Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: A Refresher

If you’re new to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, start here: 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dates & Info. Also, be sure to sign up for my #NSale email list, where I send exclusive #NSale content and the first notifications when I have new posts!

Here’s the gist: The Anniversary Sale is when Nordstrom brings out a large selection of their Fall 2023 inventory and immediately marks it down so you can get “of the moment trends” at a discount before the season even begins.

Some items are best sellers from previous seasons, but many are brand new styles. This is one of my favorite outfits from last year’s #NSale, and I was happy to see they brought back the jacket and the jeans this year!

Treasure & Bond Leather Bomber with Faux Shearling Collar (IT’S BACK!) // AG Farrah Fray Hem Bootcut Jeans // similar AllSaints tote // similar Marc Fisher booties // similar cashmere v-neck sweater

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is also a great time to stock up on personal care products and refresh your wardrobe basics like bras, underwear, t-shirts, etc.

#NSale Shopping Quick Tips:
  1. Shop online, rather than in-store. The store is a zoo, especially during Early Access, and many items are stuck in someone’s dressing room. It’s a lot more efficient to shop online, plus online shopping starts at midnight, and stores don’t open until 9 or 10AM.
  2. Shop early and often. Popular items sell out quickly, and they can disappear from your cart while you’re making up your mind. If you KNOW you want something, purchase that first, then go back and take your time sorting through the rest.
  3. Shop online and choose the Contactless Curbside Pickup option. This is the best way to avoid the chaos and crowds AND get the things you want immediately. Of course, not all stores carry the full #NSale inventory, so you may have to wait for some items to ship.
  4. Buy 2 sizes. If in doubt, buy two sizes and return the one that doesn’t work for you. The hottest items sell out within the first few hours (no joke), and if you wait to get your order, find out you need a different size, and go to re-order, it may not be available.
  5. Pay for expedited shipping. This helps cut down on order cancellations when the computers can’t keep up with how fast the inventory is moving. If you pay for the next day or two-day shipping, your order will get processed more quickly, and it’s less likely to get canceled.

FYI, all of my #NSale coverage can be found under the #NSALE tab at the top of my blog. (On mobile, tap the 3 lines at the top left for the dropdown menu.) As I add new posts, they will be added to that tab.

Alright, let’s get this party started! I’ve spent hours combing through the Nordstrom website to find all the best items across all categories, and these are my favorites so far.

#NSALE 2023: The Best Tops & Sweaters

I’m combining tops and sweaters, so there’s a lot to digest here, but I’m not seeing a whole lot new in this category this year. The one thing I will say is, I love that raglan sleeves are replacing drop shoulders. Hooray! Also, I’m seeing more v-neck sweaters, although there are still plenty of crewnecks. As far as the tops go, I’m seeing a lot of the cowl necklines, which I personally adore.

My early favorites are this Vince blouse *swoon* and this cap sleeve sweater. I’m also curious to try this funnel neck cashmere sweater and this raglan sleeve wool and cashmere v-neck in that Tea Berry (although Bay and Ecru are gorgeous too!)

Also, the Nordstrom Signature cashmere hoodie is back, but I noticed it isn’t 100% cashmere this year. However, the Vince Weekend V-Neck Cashmere Sweater is in the sale this year in the Camel – it’s such a good basic that you can have for years, and it’s one of the only 100% cashmere sweaters by Vince in this year’s #NSale.

The other one is this plush cardigan, which looks AMAZING, but it comes with a hefty price tag, even on sale. My guess it it’s worth it if it is something you will wear a lot and keep for 10 years… but I realize that’s not everyone.

#NSALE 2023: The Best Denim

I’m seeing a lot of familiar denim styles in this year’s #NSale, and there’s a good assortment of silhouettes represented. I don’t see a lot of low-rise jeans, which were supposedly coming back around, but mid-rise is more prevalent than it was in recent years.

I’m happy to see some of my favorite styles from MOTHER, PAIGE, and FRAME in fresh washes. I really want to try the MOTHER Hustler Roller Heel and the ankle-length PAIGE Leenah. My favorite MOTHER Weekenders are included, as well as the MOTHER Hustler in a great washed black. A lot of last year’s AG best sellers are back too, including the AG Farrah Bootcut, the AG Mari in blue and black, and the Prima mid rise cigarette leg jeans.

In the under-$100 range, there’s tons of Wit & Wisdom denim in the #NSale this year, and Good American and NYDJ make a good showing as well.

#NSALE 2023: The Best Shoes & Boots

Boot trends this year are all over the place. I’m seeing everything from sleek and tailored knee high boots to chunky retro platform styles. Moto boots are having a moment this season, and Western styles are still going strong. I’m still seeing some lug sole Chelsea boots, but there are far more of the sleeker streamlined styles, with a lot of pointed and squared-off toes. I also appreciate the lower heel heights.

This was one of the first pairs on my wish list, but I can’t decide between chalk and black. I’m also having a hard time choosing between all the gorgeous Aquatalia options. This is such a nice update to the more casual pair I had last year, and these knee boots are gorgeous, as are these! I think we’ll be seeing more knee boots this season, but paired with denim skirts and dresses rather than worn over skinny jeans.

In addition to boots, I’m seeing a lot of transitional loafers and mules, as well as pointy toe flats and slingback pumps. There are some really good P448 sneakers in the sale this year, too. This was the first pair I put on my wish list, and I also have my eye on these AllSaints court sneakers.

#NSALE 2023: The Best Handbags

I usually pick up new handbag or three during the #NSale, and I did find a few to add to my Wish List, although you may be sad to hear Tory Burch isn’t participating this year. That said, I’m finding some nice options from Coach, AllSaints, kate spade new york, and Rebecca Minkoff… and a great little crossbody from HOBO!

Also, for some reason, I’m really feeling drawn to this demi diagonal straw shoulder bag from btb Los Angeles, even though it’s more summer than fall. Or maybe that’s WHY I’m feeling drawn to it right now!

#NSALE 2023: Coats & Jackets

There are tons of blazers in this year’s sale, so if that’s your thing, this is the time to lean in. I’m not a big fan of blazers, but they have a good selection of leather moto jackets. My Caslon hooded leather jacket and Treasure & Bond leather bomber with shearling collar are both back again this year!

I have my eye on this leather biker jacket in the Tan Doeskin, and I like the look of this denim moto jacket in the olive. Also, this AllSaints Dalby Biker Jacket in Moonlight Pink is really cool. I have that one in a burgundy color from a few years ago. They also have the black one in this year’s sale!

As far as coats go, I’m seeing lots of wrap style and long line coats – both winter wool and trench styles, but I can’t seem to get excited about those while I’m sitting on the beach, feeling the ocean breeze, haha!

#NSALE 2023: Dresses & Skirts

I haven’t had time to get through all the dresses in the sale, and I don’t usually buy a lot of fall/winter dresses, but here are a few that I’m curious to try. The one pictured above looks fairly versatile (love that Grape Wine color) and this sweater wrap dress in the Deep Teal looks really fun.

As for skirts, I think we’re going to be seeing more of those this season. I added a few of those that I want to try to the list below.

#NSALE 2023: Favorite Foundations

There are a lot of really good foundations in this year’s sale, including some of my favorites from this post. I will definitely be stocking up on a lot of those, as well as trying a few new items included in the widget below.

  1. I have been eyeing that leather bomber since last season. I’m trying to decide between the small and the medium. I’m smaller on top, but with larger hips. I go between a 6 and 8, but typically order mediums for jackets. I just don’t want it to swim on me. 5’6 147lbs. Thoughts? Thanks!

  2. Question, I’d like to try premium denim. Seeking a great pair of flare jeans. I have no idea if Frame, Mother, Veronica Beard any of the premium brands have a better fit for curvy pear shapes. I’m petite with a 29 inch waist and 41 inch hips. I realize sticking with Spanx and curvy fits from AT and WHBM May just be my best options. I don’t want to order lots of jeans in 30’s and 31’s that I can’t pull over my hips because that’s no fun!

  3. Unfortunately this year my daughter and I won’t be able to shop the Nordstrom sale! Since they closed all Canadian stores and on line shopping!😔 It’s such a shame as we would get so many great staples for fall and winter!

  4. I don’t know what it is but the NSALE this year seems same ol’ same ol’. I’ve been shopping the NSALE since I was in high school and it’s just not the same. I’m looking for cute sweaters with no wool. Hard to find. So if you come across any as I know others can’t wear wool either. For everyday, casual wear I don’t wear the sleek pointy toe boots so will be looking for more casual ones. I like the Steve Madden suede one and wish they made in leather. In the NW it’s just to rainy and I’ve learned suede doesn’t work here. I’m ready to see styles on you as it always looks better than the models. Have fun at the beach.

      1. I would love to be able to wear wool but it makes me itch so I can’t. Must be allergic. It’s cold enough in the Winter here to wear wool. We have similiar weather to you each season but less snow.

  5. I don’t want to be negative, but I am not that thrilled about the NSale after all.I was so excited after getting the catalog in the mail last week, but now not so much. The preview shopping glitch was handled poorly, but it didn’t stop me from digging into the preview of sale merchandise. However, I have noticed so many repeat items that have been in the store all year – some items with reviews from customers dating back to 2022! What is going on? I thought this sale was supposed to be focused on new fall styles that customers could get at a good price. I still have my eye on a few coats and blazers which is now the main focus of my shopping of this sale, but I am so happy I ended up shopping the recent Bloomingdales “buy more save more” sale. Their denim choices in particular were much more varied. Shopping in some smaller local boutiques recently, I’ve heard that the most popluar denim styles for this fall are mid-rise, full length, straight and flare jeans. But NSale is still showing super high rise and cropped flare styles. I also heard that long vests are coming back and textured sweaters but none of that is on the Nordstrom site. So confusing!
