On Thanksgiving, dressing for comfort is a high priority. Let’s face it, I’m probably going to be eating a little bit too much. Plus, Thanksgiving tends to be a long day, so comfort is of utmost importance. But of course I want to look festive and cute. Which begs the question, how do I know what to wear for Thanksgiving!?!
Let’s discuss.
What To Wear for Thanksgiving
NOTE: As of 11/22/16, this post is updated with current shopping links. You’re welcome!!
If you’re doing the hosting, you may want to start out the day in comfy yoga pants and change right before your guests arrive. If you ARE the guest, of course you can go in your outfit of choice, but consider bringing along a pair of flats or slippers in case the day tends to drag on.
Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
I like to keep it casual on Thanksgiving Day. Think sweater, jeans, boots and a few killer accessories. I love the details on this beaded cable sweater, and of course, you KNOW I will be wearing my favorite skinny jeans and riding boots.
A pair of statement earrings makes the look special enough for a festive occasion, and I am drooling over this R Minkoff MAC Convertible Crossbody in port.

Cozy Thanksgiving Outfit
If you REALLY want to be comfy, and you’re attending a casual event, go for leggings and a tunic or poncho. Hey, you’ve gotta have plenty of room for that second piece of pumpkin pie!! The UGG Classic Cardy is basically a glorified slipper. SO cozy. Then all you need is one fab accessory, such as this light-catching lattice necklace, to elevate this comfy outfit to holiday chic!

Dressier Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas
Take it up a notch and wear dark skinny jeans with a cute top and a pair of great heeled pumps or heeled boots. This is the perfect occasion for coated skinny jeans. They look like leather, but they’re much more comfortable and practical.

I hope this post gives you some ideas for styling an outfit from your closet to wear to your Thanksgiving gathering in a few weeks. It will be here before you know it!!!
Just remember to dress lightly or wear layers. Holiday gatherings to be warm, what with the oven on all day and all those people in one place. So it’s best not to dress too warmly, no matter how cold it is outside.
And make sure to bring along your cozy slippers for when dinner is over and you just want to relax and be comfy.

We are very casual so it’s fun to see the jeans ideas for Thanksgiving. 🙂
Love this series! And all of these looks. It’s a great idea to remind us to shop our closets – I’m sure my husband would agree that I don’t need any clothes – but new outfit ideas using those clothes are so helpful!
Happy to find your fab blog through the lovely Miss Marta!

That’s awesome! Thank you, Miss Marta! LOL
Love these looks, so cozy and comfy. I hate dressing up for holidays….I’d much rather wear comfy clothes…stylishly of course! 🙂
So fun to see the clothes board and then you actually wearing the outfit! You look gorgeous in all but especially the second photo. I’m more the type to opt for comfort with a fully, happy belly. 🙂

I tend to dress toward the “Classy Outfit” since I host Thanksgiving. Of course I’m in yoga pants most of the day.mbut dress appropriate before my (25 in all this year) guests arrive.
I do love that classy outfit. I go back and forth between that and the comfy one. Our family is pretty casual but it’s fun to throw on a pair of heels for the holiday.
Wow awesome outfit ideas – thanks for sharing!!! Come check out my latest feature review on Boden’s brand new active/yoga wear this week at the blog & let me know what you think – there’s a 20% off too till Nov. 15!

I DEFINITELY need to check that out!
Love all these looks! Just wanted to mention on the sweaters, I try to always wear a cute top underneath, too. Seems like with all the cooking, the house gets overheated & if you’re not in layers you roast. Plus there always dishes to wash later etc. You definitely don’t want to be over-full & overheated!
Yes, definitely! I mentioned that at the bottom, too. I feel like I’m always roasting on Thanksgiving.
I love seeing the style board and how you interpreted the outfit! We are pretty casual on Thanksgiving so the cozy look is perfect! Those cocktail napkins are so fun! Thanks for hosting the linkup and the giveaway!

Sooo many great outfits to pick from. I love them all, but would probably pick the navy blue sweater as my favorite one to wear Thanksgiving day!!
Love the snakeskin tote! I own it and carry it year round. Great must-have handbag.
Seriously love all your outfit ideas! The cozy one looks like something I could live in. Love the Kate Spade bag! Have a great weekend! ~Cynthia
thanks, Cynthia. You too!
I was wondering what the color of lipstick was pictured with the cable knit sweather? It is pinkish or peach?
Thanks!
Oh and I love all the looks!!
