Ha. I crack myself up sometimes. One of my husband’s all-time favorite movies is It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. That should tell you something about his sense of humor. Slapstick humor has never been my cup of tea, but I was able to get through It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World once without falling asleep, so that’s saying something for it. We don’t exactly share the same taste in movies, so we rarely watch them together, although we both appreciate a good documentary, so there’s that.
I’m not sure what exactly drew me to this blouse, except that I’m trying to get away from the sweater kick I’ve been on this winter. I don’t typically wear blouses because I hate collars, and button-downs are not a friend to the more well-endowed, but this blouse has neither a collar nor buttons, so I decided to give it a try. I was also drawn to this gorgeous color palette and the flattering v-neckline.
I didn’t have styling plans for this top when I ordered it, so it hung on my clothing rack for a while. Eventually I decided dark jeans looked best for this time of year. When it gets closer to spring, I might try pairing it with white jeans. I tried it both front-tucked and untucked, and I liked it both ways, but I did the front-tuck for these pictures.
I picked up this blouse on one of Banana Republic’s 40% off sales. Right now they are offering 40% off, but only on orders of $200 or more. Also, I see that it’s selling out. Boo. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
I was going to wear this outfit with black pumps, but then I spotted these pink pumps in my closet and decided they were the perfect compliment to the blue tones in the top. I’m pretty proud of myself. I rarely venture out into mixing colors like this. I typically only wear my pink suede shoes with neutrals. I also have these shoes as flats in the same color, and I can see myself wearing this outfit with them as well for a more casual look.
These pumps are very comfortable; I highly recommend them. I’m wearing the pink garnet, and they are currently on sale at Amazon.com. They also come in a really pretty hot pink and a lighter sugar pink as well.
You may recognize this studded crossbody bag from my last Trunk. I didn’t keep it, but it was sitting next to this blouse on the floor of my room, and I noticed how perfectly it complimented this outfit. I couldn’t resist using it for this photo shoot before sending it back. If you’re looking for an on-trend summer bag that is a great size for everyday use, this bag is absolutely gorgeous.
I kept my jewelry simple. I layered two delicate necklaces to fill in the v-neck, and I added small triple hoop earrings. I wore silver to coordinate with the silver studded handbag.
I really like this outfit for something a little different than my usual sweater and jeans combo. For a work wear look, you could totally pair this blouse with black dress pants or dark wash bootcut jeans for casual Fridays.

I think it’s the colors, Jo-Lynne. The colors in this blouse seem really vibrant and stand out so much!!
Both my husband & I love Banana Republic—when we go in to the store, it seems like there is always a sale going on, and then with my rewards on top of it, we always get such a good deal!!
And I absolutely love that you went with the pink shoes—it’s such a gorgeous combination!!

Beautiful blouse and it looks awesome on you!
Such a great top to carry right through spring and I love how you dressed it up with these heels!
I like the blouse a lot. And the pink shoes are great!
Hi! Love this outfit on you! Love the shoes and bag and how the shirt brings them together. Did you end up ordering anything from the Kate Spade sale?
Hey Maggie. I did not. I am actually doing a partnership with Kate Spade this month, and as a part of that collaboration, they sent me an adorable pink satchel. I can’t wait to share it! So I decided to forego the sale this time. It was tough to resist, though. 😉
Beautiful top! Love the color and cut!

Love everything about this outfit on you!! Think I’m going to have to get that purse!! I like the lighter color for spring without being a pastel. and I really like the shape.

I’ll love plaid forever! And I can’t get enough of that fun pop of color your heels add to your look!
Brilliant colors on you!
You look greatI Love the pumps! As a frame of reference, how tall are you? Have you recently lost weight?
Sorry for personal questions…
Hi Kim. I’m 5’5″ and I did lose some weight last fall. I think this outfit is particularly slimming tho. 😉
This style of blouse suits you well!!! Love the colors in it as well. So cheery for a winter day.
This is a perfect early spring outfit!! I love the heels. Swoon!
Great blouse!! I love how it is plaid but not flannel. So pretty with your pink heels.

Great outfit, does the fabric give so your comfortable when sitting , I hate feeling claustrophobic in non stretch tops. LOVE those shoes! You look TINY!
I love the shoes with that top. (too bad I just don’t like wearing heels) We’re doing our Valentine’s dinner out on Sunday…to crazy to try a weeknight. Have a great weekend!!!
Beautiful blouse! I love the colors, and the fact that there are no buttons is definitely a plus for me! Hope you have a great weekend!
I love those pumps with that shirt!
I don’t usually like plaid shirts but I love this one. I think it’s because it looks more feminine than the norm. You’re rocking the color today!
See, I never knew it was even a movie! I only know of it as a song…and my first time even hearing the song was way back in “American Idol” when Adam Lambert performed it as a contestant.
Love that you chose a pop of color in the shoes to pick up on the pinks in the blouse. Nice style choice.
Thanks, Vivi!
Very pretty blouse, it looks great paired up with dark jeans and those pink pumps!

Really pretty outfit. You could have worn your new Hallmark necklace , would be pretty with it too.
You’re right, it would. I photographed this before I had the necklace. 🙂
This is a very nice outfit Love the post
Your legs look a mile long in this! Seriously, you’re killing it in those heels!!
I have this very same bag, but in black. It took the place of a Marc Jacobs bag I carried for years. It’s current, a little bit hip, a little bit punk/tough. Perfect for me!
Love the colors in that shirt and I am becoming a fan of the popover top. Like you said, you don’t have to worry about buttons or the gaping that can come with them. You look lovely and those shoes are so cute! Great look on you, JoLynne. – Amy
