What I Wore Lately Vol. 65

Greetings, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately. This is when I round up my daily outfits from the past couple weeks and tell you a little about where I wore them and how they came together.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ with an hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe. Links are under each picture, and c/o indicates a gifted item.

What I Wore Lately

These looks go back about two weeks. As I recall, I was doing a try-on haul, and I loved this sweatshirt so much, I kept it on for the rest of the day. It has such an easy shape to it, and I really like the details. Even though it’s plain and kind of a drab color, it just seems to check all the boxes. It’s perfect for my casual lifestyle these days.

Also, these AGOLE Toni jeans are on sale right now at Evereve. The wash is slightly different than mine, but it looks awfully close.

I don’t recall where I went or what I did the day I wore this, but I was probably at home most of the day since there’s nothing on my calendar. I just wanted to be cool and comfortable, since we were having a warm spell.

Splendid t-shirt (M) // Paige Mayslie joggers (27; also at Shopbop) // TB Millers // Lagos earrings and ring // Yurman bracelet

The next day, I had an eye doctor appointment, and I knew I’d be trying on different contact lenses so I went without makeup. I could have just thrown on joggers and sneakers, but I dressed in street clothes in an attempt to feel somewhat normal.

Paul and I had plans to go out to dinner that night, so of course I had to try on my entire closet before deciding what to wear. It was really warm out, like pretty much summer weather, so that ruled out a lot of my new fall clothes.

I thought I might wear this leopard print tank with my black Mother Insiders.

Halogen tank (S) // Mother Insiders (28) // Jeffrey Campbell slides (8)

I tried them with a blazer on top, but it felt too corporate, even with jeans and the quilted slides. Or maybe just too much black.

So then I tried my coated denim jacket… this was probably fine, but I guess I wasn’t feeling it.

Next, I tried a black faux suede moto, but it was too heavy for this look and also too warm for the weather we were having.

Then I decided to drop back and punt, as my mom likes to say. I tried black skinny pants with one of my favorite blouses. I actually love this look, but I guess it felt too dressy? Or maybe just too much like work wear.  Or maybe I just wanted to try the next blouse and I forgot to come back to this.

BR dolman top (S) // Vince crop leggings (M; size up) // Jeffrey Campbell Mr. Big Slide (8)

This blouse and these pants are both new to my closet, and I had been meaning to try them on for a few days. I still haven’t decided yet if I’m keeping the pants because they’re quite an investment, but I’ve heard so many good things about them, and I can see why people love them. If I dressed up more, I would definitely keep them, but I ended up switching back to my comfort zone for the evening — my black Mother Insiders.

Allison Joy blouse (S) // Vince crop leggings (M; size up) // Jeffrey Campbell Mr. Big Slide (8)

When I first tried this blouse, I thought I had to return it because it’s so low-cut on me, but I came back to it because I really like it. It’s exactly what I need for this warm fall we’re having. It’s lightweight, but the colors give a nod to the season. The 3/4 sleeves are the perfect compromise so it doesn’t feel too summery or too heavy.

I realized that if I could keep it set back on my shoulders a bit, it wouldn’t be too risqué — at least, not for dinner with my husband. I won’t wear it to church without a cami or something underneath.

So, anyway! I placed a piece of my favorite fashion tape on each side, just inside the neckline of the blouse, right under my collar bones. It held it in place without skewing the shape of the V-neck, and I was comfortable all night. YAY for fashion tape!

Then I added silver hoop earrings, a pendant necklace, and a Victoria Emerson bracelet. This is what I ended up wearing.

Okay, whew! Does anyone else feel like they just ran a marathon? The next day was Saturday, and we went over to a friend’s house to hang out on the patio that evening. I don’t remember what else I did that day, but I think it involved blog work and maybe a few errands to get ready for R’s birthday party.

Anyway, this is what I wore over to visit with friends. It was our first chilly evening, and I brought this sherpa jacket along, but I didn’t get a picture of it. I did end up wearing it and got a lot of compliments on it.

Okay! That brings us to Sunday, and it was still chilly. I was excited to grab one of my favorite cashmere sweaters from last year. I’ve had all my fall/winter sweaters stacked neatly in my closet for several weeks, now, waiting for more seasonal temperatures to arrive.

This cashmere boatneck is from Naadam, and happily, it’s still available this season! It’s also 25% off with code: FRIENDS25. It runs true to size, and it’s made of the most super soft luxe cashmere. I love the extended ribbed cuffs and 23″ almost-cropped length.

I first tried it with the chain link mules (above) but then I switched to the Franco Sarto mules with the asymmetrical vamp. They seemed a little more feminine and in keeping with the vibe of the sweater.

That evening was R’s birthday party. We had it on a Sunday because it was her actual birthday, for one thing, but also because she had band commitments on Friday and Saturday nights. Plus, there was no school on Monday, so that gave her a day to recover from her crazy busy weekend.

I wasn’t quite sure what to wear. A roller skating rink is pretty casual, but I still wanted to look somewhat nice. As it turned out, I didn’t see any of the parents except the one friend of mine who stayed to hang out with me, so it really didn’t matter. This is the first outfit I tried, but R hates the clogs.

I don’t usually let my kids dictate what I wear, but it was her party, and I was kind of unsure, so I changed into my Vejas. I also changed earrings from the hoops I had on from the morning to a more casual silver ball stud.

FYI, this hoodie is soooo soft and comfortable. Highly recommend if you need some elevated casual wear.

I don’t have any pictures from Monday, I think I was in recovery mode and didn’t feel like I was photo-worthy.

On Tuesday, I met a friend for lunch, and we were going to be eating outside. It was kind of grey and misty and chilly, so I wore this cute olive green flight jacket. It’s double layered, which makes it warmer than it may appear.

I tried it with two different tops, first the Ann Taylor mixed jersey tank. I’ve had this for several years, and it makes a really nice base layer when you want something dressier than a tee.

Here’s a close-up of the wrap bracelet.

I ended up switching to this Halogen raw edge tank and a different necklace, but I think I might prefer the Ann Taylor one. I do  like this chunky pendant better, though. It gives the look more of a focal point. And I am wearing the bracelet, it just gets hidden under the jacket.

Okay, so! the next day was Wednesday, and I worked at home all day so I wore this comfy outfit.

Caslon tee (S) // Vuori joggers (M) // Athleta wrap (S) // Birks (39) // Lagos earrings

I was up and out early last Thursday to pick up C at the airport. I didn’t have time for makeup, and I was fighting a cold or allergy attach or something. I felt and looked awful, but I did pull on real clothes for some reason.

I woke up feeling a lot better on Friday, and the weather had turned really warm. I remember going to the nail salon that day, but I don’t know what else I did. Must have been something that warranted jewelry beyond my usual studs and diamond pendant. I used the fashion tape trick again on this poncho because it also has a way of falling too low in the front. It worked beautifully!

That night was the homecoming football game at the high school, and it was White Out night, so I changed into a white sweatshirt. Sorry for the creepy smile, lol! I was taking a picture really fast because we were running late. Poor Paul even got caught there in the background… lol!

I’ve had this sweatshirt for years, and I’m always amazed that it’s still in stock. It’s kind of a ridiculous splurge for something so plain, but it’s so cozy and I love the nubby texture and extra long sleeves.

Also, Bloomies is running a spend more, save more sale where you can save up to 30% off with code SAVEMORE. This doesn’t qualify by itself, but if you are doing more shopping there, you can throw this in to help get you over the threshold!

The next day was Saturday, and it was actually hot outside. It reached the low 80s by mid-afternoon. I threw on this favorite tank and Mother Insiders to take R to the mall to finalize her homecoming dance outfit. These sandals are on sale, plus they’re included in the Bloomies spend more, save more promo.

A rain storm on Saturday night brought in a cold front, and it was actually quite chilly on Sunday. I got dressed for church in a cashmere sweater and jeans, and then I had to take C straight to the airport afterwards. We didn’t actually make it to the service… oops! But it was good to spend a little extra time with her.

When I got home, I changed into this cozy outfit. I absolutely love these slipper socks, by the way. I’ve been wearing them almost every day since I got them. They would make a great holiday gift, just sayin’.

Lou & Grey signature softblend sweatshirt & sweatpants (S) // Falke slipper socks (M)

I met a friend for lunch on Monday, and it was still blustery and cold outside, so I took the opportunity to wear my new plaid wool blend coat.

BB Dakota plaid coat (S) // Treasure & Bond v-neck sweater (S) // Mother Hustler ankle fray jeans (28; also at Shopbop) // Dolce Vita mules (7.5; also at Evereve) // Kendra Scott split hoop earrings // coin layer necklace

This coat is such a pretty color palette, and I love the slender fit. I struggle with coats like this being too bulky, and I don’t like big lapels or belts or double breasted styles because they just add bulk where I don’t need it. This one has such a nice, streamlined fit. I’m wearing my usual size small.

And here’s the outfit underneath.

I had a workout on Tuesday, and I went for a long walk in the neighborhood when I got back. It was chilly out, and my new Vuori sherpa jacket was the perfect topper. I ended up staying in this outfit for the rest of the day to work from home.

And I didn’t get a picture of yesterday’s outfit, although it is one I photographed with Alison, so I can include the professional shots in my next What I Wore Lately. Meanwhile, I’m off to a workout!

  1. I can vouch for the Wildfox sweatshirt. I bought it last spring, when it was too late to wear it. Can’t wait to wear it this year, it is so soft and comfy. I will put in a word for the Paige Mayslie green utility joggers again. Love them, and worth the price, because you will want to wear them all the time!

  2. hi. is there a reason why you always have your phone in the pictures. most of the time your blocking your face. i think you would get better pictures if you didn’t have your phone at your face. you’re a fashion blogger & not a phone seller. think about this, it might make it better for everyone seeing your content.
    thank you.

    1. She is using her phone to take the pictures. She’s not going to go grab her husband or kid every time she wants to shoot an outfit she wore. She is showing us her outfits not her face.

  3. Really enjoyed this post. I’m so glad I’m not the only one trying to figure out what to wear to church. I think it makes it harder when our church is a small town, small church and very casual. I’d like to dress up more but then feel silly if I do too much, but then just jeans sometimes feels too casual. I need to get the black spanx pant I have per your recommendation but haven’t worn yet.

    1. That is exactly how I feel. 🙂 I grew up dressing for church, and I miss that. I know church is not about that, necessarily, but still… it seems appropriate. But these are different times!

  4. I can’t seem to get fashion tape to stay put. Is there a secret? Also, the Naadam cashmere sweater looks so big on the website. Is that an inaccurate photo?
    Thanks!

    1. Their photo makes no sense to me at all. It looks accurate in my pictures.

And as far as fashion tape goes, I’ve tried several, and the best for staying put is the one I linked. It’s a lot thinner and seems to be stickier too.

  5. Seeing the evolution of some of your outfits is so beneficial, so “thank you!” I am going to have to order some of the fashion tape for the poncho top, since it doesn’t stay put, but I love wearing it. The style of the elevated sweatshirt is perfect!

  6. Hello! Could you post where you bought your cute single diamond necklace? I didn’t see a link to it! Thank you! Terri
