Floral & Black for Spring
I’m not much of a florals girl, but when I knew I’d be taking outfit pictures in Florida, I wanted to showcase some looks that are summery and fun. I think it’s safe to say this top fits the bill!
The day before I was leaving on my trip, I realized I didn’t have what I wanted for the shoot, so I ran into White House Black Market between appointments. I told the sales associate that I had 5 minutes to shop, and I needed some fun date night tops for a Florida vacation.
We whipped through the store, and I spent all of 60 seconds in the dressing room pulling things off and on. I left with two off-the-shoulder floral tops and a striped maxi dress, and I even made it to my next appointment on time. Those are some serious ninja shopping skills, if I do say so myself.
What I didn’t take into account when putting this outfit together is how hot black jeans would be in the Florida heat. Let’s just say my deodorant was working overtime that day.
These jeans are 30% off right now, which is a great deal for AG. I wear these all the time, and they never fade. They do tend to rub off on light colored handbags and furniture, though, so be aware of that.
For denim under $100, I liked the fit of the LOFT Modern Skinny jeans when I tried them, although I hear they bag out over the day so I’d advise sizing down one in those. FYI, they’re 30% off right now!
While the black jeans were heavy for Florida, this outfit will be perfectly fine here in the northeast all summer long. I don’t know how you southern ladies do it! Now I know why you say you can’t wear some of my outfits in the summertime. I suppose you could wear white or pink jeans with this, but I really like how the black “grounds the whimsical top” as they put it on the website.
This top is made of a silky material that is lightweight and comfortable, and even though it’s got a white background, it isn’t see-through at all.
It stayed in place fairly well as I moved around, although I had to shimmy it back down every once in a while to keep it where I wanted it, but that’s typical for an off-the-shoulder top.
For size reference, I’m wearing the small. Also, these tops come in petites and plus sizes. Plus, WHBM has Buy 1 Top, Get 1 50% Off promotion going on right now, and they have so many good ones. I also have this one and this one, and I’ve been crushing on this gingham off-the-shoulder number.
I always get asked about a bra when I post off-the-shoulder tops, and this strapless is by far and away my favorite of all time. It’s actually… dare I say… comfortable.
Well, as comfortable as a strapless bra gets, anyway. That’s sort of like saying pumps are comfortable. No matter how good they are, I can’t wait to rip them off at the end of the night.
This bracelet is always a nice piece to throw on with a dressier outfit. It’s feminine and delicate but large enough to stand alone.
Finally, these shoes are on sale, which practically never happens with Stuart Weitzman. They also come in black and nude patent. I love the nude color, but I have those in the stiletto version, so I went with black for this block heel pair. All of his sandals are on sale at Bloomingdale’s right now.
I absolutely love them, but they are spendy. For a more budget-friendly option, I also love this pair. For options under $100, take a look at these and these. If you need a lower heel, try these or these.
This is the type of outfit I’d wear to a spring/summer event or out for a special dinner with my husband. The jeans and sandals are closet staples that I wear again and again, and the top is just a little extra — sort of like me. Ha!
