You probably figured it was about time for the leopard flats to make another appearance! Today is Day 10 of 26 Days of Fall Fashion, and this is another casual outfit that you can probably easily put together from items in your closet. I suppose this is a bit of a fall outfit formula for me — denim jacket, short-sleeved tee, jeans or pants, and cute flats or ankle boots.
Someone recently asked me how I typically build an outfit, and what piece I like start with and style around.
I’d say it varies. Sometimes I do want to wear a certain pair of shoes or a certain top, and I build an outfit around that, but more often than not, it is a combination of two items that strike my fancy, and I’m inspired to build an outfit around that combination. In this case, it was the navy-and-white striped vintage tee and the olive green cargo skinnies. I love this combo, so that’s what inspired this outfit.
I actually posted this outfit a few weeks ago as a summer outfit — but with gold espadrilles and without the jean jacket.
To carry it over into fall, I added the jean jacket and switched out the espadrilles for my leopard flats.
This jean jacket is a bit cropped, and it’s fitted through the waist. I wish I could give you a link, but it’s about 5 years old. This one at White House Black Market is similar, but it doesn’t have the zip-front. I haven’t seen one of those recently. Cuffing the sleeves so they’re 3/4-length is far more flattering than wearing them long, so unless it’s terribly cold outside and I need the warmth, I leave them like this.
The crossbody in port is such a fabulous bag for fall. I just love this color, and I like that it has silver hardware rather than the gold which is so popular right now. I like having some of each.
Add a few gold accessories, and I’m good to go! I usually add my accessories last — unless I’m styling an outfit around a particular piece. In this case, the outfit is fairly casual so I didn’t want to bling it up too much. I just added large gold hoops, my engraved gold disk pendant, and a few my Alex & Ani wire bangles. And my FitBit bracelet, of course. Gotta get those 10,000 steps in!!

Really cute! You look amazing in those glasses.
Aw, thanks!
Good morning! I’ve been following your blog for a while now and I must say I love how you demonstrate how to continually work with existing items in our closets. While it would be fun to buy all new clothes and never wear the same thing twice, it’s just not practical for most of us. ???????? I greatly appreciate the details and the pictures demonstrating the various ways/seasons that clothing can be worn. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into the blog!
On a side note, while I like the casual/jeans look, working in an office where business casual is the required dress code, I would like some new/different ideas in that area. Do you have any blogger friends who concentrate more in that area?
Hi Keena, thanks for the kind words. And yes, I realize my looks are a lot alike. 🙂 Let me think on that… of course Cyndi puts some great looks together, and she has a bit of a dressier style than I do, I think. Alison at Get Your Pretty On does some more professional looks sometimes. http://getyourprettyon.com
I’ll keep that in mind and let you know if I think of anyone else. And I will think about incorporating some dressier looks into my outfits too!
I really love some of the business casual outfits on Instagram from https://instagram.com/lcavender913/
Thanks! I’ll check it out! ????
I really like the denim jacket with the zipper! I got my leopard flats out the other day. 🙂

Those shoes, I so need them!!
I think leopard flats are perfect for fall (although, I wear them year round!) Thanks for the link up today. xx, Conni
Great minds…wearing something similar today. Out the door to sub. But wanted to say hi. You look casually chic. Can’t wait to wear my denim jacket again. Have a blessed weekend. XO
Never underestimate the power of a good jean jacket! I’d love to add one with a zipper to mine rotation 🙂 My favorite one is about five years old too!
Didn’t get your post today. Had to pull it up by going to your website. Anyone else have problem?
Yes, I was having technical difficulties. 🙂 It will probably come tomorrow with tomorrow’s post. Sorry about that!! 🙂
Cute outfit! I found inexpensive animal print shoes at 6pm.com. They are Mia Harry Leopard Flats, for 27 dollars. They look comfortable and cute. I think I will try them.
Love how you paired the leopard print flats and the striped top. I, too, am all about the denim jacket and booties for fall. Was fun catching back up with you. I’m looking forward to following along with you on your 26 days of fall fashion!

i love this combination and have all the pieces to make it work. I adore those shoes as well! Always so stylish my friend.
The sipper on the jacket is a nice, not often seen detail. Love the bag and the pants too.
Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

🙂 THANKS, girl!
I’m so glad I found your blog! I love the simple but trendy outfits you put together. I have never been a fan of animal print but I’ve been eyeing those leopard print flats since day #1! I love Sam Edelman, are they comfy?
Thanks, Kasey! They ARE very comfortable. They do not have any padding/support, but they feel like I’m wearing slippers. I wore them all day yesterday. It depends on if you need support or not, though. 🙂
