! I know, that’s a big sell, but seriously, these are so good. They also have a nice high rise (it’s way higher than 9 5/8″—at least you can pull them up so that it is).

They do cut in a bit at the waist when I sit, so I think I might want to size up to a large. Otherwise, they’re amazing.

The BoostUp High Neck Tank is just okay to me, but I really love these leggings.

VERDICT: Keeping both, because I like to have a matching set.

SPANX AirEssentials Half Zip in Rain

MY THOUGHTS: I have this half zip in black, so I already know I love the design. I think this Rain color is so pretty, and it’s a nice option for spring/summer. The flattering raglan sleeves, the collar that isn’t too large, and the 23″ length with the softly banded waist all work together to make the perfect pullover for athleisure looks.

VERDICT: Keeping. I could maybe size up to a medium for a bit more of a relaxed fit, but I think the small works..

MY THOUGHTS: I love this new straight-leg silhouette in the SPANX AirEssentials line. They’re much more streamlined and flattering than the wide-leg pair I have and wear a lot for travel. I just wish it didn’t have that tie at the waist. It isn’t necessary to adjust the waistband (at least not for me!), and it just adds bulk.

VERDICT: Love these, keeping! I actually ordered the black pair, too.

MY THOUGHTS: I also really like this slim straight, ankle-length pant. It’s flattering and a nice option for those who worry about their pants dragging on the floor in airplane restrooms. This oatmeal color is a bit warm for me, but it’s a nice light neutral for summer. I also love that it doesn’t have a tie at the waist, which isn’t needed and just creates extra bulk.

MY THOUGHTS: This top is a nice match to the pants and a good alternative to the AirEssentials Half Zip if you prefer a more relaxed waistband, and I like it better without the zipper, which can feel cold against the skin. It hangs straight, and the 24″ length works well with either style of pants. The classic polo collar feels a little more polished than a basic crewneck.

Fit tip: I went with a medium in this one, and it has a nice relaxed fit. I’d be curious to try a small to compare, but I feel like this is probably the better size for me.

VERDICT: I’ll hold onto this set for now, but I wish I’d requested a different color. That Sage is really pretty.

Varley Aleone Runner

MY THOUGHTS: I forget how I came across these. Maybe it was an email from the brand? Anyway, I ordered them because I’ve been on the lookout for a black sneaker I can wear with black pants or jeans that doesn’t feel too heavy. I’ve tried quite a few, and nothing ever seems quite right, but I think this might be it! I love the contrast stitching and white accents, and the runner style is on trend without feeling too athletic for casual outfits.

The only odd thing about these is the sizing. I recommend sizing up, so I ordered the 9, but I feel like it’s still too short—my toes were right at the end. I hope it’s not just that they’re too pointed for my square Fred Flintstone feet, because I can’t imagine needing a 10… but I ordered one to try.

VERDICT: I’m holding onto these until the 10 comes in so I can compare.

MY THOUGHTS: Even though these are 100% cotton, they’re super soft and comfy. I love the wash on them, too, and the 11″ rise, but the 33″ inseam is way too long for me. I’m wearing 3″ heels, which is as high as I go these days, and they’re still dragging.

I was in a rush the day I tried them and didn’t play around with styling, but I do want to try them with the Crown Vintage platform sandals when I get home and see if that works. If not, I may have them hemmed.

VERDICT: I’ll have to figure out what to do with these when I get back home.

Thigh Society The Cooling 5″ Beige

MY THOUGHTS: I get asked all the time what I wear under dresses in the summer, and the answer is Thigh Society Cooling Shorts! These aren’t shapewear—they’re just meant to keep you cool and comfortable and prevent chafing.

They saved me when we were in Italy a few years back and it was 100 degrees every day. Now I won’t leave home without them if I have a dress in my suitcase. They’re super lightweight, so you can wash them out in the sink and rewear them. (I wear them over my underwear.)

They also sent me The Cotton 5″ Black to try. They call them loungewear, but honestly, I wouldn’t wear them without something on top. Still, they feel great on if you prefer cotton.

VERDICT: Keeping both, but I feel like I could size up. I’ve always worn the M/L, but these are a bit tight on the thigh. I would order the L/XL next time.

FYI, longer lengths are available, and they come in sizes up to 5XL/6XL.
