Summer is the season for travel, and I’m making up for lost time this year! I have a family beach vacation coming up, as well as our trip to Italy later in the season, and I just enjoyed a weekend getaway to New England for a family wedding.
The location was a beautiful coastal town in New Hampshire, and I found the perfect polished casual summer outfit for our first night’s dinner at Talbots.

Talbots is known for their modern classic style; and they carry a wide range of sizes for everybody including misses, plus, petite, and plus petite options.
This linen blend top is a little more elevated than your basic tee, and I love the cinched details at the shoulder and the pretty ties at the sleeve cuffs. It has an easy fit and a straight hemline, and it runs true to size. I’m wearing the small.
This top comes in a bunch of colors, but I chose the Red Pop and paired it with these crisp white straight leg cropped jeans for a classic summer look.
These jeans are a blend of cotton, polyester, lyocell, rayon, and spandex, so they have a good bit of stretch and a refined look about them. They have a 25″ inseam, which is the perfect cropped length on me at 5’5″.
I like cropped jeans with flat sandals, so I wore a pair of luxe Vachetta leather sandals with a sleek gold ring at the top in a classic shade of tan.
They have a memory foam footbed with heel and vamp padding for extra comfort and support, and they run true to size.
I also picked up a couple pieces of jewelry at Talbots to complement this look. These textured hoop earrings are ideal for everyday wear, and the split hoop design is eye-catching and so pretty.
And unfortunately, this Beach Stripes Bracelet Set sold out, but it has such pretty details. This one is similar.
You could top off this look with a denim jacket on a chilly evening, but I also love the elegant simplicity of the red top and white pants with the warm contrast of the brown sandals.

I was reading the reviews on the Vechetta leather sandals and some said they run wide…I know you’re a narrow girl, too…do these stay on your feet well? Thanks for the great posts!
They’re a little wide but I can walk in them because they have the thong.
Love this! Wondering if you think the cropped jean would work for someone who’s 5’ 10”? I didn’t check to see if they were available in tall. I like the cropped style but sometimes it can appear capri-like on taller girls. 😂

I wouldn’t want them any shorter on me, so I would think they’d be too short for taller ladies. You might try this pair instead.

Haha. So true! In your opinion, which are more comfortable – the Talbot ones or your Tory Burch Millers?
My TB Millers are so well broken in from years of use that it’s hard to compare. They’re a little more soft and flexible than the Talbots pair, but both require some breaking in.
Some reviews on the Talbots site said that the red tee was scratchy. Did you find it to be scratchy?
No, not at all. I mean, it isn’t super soft but it’s linen so that stands to reason. It isn’t uncomfortable though.
