One of my favorite brands for casual clothing is Splendid. Their materials are super soft and feel great on, and their styles are casual but polished. I first discovered them at Nordstrom, but they have a much bigger selection on their website so I often order directly from there because they have free shipping and free returns.
Their products are a little bit spendy, but you are paying for quality and supporting a company that is environmentally conscious and connected to the community. You can see their Splendid Cares page for more information.
I ordered two cold shoulder tops before we left for our Maine vacation — this pink Vintage Whisper Layer Tee and a black Rayon Jersey Cold Shoulder Tee. I actually prefer the fit of the black one. It is super flattering from the front, and I like the way it sits on the shoulders better, but it has a back cut out detail that I don’t really care for.
I really love the color of this pink top, but I think I could have sized down. It’s a medium.
I was planning to wear it with my white cropped jeans and wedge sandals for a date night look, but it was so incredibly hot the day we shot these photos, I paired it with white shorts and flat sandals instead.
My R Minkoff Studded Gladiator Sandals are still in stock in most sizes and on sale for $99 at Nordstrom. I have the Sand Leather. These are so soft and comfortable. I love them. I did size down to a 7 1/2 (I usually wear an 8 in a sandal) so keep that in mind if you order them.
I picked up this Tory Burch Convertible Crossbody at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I like how it has silver hardware because most of my bags have gold. You certainly don’t have to match your bag to your jewelry, but I like it when it works out that way, and I wear silver often.
Again, the day I wore this outfit was super hot and humid, so I just wore big earrings and a chunky bracelet and I didn’t mess with a necklace. These earrings are from Silpada, and unfortunately they are no longer available. Silpada is actually going out of business!
I just wore this outfit hanging out with family while we were on vacation, but it’s certainly cute enough for going to the mall or out to lunch with friends. This shade of pink also pairs well with light or dark denim.

Here’s a mirror selfie I took at home wearing this top with my white cropped jeans and wedge sandals. This is how the shirt looked when it was new. I washed it before I packed it for our trip, and I didn’t have a chance to iron it the day we took pictures. I didn’t realize how much it needed an iron till I looked back at this picture!
And while we’re at it, here’s a shot of the black one. It fits closer to the body, and the shoulder cut outs are smaller so it stays in place much better.

I hope y’all are having a good week. We went on a hike yesterday and then had lunch at a casual seafood restaurant that we discovered on the way back to camp. Here’s a picture from the top.
It was a bit of a rugged hike, but it was worth it for that view.

It’s funny because I never iron my tees either—I figure they are t-shirts, so they don’t need it.
I guess that’s an advantage of the black one—you probably wouldn’t see the wrinkles! But I do love the pink with your complexion!

The black one is a different material entirely. I don’t think it would wrinkle. I laid my pink one out to dry, but I think I’ll toss it in the dryer next time and take an iron and that Faultless Starch to it. I like it better hanging out, but it was too long with the shorts so I did the front tuck. I think it’s more flattering with the crop jeans, but I had to see the pictures to realize that. Interesting!
Oh no! Ordered the same black Splendid top from Nordstrom a few weeks ago– it’s on backorder. But I’m guessing I’m not going to like the cut-outs on the back either. That will teach me to pay closer attention before I drop things in my cart! So I’m still on the hunt for the perfect black cold shoulder top. Thank-you so much for sharing the photo from your hike. I just returned home from 2 weeks in the Lake Sebago area and hiked every morning with children and grandchildren. Your photo made me smile.
It is really cute, but it splits over the widest part of my rear end and it just wasn’t flattering from behind. 🙁 I LOVE how it fits from the front tho.
I think these tops look nice on you, but I’m still not crazy about this trend and the off shoulder look. I’ve tried on a few of them and feel as if I look particularly wide in the shoulders (especially with the off shoulder tops/dresses). I wear a small in tops, so I wouldn’t think my shoulders are unusually wide. Also, for some reason I think the off shoulder is just a little too immodest (Yes I know this makes me sound like an old lady prude). I think if I were in my 20’s instead of almost 45 I may see it differently.
Cute outfit today. Thanks for posting such beautiful scenery.
I love the look of these studded sandals you are wearing, Jo-Lynne. What I am unsure about are the silver studs on them. I wear a lot more gold jewellery and I wonder, would it look off with gold jewellery do you think? I know there is the gold version but somehow this sand colour appeals to me more. Any thoughts? Thanks! I love your blog, btw 🙂
I hear ya! It’s fine to mix gold and silver these days, however, I do like these sandals best with silver jewelry – and the handbag hardware too. So yeah… I feel your pain. 🙂
