Budget-Friendly Summer Shorts at Gap Factory

** This post is sponsored by Gap Factory and Collective Voice. All selections, styling, and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support this site!

Shorts season is upon us, and as we get older, it can be a challenge to find stylish shorts that are flattering and comfortable and not frumpy. Plus, most ladies don’t like to spend a lot on their shorts, which really makes shopping for the perfect shorts like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Thankfully, Gap Factory has a lot of options to choose from, and their prices are fantastic. Shop now during their Spring Cyber Event to receive 60% off and free shipping on all orders! (Some exclusions apply.)

5″ Mid Rise Downtown Khaki Shorts (29) // Floral Eyelet T-Shirt (S)

These 5″ Mid Rise Downtown Khaki Shorts are a classic chino short with a versatile 5″ inseam. They come in a variety of colors; and they carry a wide range of regular, petite, and tall sizes.

I styled mine two ways — first, with a black eyelet tee. Eyelet and lace details are on trend this spring, and this one has a classic t-shirt silhouette to keep it from looking too sweet. It also comes in white; and it runs true to size, or size up if in between. I’m wearing the medium here.

I love this Pebble Pink for an alternative to my usual navy, black, or white shorts. They pair well with neutrals like black, white, and grey; or you can always wear a contrasting color.

I also styled these shorts with a white tank and linen blend button-up shirt worn open over top. I love this easy, breezy look for spring and summer.

This button-up is 55% linen, 45% Cotton, and it has a classic fit with a shirttail hem and front patch pocket. I’m wearing the small in this shirt, which fits fine through the body and shoulders, but I’d need the medium if I wanted to button it.

If you need jean shorts, I really like these 5″ Mid Rise Denim Shorts in the light wash. I cuffed them, so they’re more like a 4″ length, which is what I prefer. The fabric is 93% Cotton, 5% Recycled Cotton, 2% Elastane.

This light wash is such a great casual summer look, and it’s highly versatile. I wore them with the black eyelet top here, but they also look great with light neutrals like white and oatmeal, as well as bright colors and pastels. These shorts fit true to size; I’m wearing the 29. (They come in sizes 24 — 34.)

These shorts also come in a nice dark wash, which looks great with dark and bold colors, like this ribbed tank in purple basil.

And if you like pull-on shorts, these 4″ Mid Rise Easy Linen-Blend Pull-On Shorts come in a bunch of colors and a wide range of sizes, from XS — XXL. I paired them with a Ribbed High Neck Tank, for a casual everyday look that keeps you cool and comfortable whether you’re running errands, traveling, or hanging out at home this spring and summer.

  1. Thanks for these recommendations and I’m excited for summer clothes! Is the eyelet shirt see-through? Does it require a tank or cami underneath? Thanks!

  2. Thank you, Jo-Lynne! I’ve been looking for darker wash jean shorts. Can you please tell me the width of the leg opening when cuffed, as you have them in the photos? And do you find that they run true to size?

  3. I was just looking at the light wash shorts to try. I don’t have that light in a shirt so would be nice for a change.

  4. PS before I order could you tell me what size the leg opening is on the light wash rolled denim shorts. Reviews say big but I know you have slender legs and they don’t look wide and they look good on you. Thanks

  5. I just ordered the pink shorts and the black shirt. $25 for that outfit is a steal! Since I got my soft cast removed and stitches out this morning, I’m feeling much more like myself and ready to start tackling getting out of the house, so a cute new outfit is in order! Even if I will be lugging The Boot and crutches around for a while, lol.
