#NSale 2024 Preview: Early Favorites

Alright, ladies. This is it! The long awaited Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview is live online, and shopping for Icon Nordy Club members starts tonight at 12:01 AM ET/9:01 PM PT!

I rounded up my early favorites for you, and since I first published this post, I’ve had more time to peruse the #NSale offerings this year, so there are some new additions to the shopping widgets. I also added a section with my top Men’s Picks, along with my personal #NSale Wish List, and Amy’s too!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: A Refresher

If you’re new to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, start here: 2024 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dates & Info. Also, be sure to sign up for my #NSale email list, where I send exclusive #NSale content and the first notifications when I have new posts!

Here’s the gist: The Anniversary Sale is when Nordstrom brings out a large selection of their Fall 2024 inventory and immediately marks it down so you can get “of the moment trends” at a discount before the season even begins. Some items are best sellers from previous seasons, but many are brand new styles.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is also a great time to stock up on personal care products and refresh your wardrobe basics like bras, underwear, t-shirts, etc.

Affiliate Links & How to Support My Work

I also want to make one more comment by way of disclosure, and also to clarify how bloggers and influencers make an income. I earn a small commission on items purchased from the links on my blog and social media channels. That is how I’m able to run this blog as a business and offer all of my content for free. It is my goal to always be 100% authentic and transparent, and I only recommend products I truly believe are worth the investment.

When it comes to commission links from a blogger or Instagram post or a Nordstrom Style Board, the last link is what counts. That means, if you click a link on my blog and put items in your virtual shopping cart or Wish List, and then go to another blog or style board and click through that link and check out, that person gets the credit for the entire sale.

If you want to support my small business during the #NSale (or anytime, really!), be sure to click through to the Nordstrom website from my blog immediately before checking out. The social media space can seem very loud and chaotic at times, and I know there are a lot of people vying for your attention, so I appreciate your support so very much!

#NSale Shopping Quick Tips

As you prepare to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, here are my best tips for making the most of it and getting the items you want.

  1. Shop online, rather than in-store. The store is a zoo, especially during Early Access, and the most popular sizes are often stuck in someone’s dressing room or they’ve already been pulled for online orders. It’s a lot more efficient to shop online, plus online shopping starts at midnight, and stores don’t open until 9 or 10AM, so you get first dibs on the best products. (If you want your items right away, you can always opt for Store Pickup!)
  2. Know your influencer level. (Follow this link and log in to find out your status.) Then set an alarm so you remember to get online and place your order from your Wish List as soon as it’s your turn to shop.
  3. Pay for expedited shipping. This helps cut down on order cancellations when the computers can’t keep up with how fast the inventory is moving. If you pay for the next day or two-day shipping, your order will get processed more quickly, and it’s less likely to get canceled. You will also get it faster!
  4. Shop early and often. Popular items sell out quickly, and they can disappear from your cart while you’re making up your mind. If you KNOW you want something, purchase that first, then go back and take your time sorting through the rest.
  5. Buy 2 sizes. If in doubt, buy two sizes and return the one that doesn’t work for you. The hottest items sell out within the first few hours (no joke), and if you wait to get your order, find out you need a different size, and go to re-order, it may not be available.
  6. GET THE APP! This is a new tip this year, because the Nordstrom app* will notify you when items on your wish list get restocked. (Make sure to turn on price drop and back-in-stock notifications for Wish List, Shopping Bag, and Saved for Later items. It should prompt you to do this when you download the app and go to your Wish List.)

* It used to be that affiliate links would not get counted if you shopped from the app, but they have fixed that, so if you are someone who likes to make sure I get credit for your purchases, feel free to shop via app or website. As always, thank you so much for your support!

Alright, let’s get this party started! I’ve spent hours combing through the Nordstrom website to find all the best items across all categories, and these are my favorites so far.

#NSale 2024: Tops & Sweaters

Click to Shop

I’m combining tops and sweaters, so there’s a lot to digest here, but I’m more excited about the sweaters than the tops. I like the collared styles, and there are still a lot of stripes out there. There’s more color this year than in years past, but neutrals are still going strong. I’m loving the soft blues and warm brown shades.

My early favorites are this gorgeous Theory Cable Knit Sweater, this Veronica Beard Johnny Collar Pullover, and this Treasure & Bond Speckled Pima Cotton Blend Sweater. I’m also excited to see my Rails Geneva Cardigan in an oatmeal color, and this Vince short sleeve wool and cashmere sweater is back this year in 4 new colors. (I have the burgundy from last year’s #NSale.)

#NSale 2024: The Best Denim

Click to Shop

I’m seeing a lot of familiar denim styles in this year’s #NSale, and there’s a good assortment of silhouettes represented. I’m happy to see some of my favorite styles from MOTHER, PAIGE, and FRAME in fresh washes. The MOTHER Weekenders are included, as well as the FRAME Le Easy Flare Jeans in a raw hem style and the PAIGE Anessa High Waist Raw Hem Wide Leg Jeans in a full length style. Also, the PAIGE Laurel Canyon High Waist Flare Jeans are back, and I’m excited to try the MOTHER The Twister Sneak High Waist Flared Wide Leg Jeans.

In the under-$100 range, there’s tons of Wit & Wisdom denim in the #NSale this year, KUT from the Kloth and Good American make a good showing as well. The Meg Patch Pocket Wide Leg Jeans look amazing.

#NSale 2024: The Best Shoes & Boots

Click to Shop

Boot trends this season seem to be leaning toward the sleeker and more streamlined styles, not as many lug soles or chunky heels, and I’m not seeing much of the Western trend this year. This makes sense, considering where all of the fashion trends are going. I love the more elegant styles, but they aren’t always practical for my casual lifestyle, so I have to be careful and not get too carried away buying things I love but won’t have anywhere to wear.

There seem to be more shoes that are not boots in the sale this year, and the sneaker selection is especially strong. I love the On Cloud options, there are some new P448s, and I’ve got my eye on these Paul Green 90s inspired sneakers. Then there are lots of flats and some nice sandal options. I also noticed these iconic Stuart Weitzman Nudistsong 4″ heels. I finally donated mine (even though I adore them) because I can’t walk in heels that high anymore, but I’ve got my eye on this lower heel version.

#NSale 2024: The Best Handbags & Luggage

Click to Shop

I won’t lie, this year is not my favorite for bags. There are some nice luggage options, though, and AllSaints has some really nice styles. I also like this Rebecca Minkoff leather tote quite a lot. I rounded up a lot of cute styles, but most seem to be really small. At least you can get an idea of the trending styles.

#NSale 2024: Coats & Jackets

This year, we’re seeing a lot of elevated wool coats and more tailored styles. There’s also a nice selection of winter coats, and leather jacket options too. I have my eye on this AllSaints leather bomber.

As far as jackets go, I finally got a chance to go back and look through that section more thoroughly, and I’m finding a lot of cute transitional jackets in various styles and fabrics. Also, my go-to KUT from the Kloth Jacqueline Denim Jacket is included in the sale this year!

I divided this section into two shopping widgets, jackets & completer pieces and coats & outerwear.

#NSale 2024: Best Skirts and Dresses

Click to Shop

2024 is the year of the skirt, and that is reflected in the offerings at the #NSale this year. There are also lots of dresses, from casual to dressy, and many are light enough to start wearing now.

As you probably know, I don’t have much passion for dresses and skirts, especially in the fall. I’m much more of a denim and sweater girlie, but I did round up some nice options for you below. There are probably a lot more, so if this is your thing, definitely give that section a scroll on the Nordstrom website!

#NSale 2024: Favorite Foundations

The #NSale is a great time to stock up on bras and underwear, and they have a lot of the usual favorites included. The True & Co. bralette is back this year; I love these for sleeping. And the popular Wacoal t-shirt bra and Red Carpet Strapless Bra are included again.

For underwear, I love the Hanky Panky Cotton & Stretch Lace Original Rise Thong for wearing with jeans for no pantylines and the Natori Bliss Briefs for sleeping. They also have Period underwear in the sale this year.

#NSale 2024: Best of Beauty

The #NSale Beauty Exclusives always sell out fast, so be sure to pop these in your cart and check out right away when it’s your time to shop. I always stock up on large sizes of my favorite beauty products like the L’Occitane Almond Oil Shower Gel and the Kiehl’s Creme De Corps Body Moisturizer.

#NSale Best of Men’s Fashion

I went through most of the men’s section and rounded up some of the items I’ve got my eye on for Paul and David. Paul dresses fairly casually for work, and he loves AG jeans, so I’ll definitely be picking up a pair of those as well as some shirts and sweaters, and I’m definitely grabbing him this Vince zip-up jacket. I’ve also got a few of those Nike items on my Wish List for David.

As with the rest of the images in this post, I only have a small selection on the graphic. Be sure to scroll through the shopping widget below to see everything I found.

I also thought it would be fun to share Amy’s #NSale Wish List. Amy is my longtime VA (virtual assistant) who has become a dear friend. She is my age with three kids and a husband who works in IT — we basically live parallel lives, haha! If you’re in the JLS Insider’s Facebook Group, you already know and love her! Here’s a few things she’s excited to shop at the #NSale this year.

  1. Vince looks good this year – excited to pick up some of their sweaters. Frank & Eileen has been in the sale for the past few years. I love their stuff and have their travel sets and am excited to hopefully grab it in the cognac color.

  2. Thank you for your first thoughts on the NAS. Curious…what size did you purchase in the Rails Geneva cardigan and the Rails Harris Polo? Thanks!

  3. I was specifically looking for booties this year, but it is very limited and not different from what I already own. I’m wondering, do you think sneakers and loafers will be more on point for the fall?

  4. Love your photo in your email. Looks like Fager’s Island…what a perfect place to watch the sunset! Enjoy your last day of vacation!

  5. Thanks for this overview! While items are marked down, it would be nice if the majority of the items were at least 50% off. Being a former retail worker, I know that the original prices are marked up before they are marked down, to make us think we are getting a bargain, when we’re not. Unless it’s something that I really need, I normally don’t buy things that aren’t marked down at least 50%.

    1. Ginger, I find your comment very interesting! What retailer did you work for? I also worked retail (JJill) and we never “marked up” items to then mark down and make costumers think they are saving more than they are! Nordstrom seems to be very upfront with the original price which the items will return to when the sale is over.

  6. I feel a little underwhelmed by the sale this year. Maybe I have over shopped all year lol . Nothing is really jumping out at me, but I’m looking forward to your try ons that always helps me with my decisions!

  7. Thanks for the recap! Looks like there are some really good things. I am so tired of almost all sweaters and sweatshirts being drop shoulder. Sigh. When will that “trend” die? Also I think it would be so helpful for Nordstrom to have shoes and boots photographed on models. I am not sure why they never feature models in their footwear. So I am definitely hoping you can get your hands on both the P448 Kelli and the Paul Green retro sneaker to give us a report on which one is comfiest and the best in person! 🙂 Thanks for combing through the sale for us!

  8. I was surprised to see so many knee high boots in the sale. How are we styling them? With wide leg jeans and crop flares?
My forever issue with shopping is that I can find pieces I love and that fit, but then don’t know what they ‘go’ with or how to style an outfit. I suppose it’s a learned skill, but not one I’m sure I’ll ever master.

    1. I’m mostly seeing tall boots with dresses and skirts. And I know what you mean, putting it together can be tricky. I really try to pay attention to not just what items look current, but also how to put them together in a current way.

  9. Wow I just added a bunch of items to my wish list, thank you for picking out some great items! I even picked a couple from Amy’s list!

  10. Never ordered Vince before for my husband. I like the jacket you showcased. Any idea how that brand runs? Is it more of a European cut, which usually runs more narrower? What size will you be ordering for Paul and can you share his sport coat and pants waist size for comparison? Thanks

    1. I’m not sure about their men’s fits. I will order the large. That’s what he almost always wears. I’m not sure his sports coat size. Pants are 33 or 34.

  11. What are the current sunglasses trends? I’m in need of a new pair and started looking around. The oversized sunglasses seem to be getting replaced with smaller frames like cat eye and aviator styles. Is this true? More like the 90s sunglasses?

  12. Jo-Lynne thanks so much for the post yesterday with the capsule wardrobe. I love how you organized the outfits so that each page uses the same shirt as the “anchor” for each look. It helps me absorb all the ideas without getting overwhelmed. I love it when I can see the pieces used in an outfit. Not ashamed to admit I wish my wardrobe came with those “Garanimal” tags from grade school days. Your outfit ideas are the next best thing LOL.
