Coffee Talk + Reader Survey

Good morning! I hope you’re having a good weekend and staying warm. It’s been frigid here, but sunny without much wind, so it’s actually been quite pleasant. It’s supposed to warm up just a bit here for a few days, so I scheduled a photo shoot with Alison for tomorrow. I’m all out of pictures again. It’s amazing how fast that happens!

I appreciate the responses so far to my Reader Survey. I mentioned it in yesterday’s email newsletter, but in case you missed it or didn’t have time, I’d love for you to take a few minutes to fill it out. It’s been a few years since I’ve done one of these, so I thought it was time to get a gauge on how things are going. All the questions are optional, and it’s entirely anonymous.

Of course, I know I can’t be all things to all people, and I’m not trying to. But if you have any constructive feedback about my blog content, my blog format/ease of use, my email newsletter, or my Instagram and Facebook content, I would love to hear it.

I’ll leave the survey open for about a week, and then I’ll share the results here on the blog. Also, if you do want a response, just leave your email along with your question or comment. I will be reading every one, and I truly value your input.

As I was reading through some of the comments yesterday, there were a few that I really wanted to be able to respond to, so I’m making a list of those, and I’ll include them in next Saturday’s Q&A in the email newsletter.

If you don’t subscribe, you can do that here. There’s a daily and weekly option. The weekly email goes out on Saturdays, and it recaps the week’s blog posts, plus I usually do a Q&A and round up some of my weekend sale picks. The daily email always includes my most recent blog post, and I usually have a few newsletter-exclusive features as well.

I understand that we all get way to much email, so I really try to make my newsletter an added value, plus it’s by far the best way to get notified when I have a new post.

If you used to be on the list and you haven’t been getting emails lately, let me know in the comments (or email me if you prefer) and I’ll help you get it sorted out.

In other news, my powder room project is progressing nicely. I’m calling it 90% done. Here’s a peek.

I still need to get the window treatment, which is the biggest missing piece, and I ordered some pretty hand towels. Thanks to whomever suggested Weezie — they’re exactly what I was looking for. I also want to get a basket for the bottom shelf of the vanity to put extra TP and hand towels in.

There’s a lot more over on my Instagram Story, if you want to check that out. I just created a highlight with all of those videos since they expired.

I realize not everyone is on Instagram, but I do more life sharing type of stuff over there. There’s no easy way to put my Instagram Stories on the blog, but I’ll be doing a full blog post with pictures of the process once it is all finished.

Before you ask, I don’t have a link for the wallpaper or mirror or lights. I worked with a designer, and we got those through her vendors. The vanity is Signature Hardware, and I think you can find that online. And this is the faucet. I also picked up a bougie soap (lol!) and a diffuser at Pottery Barn.

I’m headed out to church, so I’ll cut this off here. Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I’ve never been a big fan of wallpaper but the navy and white in your powder room is beautiful! The white vanity, gold accessories and crown mounding are just small things that give it a luxurious look. Can’t wait to see the window treatment!

  2. Beautiful powder room! I’m not a wallpaper fan but as someone else here noted, I could make an exception for this tile-like pattern. Very classy. Also sets off your gorgeous crown molding. Love it.

  3. The bathroom refresh went fast! Looks good! We’re getting ready to start on our kitchen …what started out as “let’s replace our sink” turned into soooo much more!
I filled out your reader survey while at the hairdresser yesterday. I remembered you doing this few years back. I think it’s such a great idea. I do something similar for my students and their parents twice a year. I love reading their favorites and their questions.
You are a unique blogger – the only one I follow. (I stopped following a few others because they became uninteresting or unrelatable). I said this in my survey, but I’ll say it here. I would think it’s hard for you to appeal to such a wide range of geographical regions (it’s 75 and windy at my house today and I’m sitting outside in my bare feet) and the different ages of women, but somehow you seem to be able to make it work and you have a loyal following here of genuine people. Although I don’t buy as much winter clothing as you feature, I still enjoy seeing your choices. Thank you!

  4. I have blues as an accent color with our neutral decor…So I just fell in love with that wallpaper!
Sunny and cold here today but just around zero which is better than -16 the last few days.

  5. I forgot to mention in my survey, but i love that you don’t rely much on Amazon. I’d rather support actual businesses than random manufacturers in China.

  6. Your powder room looks lovely. I really missed your Saturday Q & A. Believe it or not, it’s one of my favorite parts of your blog.

  7. I really like the new powder room and how it coordinates with your dining room and foyer! Hobby Lobby may have the perfect basket. They have been my go-to store for decorative items for years and the cost doesn’t break the bank. It was 17 here this morning, which is very unusual for this part of Georgia. Thanks for providing the link for the reader survey gain, since I failed to complete it yesterday. I hope that you’ve had a great day!

  8. I cannot believe that is wallpaper! I honestly thought it was tile! The powder room looks beautiful, classy, modern.

  9. I am loving your powder room! It’s starting to look like we might FINALLY be getting ready to start our hurricane repairs and the remodel that has to happen due to structural damage. 17 months is a LONG time to not be able to live in your house. 🙁 I also just filled out your survey. So thankful I found your blog! I hope you have a great week!

  10. Your home is so tastefully done, shades of blue are my favorite for decorating as I have used it in my home since the 90’s; never goes out of style. I watch HGTV a lot and love the show “Love it or List it”, Hillary has started featuring wallpaper as accents in a lot of her decorating, you did a good job on your bath! I recently stripped the wallpaper from my upstairs bath and did eggshell finish when I painted and now need to do the downstairs bath, I had installed the paper in the 90’s with a border which was all the rage then so I’m not keen on re-papering anything at this time. It is a real job if you have to DIY which I’ve done all the painting in my home as well, not quite as eager as I’ve gotten older, may tackle when the weather warms up! Have a good week, I enjoy all your ideas!

  11. Pretty powder room. Bet you just love it. I forgot to add about Amazon in my survey. I’m thankful you haven’t gone to posting clothes from there. I’ve ordered twice only and both clothing pieces were disappointing. Cheap and not worth the money. Never again.
