What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?

We don’t usually do gifts, but we like to go out for dinner. I’m hoping to farm out our kids to some friends so we can have a date night on the 13th. (Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year.) We have dinner reservations, but we’ll have to see how the childcare works out.

You’d think that with the ages of my kids, it would be easy for us to get out, but honestly, I think it was easier when they needed babysitting. They’re in a funny in-between age right now, but it’s all good. Even if we end up having a family Valentine’s Day celebration at home, what matters is that we have each other, right???

In fact, it could be kind of fun. I bet I can get Caroline to bake a cake. She’s 13 and is all into cake decorating. Hmmm . . . If I buy pasta, the kids could even make us dinner. Now, there’s an idea!!

Meanwhile, have fun perusing the gift ideas in this post. February 14th is the last official day of my capsule wardrobe challenge, so I’ll definitely be ready to treat myself to some new spring duds that weekend!

  1. We don’t buy gifts or go out to dinner. I would much rather go out to dinner on a normal day, when the restaurants aren’t slammed!
