Resort Wear Round Up

It’s a balmy 30 degrees here in Philly this morning, which has me dreaming of a winter getaway to somewhere warm and sunny. While checking out the new arrivals at some of our favorite online retailers, I noticed some great resort wear options, so I thought I’d share them with you today!

One-piece swimsuits are still trending this season, which makes me happy. They’re so much easier than dealing with separates, and they don’t create any extra lumps and bumps through the midsection, the way tankini styles tend to do.

I found a few different necklines, including some one-shoulder and high neck options, and if you prefer the convenience of separates, I love this tankini/swim skirt combo.

Don’t forget to pack a stylish cover-up to wear over your swimsuit. A flowy pareo or a shirt dress are great options.

For dinners out while on vacation, maxi dresses and jumpsuits can be dressed up or down. Classic tees and tanks easily mix and match with shorts, pants, or joggers for daytime. And I always like to bring along a lightweight jacket for chilly nights or rainy days.

When it comes to footwear, pack a pair of comfortable sandals that you can wear all day long. Silver is trending this year! Sneakers may also come in handy if you plan on doing any outdoor activities or excursions. And then of course, you’ll want a few dressier shoe options for dinner, like these slide sandals.

Don’t forget a classy tote for carrying all your essentials to the beach or pool. I like to bring one that can lay flat in my suitcase, and of course it needs to be large enough to fit a beach towel, sunhat, sunscreen (you can find my favorites here), sunglasses, and a good book.

Whether you’re preparing for a tropical mid-winter trip or just getting an early start on your spring/summer wardrobe, I’ve got loads of shopping inspiration for you here!

  1. I enjoy your reading your blog everyday. I have a huge problem with pop ups in your emails. So many that sometimes I delete the post with out reading it. 🤣

    1. Donna I read all blogs on DuckDuckgo. There’s probably other browsers that block ads but the Duck works best for me. The ads drive me nuts.

    2. Hi Donna, I assume you are talking about the blog. There are no pop ups in my emails. The ads are annoying, I get it, but they do pay the bills and help me provide all the content I do for free. They can all be closed out. I would earn more if I turned off that function, but I want to be sure they can be closed so my content is accessible.

The email signup is not supposed to show after you are signed up, but it doesn’t always work well. I’m working on a blog redesign and I hope to have a smaller email signup on that one so it isn’t as obtrusive. I’m always working to improve the user experience, so I appreciate you sharing your observations. I will be tweaking ads and things on the new design, so stay tuned. 🙂

  2. This post is timely. We have snow on the ground here in Delaware and we just made plans to go to St. Kitts in May! We’re planning activities like snorkeling, zip-lining, and sailing, so I’m not sure there will be much lying beside the pool, but I’m already thinking about what clothes I’ll need. I plan to see what I have and make a list of what I’ll need. I find myself drawn to Tommy Bahama clothing. It’s a bit spendy for such simple pieces, but well-made and seems to fit me well. I’d love to see a post on what to pack for an “active” warm-weather getaway.

  3. I’m so glad you’re safely home! I think you left just in time to miss the looooong line of storms that started moving in (here in Louisiana) yesterday. We had to go fill some sand bags to put by our back patio door to be safe. Lots of (much needed, especially after our record breaking drought this past summer) rain, but lots of downpours which lend to flooding. It’s also upper 60°’s and low 70°’s! 😂 Gotta love Louisiana weather! Anyway, I’m glad you’re home and that you had a nice, relaxing time. I’m sure it was well deserved! I missed your emails, but I’m glad you took some time off! Have a great week!

    1. Yes, we got out of Austin in the nick of time! I felt terrible for the people arriving as we were leaving. It was supposed to rain for days. I hope you didn’t have any damage.

  4. We have gotten to the point in our lives where we can travel twice a year to Sandals. This year we are taking the adult kids to Beaches Turks & Caicos. I am finding that the two-piece tankinis work so much better, and the tradeoff of the bump in the middle is worth the price for the convenience.

I am eyeing the Tommy Bahama coverup you posted, as I am always looking for something that has pockets that I can put my phone in when I spend time strolling around the resort before breakfast. Still trying to find the perfect sandals to wear in the morning, as I always seem to get blisters from the straps.

    Have a great week!
