What I Wore Lately Vol. 106

How’s everyone doing on this fine Wednesday morning? I’ve got a new edition of What I Wore Lately for you all today. This is a roundup of my everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks, including what I wore to a family wedding last weekend.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

This first look is one I forgot to share a few weeks ago. I found it in my photos, so I thought I’d throw it in here because this top is back in stock, and these sandals are on sale.

(And yes, I did iron those jeans before wearing them out of the house. That’s another way taking these daily outfit pictures is helpful! I notice things like that.)

This is another picture I found that I forgot to include a couple weeks ago. I love all three of these pieces and wear them a ton for gym workouts, walking the dog, PT/chiro appointments, etc.

Vuori hoodie c/o (M) // Athleta tee (M) // Vuori leggings (S) // Brooks sneakers (9)

I’ve already worn this outfit a ton this spring, and I’m excited to carry the top over into summer with shorts.

In fact, I wore it with shorts that afternoon, after it warmed up! (No clue why I changed bags, but as an FYI, my Dragon Diffusion tote is back in stock!)

This is what I wore one day to go walking with friends. I love this Lululemon belt bag for stashing my phone and car key while walking, and I just grabbed a similar one from Gap Factory for an upcoming post, if you’re looking for a lower priced option.

After that, I showered off and threw on this easy look to run a few errands.

I had a chiropractor appt and a spray tan the next day, so I kept it casual with a Vuori tee and cropped pants.

This was the Saturday before David’s graduation party, and Paul and I ran to Costco to stock up on snacks and drinks.

After that, we headed out to see Becca perform with the jazz band at Knoebels, an amusement park in central PA. I changed into jeans after looking at the weather forecast. A big front came through while we were there and cooled everything down, so I was glad I was wearing jeans.

Of all the travel bags I’ve ordered, I still like this HOBO Cassie the best. I’ve had it for something like 5 years. It’s a great size and color, it has several convenient compartments for keeping organized, including card slots so I don’t need a wallet. It also packs nice and flat in my suitcase. After ordering a bunch of new options to try, I think I’m going to end up bringing this one with me to Italy.

I wore this slub knit dress to church the next Sunday. It’s hard to see, but it has some pretty embroidered embellishment at the neck and a tie waist. I wore silver jewelry to coordinate with the silver leather espadrilles.

I kept the navy and white theme going, and changed into this sweater and jeans to host David’s graduation party that afternoon.

This is an outfit I wore to have lunch with a friend one day last week.

And this is what I changed into when I got home. Paul was setting me up for a podcast I was going to be on the next day, that’s what’s going on behind me.

The next morning, I was interviewed on the Everyday Style School Podcast. That’s right! My episode will air in a few weeks, and I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s live.

Even though the podcast is audio only, they use video to record, which was nice so I could see Jen as we were chatting. I figured I should look like a fashion blogger, even if she’s the only one who will see it, so I dressed in an outfit that I think represents my personal style.

Oh, and I finally found some black flat sandals! I’ve been looking for a pair, since I didn’t keep the ones with the silver studs that I wore for the past 2 or 3 summers.

I had an appointment later that day, and I carried my Goyard tote so I could bring my laptop.

I wore this outfit the next day for a mani/pedi appointment and then to run to the mall. My pearl earrings are on sale and an additional 30% off with code SAVEMORE at Bloomingdale’s.

A few years ago, I stalked them until they went on a sale like this, and I snapped them up. I love the extra large size.

I wore this outfit to travel up to New Hampshire last weekend.

We got in just in time to change and go downstairs to have dinner at the hotel before crashing for the night.

I got up the next morning and went downstairs to work in the hotel lobby, but I ended up hanging out with the bridal party in the bridal suite.

Later on, I went back down to help with steaming my cousin’s wedding gown, and I pulled on this preppy look until it was time to get dressed for the wedding.

The wedding was at 3:00 in the afternoon, and the reception started at 4:30, so I went with a “dressy casual” wedding guest look, which is really more dressy than casual. Basically, just short of cocktail attire. You can see more on the various wedding guest dress codes in this post: What To Wear To A Summer Wedding.

Reiss Floral Midi Dress (8) // Stuart Weitzman Strapeze Slides in Fawn (8) // faux pearl hoop earrings // Stella & Dot Rhett Cuff // similar handbag

This dress was kind of an accidental find. I took my mom shopping the last time she was visiting to find something for her to wear to the wedding, and Barb (my fabulous Nordstrom stylist) suggested this Reiss dress. Long story short, my mom didn’t like it for her, so I tried it on, and I loved it.

At that point, I had a few potential options in my closet, but nothing I was super excited about. This dress was more than I wanted to spend, but the quality was evident, and it seemed to strike all the right notes.

The floral pattern is unique and pretty but not too sweet, it has clean lines while the flowy skirt makes it feel feminine and elegant, and that side slit creates a subtle sexy finishing touch.

I did have to have it altered, as it was a little too long in the waist, but it was well worth the additional $40 to have the perfect fit. I will definitely keep this dress in my closet and find some other opportunities to wear it.

Here’s a picture of Paul and me. We were both squinting, but it’s the best one I got.

The next morning, we met some other family members for brunch, and I pulled on this casual white denim outfit.

I threw on a denim jacket for the ride up to Maine with my mom. (She lives up here during the summer.) Since I was already more than halfway here, I figured I’d get a few days of lake time.

This is what I wore on Monday to hang out at camp and drive into town for lobster rolls.

I don’t have any more outfit pictures, as we’ve been pretty much taking it easy, so that’s a wrap!

  1. The dress you wore to the wedding is absolutely stunning on you….love it! As I was scrolling through, I was wondering if you’d decided on a bag for Italy. And then literally the next picture I came to, you showed the Hobo Cassie. I like the size of that. I really considered the Travelon or the Pacsafe, but I just can’t get excited about either one (in any of their styles). And from all the reading that I’ve done, it really seems like the key factor is just to be aware of what’s going on around you. I bought a leather belt bag from BR, which I really like and am planning on taking, but I’m actually hoping to find one or two bags at a leather store when we’re in Florence.

  2. I honestly love all of the outfits! And you’ve given me more ideas for my white jeans.

I’m glad you brought up alterations, which I think many people forget about. I’ve seen posts where someone says that she loved a pair of jeans but put them back because they were too long. What?? Have them shortened! When I try on something I like but would need alterations, I factor that into the cost of the garment and decide if it’s worth it. It usually is! And most alterations aren’t expensive.

  3. The Treasure and Bond top with those white jeans and cute slides looks so nice! Love, love your dress you wore to the wedding, such a pretty photo of you and Paul too!

  4. The Reiss dress is gorgeous and it seemed so perfect for a summer wedding. I can’t wait to hear your episode of Everyday Style, I am sure it’ll be great. I know you’re up to your neck in planning for Italy but I wanted to throw out a suggestion. IF you wear an Apple Watch, I would HIGHLY recommend using your wallet on your watch to pay for things on your trip. It’s very convenient and almost everyone wants “contactless payment” after Covid. Also the information that comes from your watch to the payee is encrypted but really the best part is that you don’t have to open your purse/wallet. I was recently in Paris and London and I was very happy with just my watch. Safe Travels

  5. Love all your outfit choices. I’m going to have to grab my white jeans more. I still haven’t tried the white tee with white jeans with nude belt you showed us. Just got my new nude belt so I’ll try soon. :). I think I need more places to go to wear my clothes. Lol. I’ve been lazy wearing vouri joggers or denim shorts. I still need to bite the bullet and order the pork chop shorts.

  6. PS In the pork chop shorts did you buy your normal size? I see Cyndi bought her normal but they say size down. Do they stretch out? I usually wear a size 4 or 27. 5’3” about 120-122 lbs. Never weigh myself. Don’t own a scale. Going from last doctor apt. Lol.

    1. My experience is that they run large. Like you I normally wear 27/4 and I ended up choosing Size 2 in those shorts and they’re still a little roomy in the waist.

    2. Guess I’ll put my 2cents in on the pork shop shorts too; I ordered my normal size and they might be a tad just a tad large in the waist but I’d rather have them like that than to have shorts too snug in the waist then they tend to ride up and or be a little short in the seat. It also allowed me to have them sit right below my normal waistline and gives them a little more length. I was suprised how nice they look being shy of 4 inches, was afraid they would be too short but they make my legs look longer which helps with being 5’2″. Hope that helps

  7. I really would like to purchase the Tory Birch slides but I Have a very narrow foot. How do you think they run wide or medium or narrow?

  8. Two questions–first can we talk about spray tans? Why do you do these and what’s your methodology. You are the second person I “know” who does these semi-regularly and I’d like to understand more. Don’t they wear off when you wash/shave legs/exfoliate? Is it for a particular event and why? Curious. Okay that’s more than two questions but one topic. Second question is WHAT is the tuck you did with that green sundry tee? I really like it. 😀

    1. I used to get them only when I had a special event or vacation but I started doing them regularly this spring because I realized I feel so much better about myself when I’m tan and I was wearing a lot more dresses this year. I plan to stop them once I get a chance to sit out in the sun a few times. I tan naturally pretty easily.

You don’t want to exfoliate until you’re ready to remove it or prep your skin for the next one. You can shave but I try not to more than necessary as it does fade faster with more washing/shaving.

The green top has a side tie. I didn’t tuck it. ☺️

  9. The striped Loft sweater keeps calling my name, but I haven’t pushed the button since it’s way too hot where I live, even in the Spring, to wear long sleeves. And it’s way too nice to wear to our bonfires. Your mom looked so nice in the pretty pants outfit at the wedding. Your dress is stunning and you look fabulous in it!

  10. You mentioned you don’t remember why you changed bags. I tend to use the same one all of each season because I hate changing them so much. I accumulate a ton of stuff in my purse! Do you use an organizer inside your bag or just limit the amount of things you keep in it?

    1. I only use an organizer in my large work totes. Because I change them so often, I don’t accumulate much stuff. I toss garbage and relocate items that don’t belong in my bag when I swap them out.

  11. I have a question about two items. First, the Zella pink tee: are you wearing a size small? On you, the crew neck doesn’t look too high, but on the Nordstrom model it looks higher on her neck and the tee looks more loose and boxy (looks so much cuter on you BTW).
Second, the LOFT white w/ red stripes sweater. I received a LOFT gift card from a parent and I’ve struggled with liking anything I’ve bought here in the past two years. However, that sweater is cute and good for July 4th and other summer activities so I ordered it. The one I received in the mail was SO tight in the arms and around the neckline too. And the white part looked ivory. I’m not sure if I should order a size up (medium) or order something different. I have 2 weeks left before the windows closes. Any advice?

    1. That is so weird about the LOFT sweater. Mine was nothing like that. What size did you get? I will say, it does grow as you wear it. But mine never seemed tight anywhere. Maybe try another in the same size?
