Winter Menswear Outfit with Ecco Shoes

Hey guys, it’s another two-fer today! I’ve got a menswear look featuring these super comfortable ECCO Derby style dress shoes.

This guy has been making more than his fair share of guest appearances on the blog this month. Too bad he has a day job, or we could make this a family fashion site.

The ECCO brand is known for their comfort and quality, and these shoes did not disappoint. We both liked the subtle distressed effect and the minimalistic styling. They added some nice touches to keep them modern like open edge details, hand stitching, and a stacked heel.

While they look great, they have some nice comfort features as well. The removable ECCO Comfort Fibre System with leather-covered inlay soles can be removed if he needs more width, and a partial leather lining adds to the quality feel.

These shoes come in four colors, and this is the dark clay. It’s a nice versatile shade of taupe that works well with the cool tones in this outfit, but will go fine with warmer colors as well.

For size reference, Paul had to size down two sizes these shoes. He normally wears an American size 11.5 which equals a European size 45, according to the size chart. They reportedly run big, so the ECCO team sent the 44, but we had to swap them out for the 43, and they’re perfect. So definitely take that into consideration if you place an order.

This outfit is typical of what Paul likes to wear to work and church this time of year. It was all of 20 degrees the day we shot this look so he was layered up with a gingham dress shirt, wool sweater, wool coat, and cashmere scarf. (He was wishing he’d brought his gloves!)

This coat has been good to him; I believe it was a Christmas gift from my mom a few years back. I like the modern styling, and he likes the warmth and comfort. This one is similar, and they have a big & tall version as well. If you’re looking for a last minute gift idea for a guy in your life, I would recommend considering it.

Speaking of last minute gift ideas for guys, I bought this scarf for Paul as a gift a few years ago, and he wears it ALL the time in the winter. He wears it for the warmth, but I like it because I think it makes him look debonair. Nordstrom has a nice selection of cashmere scarves for men under $100 right now.

And finally, my last plug for men’s gift ideas — these Maui Jim sunnies were his Christmas gift last year, and he loves them. He wears them all the time. Okay, I know I keep saying that, but these are some of his favorite and most worn wardrobe items. These are the Stingray in matte black with blue lenses, which seem to be discontinued, but Macy’s has the gloss black with bronze and SmartBuyGlasses has the gloss black with grey.

ECCO Kenton plain toe tie shoes c/o // Michael Kors Wool Blend Field Coat // similar grey vee (Paul’s is from J.Crew) // similar gingham dress shirt // similar cashmere scarf // 7 For All Mankind standard straight fit jeans // similar Maui Jim Stingray polarized sunnies

So are you guys ready for Christmas!?! I think I’m almost there. I still want to make some peanut butter fudge to give to friends and hopefully enough to take some with me to Virginia, and I have a few more stocking stuffers to pick up, and I should be good!

I can’t believe we’re wrapping up 25 Days of Winter Fashion tomorrow. I need to start thinking about post topics to finish out the week! If y’all have any suggestions or requests, I’d love to hear them.

  1. Well, he’s looking sharp! My husband discovered Ecco shoes at Nordstrom Rack….and he’s never going back..to anything else! He is on his feet all day and he knows his shoes. I keep meaning to try some of the women’s on to see if I get the same results. Quality shoes.
