What to Wear: Dinner Out On Vacay

If you have vacation plans coming up or a dressy-casual spring event like a graduation party or class reunion, this outfit would be perfect for that. I wore a slightly different version of this out to dinner in Florida last month.

Michael Stars jumpsuit (S) // Sam Edelman sandals (8) // Coach Tabby 26 // Stella & Ruby necklace (also at Verishop) // rattan earrings // Stella & Dot bracelet // YSL sunnies (similar for less)

This jumpsuit is from Evereve, and it’s very comfortable. The fabric is buttery soft, and it has a good deal of stretch to it.

You don’t have to deal with zippers or fasteners of any kind, and while going to the bathroom is mildly inconvenient, it’s no big deal to pull it down and back up again.

I appreciate that it’s bra-friendly, and the v-neck is flattering without being too revealing. It has a tie waist, and the wide-legged silhouette is flowy without being too voluminous.

I also love how versatile it is. It would be cute with flat sandals and a denim jacket, but I dressed it up with gold strappy sandals and a statement necklace.

This jumpsuit runs true to size; I’m wearing the small.

The textured chain necklace is by Stella & Ruby. I found it at Nordstrom, but it’s also at Verishop. Both offer free shipping and free returns. I love how this necklace packs a punch without overwhelming the outfit.

These oversized rattan earrings are lightweight and very affordable. I like how the gold disks tie into the gold necklace and gold shoes, but the rattan adds texture and a natural element to the outfit.

The gold strappy sandals and ivory bag with gold hardware keep the look light for summer.

I also think a straw clutch would be really cute with this outfit. I actually ordered this one in the khaki and planned to carry with this look, but it didn’t arrive in time.

Oversized sunglasses complete this versatile spring/summer special occasion outfit.

Also, I often get questions about undergarments. I’m wearing the Wacoal Body Base Shorty in these pictures. They don’t have a lot of compression, but they keep everything smoothed out.

This post is very picture-heavy, but I love how these turned out and I had such a hard time paring them down! We were at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, and the fountain out front was the perfect backdrop for this spring/summer event look.

  1. SO impressed with Evereve. They’ve curated so many great options and the quality is awesome. I’d shop them a lot more if the shipping was free or if I had a store even remotely near me.

  2. I absolutely love the lighting in these pictures, and some of the other ones you’ve shown. I believe you said it was early morning. Wow, you look beautiful. Your makeup and hair look fantastic. I love all the pieces here, but at only 5’1”, I couldn’t wear the jumpsuit. I look forward to seeing all of your Spring outfits!

  3. Beautiful pictures, the lighting is lovely. I know you’ve had some issues but I’ve got to say you’ve got beautiful teeth🤩

  4. So I love the jumpsuit but am an inverted triangle. My top is 2-3 sizes larger than my bottom depending on material. How loose is the top? I am never sure how to fit them when I have a size 12 top and size 6 bottoms🤔

  5. Love this post, great pics!⛲ I bought the jumpsuit. Love it. It’s a little long, Im having it altered for flat sandals. Im 5’5, 135 and pear shaped, size small is perfect. The wide legs make it flattering. Also ordered the undershorts, brilliant! I travel to Paris in July and this will be perfect! Thank you!💜

  6. That really is a chic, “high fashion” bold look! I’ve often used a black onepiece bathing suit (as a supportive bodysuit) with a white blazer and linen (white) palazzo pants over it for attending semi-formal outdoorsy/summer dinner events.

  7. Love your photos in Florida! The lighting is gorgeous; your photographer is so talented! Love the jumpsuit and accessories. Wish I was in Florida too! One day……..

  8. Jo-Lynne,
The jumpsuit is beautiful on you! You look amazing! And these photos should be in a magazine! Love that you are sharing your travels!

  9. I have a very similar black jumpsuit in my wardrobe. I’ve worn it to multiple events! It’s a great alternative to a little black dress. I’ve worn it dressed up, and worn it more casually. I love how you’ve styled yours here. It truly is a classic!

  10. This looks great on you! We are going to Florida’s gulf coast in a month so it’s fun looking at your pics in Florida. I had a black jumpsuit from loft a few years ago. Not crazy about it on me. It looks good on someone curvier.

  11. Love the photos! The jumpsuit looks super comfortable.. I wish Evereve shipped internationally as I have seen so many great pieces from them!

  12. This is going to sound a little weird, but I’d love to see a backside picture since you shared the shapewear that you wore underneath it. I bought this same jumpsuit but can’t find the right undies to wear with it. It’s a little clingy so I’m leaning towards my hanky panky thong panties (no visible panty lines,) but they offer zero support so now I feel like I need to get my backside firmed up before I wear it. 😬🤣 Just wondering how those shape wear shorts work.

    1. I usually wear the hanky panky thong but I definitely need more coverage with this jumpsuit. Not only because I have cellulite but the lace on the underwear creates some texture under the jumpsuit fabric.

      1. Yes, 100%! (The lace problem). I tried to follow your link to the shapewear but they were all sold out. I’ll try Nordstrom I guess. Thank you! Pretty photos!

    2. I’d recommend something like I found back in 2017: the micro fiber Assets by Spanx (at Target) body briefer with full coverage seat and laser cut legs (around $38). It was my first “toe-dip” into trying a Spanx-related undergarment (after the usual caution of hearing all about how they were “torture devices”, lol, and super expensive etc.); however, I now have backups because: it has become my absolute. go-to. shapewear. without fail.

There are NO LINES AT ALL from the full-coverage back even while wearing it with workout clothing. I’m not embarrassed to admit, yes, I do wear shapewear with workout clothes (my weight happens to be focused around my “saddlebags”/upper thigh area due to being pear-framed) and, this particular option totally leaves no muffintop to cause the waistbands of leggings to roll!

  13. Are the earrings heavy? I have been searching for a pair like this, but the ones I have looked at are a little heavy.
