What I Wore Lately Vol. 122

Hi friends! It’s that time again. Every other week on Wednesday, I share a roundup of my everyday outfits from the past few weeks, and here we are!

As usual, this is real life, so it’s a lot of denim and casual looks, and some of my favorite item from years past. I’ll try to link similar items where I can. This also includes what I wore for my long weekend at the Miraval Resort and Spa.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

I always love a black and white outfit, and the stripes lend a chic Parisian flair. I chose washed black denim to create a subtle contrast with the jet black sweater, and I like how the sleek black loafers bookend the look.

My chunky hoops are on trend, and I went with gold to coordinate with the hardware on the loafers.

I pulled on this casual look to attend an event at the high school. Isn’t it funny how your eye adjusts to new silhouettes?

A couple of years ago, I would have said sneakers with flares are no bueno, but now I really like the proportions of this outfit and the way the relaxed sweater balances out the width of the jeans. I think the openness of the v-neck helps too.

Mixed metal jewelry completes the look. These Jenny Bird pieces add some shine and level up the casual look.

This is one of my favorite hoodies from last year, and I was so happy to see they brought it back in new colors for the season. It’s a tough decision between the lavender and the green. The stripe detail on the sleeves is so fun, and I love the boxy fit with the raw hem.

I wore a more low profile sneaker with this outfit; I like them better with the straight ankle jeans, for some reason. And because it’s ultra casual, I just wore simple studs for jewelry.

I wore this outfit to Pilates. (I removed the pullover about halfway through the class.) The pullover and tank underneath are new; I just picked them up for my trip to Miraval. And I love the Capital Z crossbody when I just need to carry the essentials.

I wore this outfit to church, but I’m not sure I love the camel boots with it. I thought they would pull out the lighter camel tones in the top, but the chocolate brown bag, black jeans, and animal print top are altogether quite dark in contrast with the lighter boots. I feel like they draw too much attention.

Rails blouse (S) // Paige denim (29) (budget option) // Vince booties (8) // similar bag // Madewell necklace // Madewell earrings

The outfit looks a lot better and more complete with the camel topcoat. If I’d worn a black coat, I would have worn black boots.

Also, I love this Madewell necklace set and the hoop earrings, and they’re very affordable.

When I got home, I tried the same blouse and camel booties with blue jeans to see if I’d like it better as a stand-alone outfit.

I feel like this outfit makes more sense because there’s not such a high contrast between the jeans and the boots, and the boots still relate to the camel tones in the blouse. Of course, it’s also not as dressy as the outfit with the black jeans.

I also tried it with black booties, but the jeans almost seem out of place with this look. It’s like the blouse and boots are too dressy for them?

Even though I like some juxtaposition in an outfit, I feel like this look needs one piece that bridges the gap.

Anyway! Moving on… This was a casual date night with Paul. I never get tired of this neutral color palette.

This sweater is old, but it’s so luxe and cozy, I can’t part with it. I love the soothing oatmeal color and the rounded v-neck and relaxed fit, and how it has the perfect drape for a front tuck.

Once again, the camel coat pulls it all together. I especially like the chocolate brown shoulder bag with this outfit, and how they tie into the buttons on the coat. Such subtle details, but it all works together for a pleasing effect.

This is another old sweater here; I’ve been waiting for it to get cold enough to pull it out, and it finally did. This was an #NSale find a couple years ago.

I don’t love the chestnut booties with it. I was wishing I had them in gray, but I was at home all day, so I just wanted to be warm. And I just wore simple diamond studs for jewelry.

Same jeans, another cozy sweater. This one isn’t as warm as the cashmere ones, but I love the bright color palette.

I did have some errands to run that day, and it was cold and messy out, thus the weather-proof booties, and I just left in the same diamond studs. I’m sure I’d slept in them.

It got super cold here and snowed last week, so I broke out my faux shearling coat. I also found a similar option for less, for anyone interested that.

And this is yet another one of my old favorite sweaters that I can no longer link. I like how it relates to the colors in the sneakers.

I didn’t get a picture of my travel outfit before I left or in the airport, but I quick grabbed this shot when I got to my room at the resort. I wore a coat and scarf with it on the plane.

This is what I changed into once I arrived. It was 75 degrees that afternoon! We hung out by the pool and got acquainted, and then I threw on my grey Athleta Pranayama Wrap when it got chilly. That’s also what I wore to dinner that first night. Miraval is very casual.

I also failed to get a picture of the outfit I wore our first full day there, and that was the one that I actually purchased especially for this trip. Ooops!

The next day turned cold, and I layered up! The blue tote was provided for us at Miraval, and it had an outside pocket for carrying a refillable water bottle (also provided) so I used it most of my time there.

Vuori jacket c/o (S) // Vuori hoodie c/o (M) // Vuori Energy Top c/o (M) // Vuori leggings c/o (M) // ON sneakers (9) // Gap Factory baseball cap

This was one of my dinner outfits. Some of us changed, and some of us wore athleisure from the day. It isn’t unusual to see some people at dinner in their spa robes, since the spa is just next door.

I only brought this one pair of jeans, and a couple different sweaters. This black shaker knit v-neck is another old Vince favorite.

Our last full day at the resort, I had a massage scheduled, so I wore clothes that were easy to change in and out of, but I was chilly when I was outside. I really should have brought a full length puffer coat and cozier pants.

Vuori jacket c/o (S) // Zella tee (S) //  Vuori joggers c/o (M) // ON sneakers (9) // baseball cap // Lagos earrings

This was our last dinner at Miraval, so I tried to fix up a bit more. We all shared about what we were taking away from our experience, which was really neat to her.

The restaurant was about a 5-10 minute outside walk from my room, and it was very cold that night, so I bundled up. I also wore this exact same outfit to fly home the next day.

And this is what I wore yesterday. I didn’t go anywhere, and I wasn’t feeling great, but I knew I’d feel better if I got dressed so I pulled on this matching sweatsuit and my favorite sneakers.

And that’s a wrap! I’ll share more about my trip in a future post.

  1. I knew you still wear no show socks even in really cold weather. I laughed when I put on my over the knee boot socks under my corduroy bootleg pants on Sunday when I went to church. It was so cold to me even though it was beginning to warm up since we got above freezing. I thought I bet Jo-Lynn is in her no show socks in Austin. I tell my daughter and grandkids they have Flintstone feet. Last winter every Sunday was not cold enough to wear my sweater dress. I finally got to wear it this year. So far we’ve had two cold Sundays. (Sunday is the only day I would wear a dress.). I don’t get a chance to dress up much so on Sundays I dress my best. It’s too bad our weather was not mild when you came here. I’m about an one hour north of Austin. I never go there anymore because of the traffic. Always enjoy seeing what you wear.

    1. LOL! Well, I will tell you that I was wishing I had brought boots. I was told it was super casual so I only brought sneakers. I did have my cashmere socks that I wore in the room but they don’t really look great with leggings and joggers, so… yeah. My feet weren’t terribly cold, but I would have been happier in boots. 🙂

  2. I really love the flares with sneakers! The model on the Nordstrom website is wearing sneakers too-such a cool relaxed vibe.

  3. I would love to hear how you quickly move your wallet items from a big tote to a small crossbody. I recently purchased a Lulu Everywhere Belt Bag to take to the gym. However, my wallet is too big to fit into it with readers, sunglasses and earbuds. I’d love some ideas on wallets and the logistics behind having what you need and swapping amongst purses.

    1. I don’t use a wallet in a belt bag like that. I have a cardholder I sometimes use if there isn’t one built in, or I just throw my license and essential credit card inside and go. My car key, a tissue pack, maybe a lipstick, done. There’s almost nothing in there, lol. My regular wallet isn’t that big. It’s about this size, so it works fine in the camera bag crossbody bags.

  4. So glad I saved this email to read tonight, I needed the pick me up. Hope you’re feeling better! What color is your baseball cap from Gap Factory? I don’t wear hats often, but I found myself needing (wanting) a casual one with no writing on it earlier this week.

  5. Hi, I’m wondering if you can share any info about the oatmeal Vince sweater that you couldn’t link because it’s old. I’d like to search for it on the resale market, but it’s hard without the name of the sweatband or maybe some other detail about it that would narrow the search. Thank you 🙂

      1. I really appreciate your reply, though I’m not sure that link is the same sweater. It seems to have a sharp and deeper V-neck versus the one I’m asking about. In your photo above, you say, “ I love the soothing oatmeal color and the rounded v-neck and relaxed fit, and how it has the perfect drape for a front tuck.“
