I get a lot of requests for more work wear looks, but my lifestyle is pretty casual so I mostly live in jeans. My one exception is my black lined skinny pants. These are what I wear when I need to dress up more than jeans, but I don’t want to wear a dress or skirt.
Black pants are a great wardrobe staple because you can dress them up or down depending on your top, and you can wear them with ankle boots, flats, or pumps. This makes them the perfect base for a work outfit.
My pants are no longer available, but I also love these black Pintucked Ponte Pants from LOFT (also available in burgundy) at 40% off. And White House Black Market has these Seasonless Ankle Pants made of wool gabardine that are also a great closet staple if you work in a professional environment.
The folks at Elizabeth & Clarke recently sent me this top from their winter box to style, and my first thought when I saw it was how perfect it would be for the office! It pairs perfectly with black trousers. It is called The Cooper, and it’s a cozy grey sweater with crisp white cuffs and hem that gives the layered look without the bulk of layers.
Elizabeth & Clarke is a subscription box service that designs, develops, and manufactures their own line of basics. They only sell the collection online, thus eliminating the middleman and the need for expensive physical stores.
Customers can choose from 3 subscription offers: 1 shirt for $30, 2 shirts for $50 ($25 per shirt), or 3 shirts for $60 ($20 per shirt). Non-subscribers as well as subscribers can purchase styles in-between seasons for $40 per shirt, or if they want to save some money, they can add styles to their subscription box for the same price as their subscription plan.
In addition to this top, they sent me a black cotton top with cut-out shoulder detail and an asymmetrical vest in a gorgeous camel color. I’ll be styling those in future posts.
I was definitely impressed with their quality and style. This top is part of the winter collection, so it is on the thicker side, which is nice. It is comfortable and flattering, and as nice as it looks with black pants, it would also work well with dark blue jeans or even a light-wash jean for a more casual weekend vibe.
I accessorized with a long pendant, and I carried an orange clutch for color.
My black suede pumps are verrrry old Stuart Weitzmans, and they are incredibly comfortable for pumps. Of course, you could wear ankle boots if you wanted something more weather appropriate, but I love the outfit with pumps so I braved the cold to take these pictures.
Outfit Details: grey sweater c/o Elizabeth and Clarke | similar black pants | similar suede pumps (cheaper option) | similar tassel clutch | mixed metal pendant

I remembered to link up today!! Yay!! Love the outfit and that clutch is perfect!!
Can’t wait for our spring series. 🙂
Indeed a great polished yet cozy look – Have a lovely weekend!
A quick question about something that always keeps me from purchasing a top like this: do you end up ironing the “shirt” part?
Yep. I did iron it. But it only took a second. 🙂
I like that the sweater has the white sleeves and hem but no collar, that’s unique! Great outfit. Thanks for hosting!
love how simple and pretty this is! perfect
Love the necklace!
If I needed professional clothes, I would order that top. Thank you for braving the cold for us! I’m glad you listened to your body and took the late morning nap. That’s a lesson all of us could learn from.
It’s going to be in the 79’s here this weekend, then back to the 50’s & rain most of next week.
Have a blessed day!
I love WHBM black pants too. Black pants are definitely my go to when I don’t want to wear a dress or skirt. I recently bought a pair of black pants from AT that are called ponte leggings but they are thick and the material is much more like a pant….bonus they were marked down to $29.50 earlier this week so of course I had to order a backup pair!
I love this look! It’s cute, comfortable, and functional! So perfect for work. 🙂 Thank you for hosting this awesome link-up each week! 🙂

I love this look. I wish my office had a casual Friday so I could wear this!
Great outfit for these long days of winter! Love the pop of color of your clutch. Thanks for sharing.
Hi there! Can you tell me what brand of purse that is in your Fashion Friday picture and where I can find it? My sister loves it and I want to get it for her birthday. Thanks so much! (the snake skin purse)
Hi Lisa. It came from LeTote, which is a subscription service. I’m not sure if it can be purchased from a retailer or not, but here is the link to it on LeTote: https://letote.com/accessories/4160-red-quilted-pouch
Thanks , but I must have not explained it right. I want the purse that is in your Fashion Friday picture. You are in the cream cowl neck & jeans and have a snake print purse on your arm. What kind is it or where could I get it? 🙂
Oh, I gotcha now!! It is an old Stella & Dot. You may be able to find one on eBay.
