What I Wore Lately Vol. 54

Happy hump day, friends! You know what that means — it’s time for What I Wore Lately! Although it’s getting to be that time of year when it probably makes sense to go back to posting these every other week. If you think my fall-winter outfits are repetitive, just wait till we get to the dog days of summer.

Anyway, let’s dive right in.

SIZING NOTES: Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, and size 8 shoe.

What I Wore Lately

Last Wednesday, I took my daughter to get some lab work done. It was the first time she had ever had blood drawn, and she was nervous, but she did great.

It was a pretty day, but not terribly warm that morning, so I pulled out my cashmere hoodie. I like how the light neutrals in this outfit give a nod to spring, but the cozy cashmere sweater kept me comfortable until it warmed up enough to ditch it.

This hoodie is a great price for cashmere, and I like the sporty vibe. I have my usual size small, but if you have long arms, you might want to size up for additional sleeve length.

I went straight from my workout to the dentist for a filling on Thursday, but when I got home, I showered off and put on this simple black and denim outfit for the rest of the day.

These sandals are a great price, and I think they’re really cute, but definitely size up half; they run small and narrow. Conversely, you will probably want to size down in these jeans. I’m wearing the 4, which is unusual for me, but I often need to size down in this brand.

Friday was a busy day! I had a photo shoot for DSW in the morning (that post goes live tomorrow!) Then Paul and I went down to visit his mom for the day. When we got back, Alison came over to shoot C’s graduation photos, and after that, we went over to our old neighborhood to visit with friends for the evening.

I didn’t even think to take a picture of my outfit, so I recreated it on Sunday afternoon after church. I don’t think I wore these earrings on Friday (I probably wore the Lagos studs) but everything else is the same.

This cheetah print jacket came from Trunk Club last spring, and I got it for a really great price. It was right after the pandemic hit, when all the stores were practically giving stuff away. I thought it had sold out, but it looks like it has been restocked on the Rails website!

Of course, it’s full price now, and I wouldn’t recommend paying that much for this jacket, even though it’s a nice one. I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if it goes on sale again.

That brings us to Saturday. R wanted me to take her and a friend to Target, so I decided it was as good a reason as any to put together a cute spring outfit. I first grabbed the grey tee, and I started to reach for a pair of bluejeans, but I decided I was tired of wearing bluejeans so I pulled out my white Mother Insiders instead.

Of course, I still managed to wear bluejeans… in the form of a blue jean jacket. I do love my denim!

I think next time I’ll try this outfit with my yellow denim jacket. That never occurred to me at the time, but I think it would be really cute with the white jeans and grey tee. Oh, and hey! It’s on sale at Zappos, but there are only a few sizes left. You can find more sizes here.

I wore this floral blouse with dark wash blue jeans to church on Sunday. The blouse sold out weeks ago, but here’s the same one in a different print.

Someone recently asked which jeans I like better — the AG Prima cigarette ankle jeans (seen here) or the AGOLDE Toni straight ankle jeans I’ve been wearing a lot lately. I prefer the Toni because they’re a couple inches shorter (which is really more of a crop than an ankle length) and almost an inch higher in the rise, but I’ve held onto this pair of Primas because I like the dark wash. Sometimes they come in handy!

After church, I changed into a t-shirt and bluejeans to host friends on the deck. It was supposed to be our first official pool party of the season, but it was rather overcast. The kids still got in, though, so I guess it counts.

Monday was a long WFH (work from home) day. I didn’t go anywhere except to an early morning workout. After that, I showered off and threw on jean shorts and a tank top so I could sit outside and get some sun when I had a break.

I like these higher neck tanks because my chest always burns, and I have a lot of sun damage from it. I like the extra protection because I don’t always remember to sunscreen my chest.

Yesterday was another WFH day, and I also had to run out to vote in our local elections. It was hotter than Monday, and I put on shorts again with the intent of sitting outside for a while, but that never happened.

And that’s it for this week. The next couple of weeks will likely be a lot more of the same casual looks, as there isn’t much on our calendar at the moment. I will probably start doing these posts every other week for a while.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a post about summer sandals, and I’ve got a try-on haul in the works for Friday, so stay tuned for that!

  1. How would you compare the 7FAMK jeans you are wearing to the Agolde ones? I have admired both from your posts, and am flipping back and forth about whether to pull the trigger on one or the other. I currently have a pair of light wash 7FAMK that I love, but they are 99% cotton, so may be very different. I have never worn agolde, but always love them when I see them in your posts. They are also a tad cheaper, which of course appeals to me… 🙂

    1. They fit a little differently — 7FAM is a boyfriend fit, and the AGOLDE are a crop straight. I feel like the AGOLDE are more flattering on me personally, but I do wish they had a slightly higher rise.

      1. Difference between a boyfriend vs. crop straight? Is boyfriend baggier in the hips and thighs? Is it tapered at all? Agolde looks like a relaxed skinny in your pictures…slimmer than a true straight. They both look flattering to me (and I admit I am less of a fan of true straight jeans on you relative to skinnies or slimmer cuts), but I recognize I am only seeing the pictures you choose to show.

  2. Are you wearing a small in the Michael Stars boatneck tank? I’m trying to decide between an XS and a S…

I’m still obsessed with the AGOLDE parker shorts. I have a feeling that I will be wearing them 5 days a week this summer down the shore…

  3. Love the look of the Agolde Toni, saw your previous reply and the website called them mid-rise but are they TTS? I can still wear the mid rise in some jeans. thank you, Nancy

  4. I like what you wore over the past week. It’s very obvious that you are spending time in the sun. At the end of the summer, except for my lower arms, I will be just as fair as I am right now. I HATE putting on sun screen, so I am not good about applying it, even though I know that I should. I hope you have had a good day!

  5. Always so on point Jolynne! I just love your style. I feel like you addressed this recently so I apologize for any repetition- what self tanner are you currently loving for your arms and legs? (P.S. I bought the St. Tropez face mist based on your recommendation, can’t wait till it arrives!)

  6. Your makeup is looking amazing. I love the lip color you’re wearing right now. Is it by chance the one you shared in your post last week?

      1. Hi. After reading today’s comments, 05-21-21, I thought I’d check back to see if you replied to my comment about the lipstick. Sure enough you did and I did not get a notification. Yep, time to fix that bug again. Sorry.
Thanks for the link for the lipstick. It’s time for me get try something new.

  7. This is random, but the way your hair falls in one of the pics made me think you had cut side swept bangs. It’s a cute look on you!

  8. Well shoot. That cheetah jacket is darling and my daughter is looking for a cute jacket, but that one is way out of her budget. LOL XOXO
