What I Wore Lately Vol. 75

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts! Last time, I shared What I Wore In Florida, and this post picks up where that one left off.

Dressing for this time of year is always a challenge, and we’ve had some really crappy weather since I got back from my trip, so I don’t know how helpful this will be, but this is what I wore over the past few weeks.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually take a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, and size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

What I Wore Lately

I didn’t do anything with myself the day after my trip, but the next day was a Saturday. I went for a walk/run and then showered and got dressed for the day in this cozy, casual look.

Treasure & Bond hoodie (S) // AGOLDE Toni (28; similar wash) // Veja sneakers (39) // similar pendant // Lagos ring // Madewell earrings

Paul and I went out to a casual dinner that night, on our way over to R’s indoor drumline competition. I could have stayed in what I had on, but I decided to switch into a nicer sweater so I ended up changing my shoes to coordinate with that.

Equipment sweater (S) // AGOLDE Toni (28; similar wash) // P448 sneakers (39) // similar pendant // Madewell earrings

I wore this next look that Monday to run to the mall for a few things. This sweater was a late winter purchase, and I’m so glad I grabbed it. It has all the warmth and coziness of a quality cashmere sweater, but the lavender gives a nod to spring. I’m really getting tired of neutrals!

My Gucci mules are discontinued in this taupe color, so I linked a similar pair at a much better price point; I really like that light oak color in the croc embossed leather.

Nordstrom Signature sweater (S) // Mother denim (29; similar option) // similar mules // similar pendant // Lagos ring // Madewell earrings

I had a workout and then a hair appointment the next day, where I freshened up my color and got about an inch chopped off the length. I wore my workout clothes all day, and I never took a picture.

This is what I wore the day after that for an overdue visit to my friendly GYN. #selfcareyay I got this sweatshirt with Trunk Club points; otherwise I wouldn’t have spent this much on a sweatshirt, but it is really plush and cozy, and I love the styling.

Rails pullover (S) // AGOLDE Toni (28; similar wash) // P448 sneakers (39) // similar pendant // Lagos ring // hoop earrings

The next morning, I met Alison for breakfast before picking C up at the airport, and it was extremely cold. I was feeling bored with my winter wardrobe, and this was my weak attempt to come up with something different. Mixing cognac and black is a little unexpected, right? Hey, I tried…

Vince sweater (S) // AG jeans c/o (28) // Marc Fisher boots (8) // AllSaints belt (M; similar option) // R Minkoff hobo // old Burberry jacket // YSL sunnies (similar for less) // similar pendant // Lagos ring // Madewell earrings

I threw on this old faithful outfit to take the girls to the mall. I used to love this one, but I admit, the skinny jeans are starting to look dated and not even that flattering. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve put on a little weight or because my eye is adjusting to straighter styles.

They also really annoyed me because they kept riding up on my calves, and I kept stopping so I could slip off my shoe and push them down with my foot.

Nordstrom Signature hoodie (S) // similar Good American jeans (6) // similar mules // similar 11mm pearl earrings

I came home and tried the AGOLDE Toni to see if the slightly straighter style looks better. It’s such a subtle difference, but I definitely like the proportions better. The Toni has a 27″ inseam with a 12 1/4″ leg opening, and the Good American skinnies have a 26 1/2″ inseam with a 10″ leg opening.

Nordstrom Signature hoodie (S) // AGOLDE Toni (28; similar wash) // similar mules // Lagos ring // similar 11mm pearl earrings

I wish the AGOLDE Toni came in a good black wash. The only pair I’ve found has a chewed up hem, and it got weird on me after I washed them so I finally passed them on. I have a lot of black jeans, but they’re all cut a little differently, and those subtle differences do matter when putting outfits together.

Speaking of which, I put on this outfit last Saturday to wear to visit Paul’s mom. These black jeans are the Fidelity Cher, which I love, but sometimes I feel like they make my legs look stumpy.

The Fidelity Cher has a 27″ inseam with a 13″ leg opening, compared to the AGOLDE Toni with the 27″ inseam and 12 1/4″ leg opening, and I think that extra 3/4″ in the leg opening makes a big difference.

Treasure & Bond top (S) // Fidelity denim (28) // AllSaints belt (M) // Vince Camuto mules c/o (7.5) // Kendra Scott earrings

Even though I like that look, I ended up switching into sneakers because I realized we’d be going straight over to R’s drumline competition after our visit with Paul’s mom. It’s always really cold walking from the parking lot to the gym, and I didn’t want to be climbing up bleachers in those mules, so I switched into my trusty old P448s.

This belt is a new addition, by the way. I wanted a black belt with gold hardware, and I found this when I was shopping at Nordstrom the day before.

The next day was Sunday, and I feel like all I ever wear to church this time of year is some shade of black denim and a pullover. I have a couple of sweater dresses, but they always seem overdressed for our very casual congregation, and I hate to wear blue jeans to church, so black jeans it is. And yes, I know I could wear white, but the weather has been really messy the past few Sundays, but maybe I’ll do that this week!

All that to say, I was looking through my collection of black jeans to decide what to wear, and I realized I hadn’t worn the Frame Le High Straight Crop in a while. These jeans have a 27″ inseam with a 14″ leg opening, so they’re even a little wider than the Fidelity Cher. I’ll show a side-by-side comparison below.

I automatically reached for this boatneck sweater and my favorite pumps because I already knew this outfit works.

Naadam sweater (S) // Frame denim (28) // Marc Fisher pumps (8) // Yurman earrings

I love that look, but it was a rainy day, so I swapped the suede pumps for my trusty loafer mules. I know boots would have made more sense, but I’m so over my black boots at this point. Have I mentioned yet how bored I am with my winter wardrobe?

Naadam sweater (S) // Frame denim (28) // Vince Camuto mules c/o (7.5) // Yurman earrings

While we’re discussing the various denim styles, here’s a side-by-side view of the ones I mentioned above for easy comparison.

Good American // AGOLDE // Fidelity // Frame

It would be easier to compare with the same shoes and tops, and it’s also hard to be consistent with the camera angle, but I think I like the two middle pairs the best. How about you?

After church, I wore this comfy Vuori outfit for the rest of the afternoon and to visit with a friend that evening.

Vuori crewneck (S) // Vuori wideleg pants (S) // On Cloud sneakers (8.5)

Monday was kind of a schlumpy day. I did a TRX workout that morning and never changed out of my gym clothes.

Then I wore this casual look to a doctor appointment last Tuesday. It was a mild day, so I broke out these boyfriend jeans from last summer. And this sweater is pretty lightweight so I usually only wear it in the spring and fall. It’s from the #NSale 2019, but you can find some on eBay.

Vince hoodie on eBay // 7FAM boyfriend jeans (28; similar wash) // P448 sneakers (39) // Kendra Scott earrings

We made last minute plans with friends for dinner that night, so I wanted to change into something a little nicer. I was running late so I threw this outfit to together real quick.

I was grumbling about how it was so bland, and C told me it looked great, it just needed a pretty necklace. I remembered that I liked this tiger eye stone necklace with a different camel v-neck sweater last year, so I threw it on, and voilà! Suddenly the outfit looked complete.

Equipment sweater (S) // Mother denim (29; option) // Vince Camuto mules (7.5) // WHBM necklace // Kendra Scott earrings

I threw on this cozy outfit to go to the mall (I chose the boots and skinnies becasue it was rainy/snowy) but then I realized I was going to be in that area the following day for a photo shoot, so I decided to wait and go to the mall then.

Nordstrom Signature sweater (S) // Good American jeans (6) // Blondo boots (8) // Yurman earrings // similar pendant // Lagos ring

I was feeling bloated and hormonal and not at all like wearing pants with a zipper, so I changed into my Vuori pants to work from home for the rest of the day. I kept the sweater on because it was comfortable, plus I had a Zoom meeting that afternoon.

Is this not the perfect WFH Zoom outfit?!? Business on top, leisure on the bottom!

But then that evening, a friend and her family decided to stop over and visit for a while after dinner, so…. I changed back into jeans and threw on some mules. LOL!

I had a photo shoot on Wednesday, but I never grabbed a picture of the outfit I wore afterwards. It was a full day. I went from the photo shoot to the mall to a mammogram appointment, and I picked up R from jazz band practice on my way home from that. By the time I got home, I didn’t even think about taking a picture of my outfit.

I wore this on Friday to run some errands. It was a mild afternoon, and I felt like pulling out one of my spring sweaters.

525 sweater c/o // Mother denim (29; similar option) // similar mules // Madewell earrings // Evereve necklace c/o // Victoria Emerson bracelet c/o

The mild weather was short-lived, and I woke up to blizzard-like conditions on Saturday. I did nothing to make myself look presentable, so there’s no photographic evidence of that.

Sunday was church, and it was a bright sunny day, but there was still a coating of snow on the ground. It’s weird to imagine that now, since we’re having such pretty spring weather this week.

I built this outfit from the ground up. I knew I wanted to wear my Sorels, and skinny jeans are the easiest style to pair with them. I’ve been linking to this pair when I wear the Good Legs Crop because mine sold out and these are the closest I can find to the off-black wash that I have. They’re on sale right now, by the way. Good American is doing 25% off with code SAVE25.

Once I had those jeans and boots on together, I decided to stick with an all-black look, and I topped it off with this shaker knit v-neck sweater. I like the mix of textures, and the proportions seem to work well together. This is such a good sweater, and I can’t believe it’s still on sale and fully stocked.

And what a difference a day makes! I woke up on Monday to spring-like temperatures, and I had lunch plans with a friend, so I decided to whip out this soft knit moto jacket.

Marrakech jacket c/o (S) // Michael Stars tank c/o (S) // Citizens jeans c/o (28) // Dolce Vita mules c/o (7.5) // necklace // earrings // Victoria Emerson bracelet c/o

I styled pretty much this exact outfit a few weeks ago with the ivory block heel slides, but it wasn’t quite warm enough for those so I wore my taupe suede braided mules. They also come in an ivory nubuck, which I think would look really good with this outfit.

I wasn’t sure about these jeans when I first got them, but I really do like the thick, vintage-style denim and the straighter fit. They’re still slim enough to work for me. And my tank is the Stucco color, which sold out, but white would work too.

Yesterday was another day spent in workout clothes, so I didn’t bother to get a picture, and that’s that! I’m so excited to start wearing more spring styles, now that our weather is warming up. It will also give me more opportunities for layering, so hopefully these posts will get a little more interesting!

  1. Wow! The 4 jeans outfits lined up is super helpful! Agree that the two middle are your best fit. If I had to pick just one it would be the AGOLDE.
I’m going to try on all my jeans this weekend and measure the leg openings. Getting rid of any that are stuck to my calves. (Except for maybe a couple for wearing tucked in with higher boots.) 😉
    Great post – Thanks!

  2. Isn’t it interesting how the eye can adjust to another silhouette? I rarely wear skinnies now. I wore a pair yesterday to run errands and found myself getting out of the car and using my foot to push the hems down as they catch on my calves.

  3. I went through the Flowdesk link and had many fewer issues. The weather has been all over the place here, too, but I am so excited about the spring-like weather this week!
When I first heard that skinnies were going out of style, I couldn’t even imagine it. Yes, the eye does adjust, and I will not buy any new ones, plus I am starting to replace them with the straight leg and the flare leg. I am actually excited to wear them this spring and summer. But thank you for pushing us along!

  4. Skinnies are looking dated, but I feel like we still need them to wear with the boots .. thats the only reason I’m holding onto them… BUT, being honest, I don’t wear winter boots that much.. lol.

  5. Its so good to know I’m not the only one who struggles to dress this time of year. I have to say you did great each day. I am home so much and not working, I tend to grab leggings or joggers. I don’t like wearing jeans just to hang around the house, but find then I never feel dressed. I’m on day 10 being home with a cold and headaches/migraines, so really dying to get dressed and get out soon. We are having cool, dark rainy days with occasional sun peeks, so very hard to dress as I’m like you very tired of my Winter clothes. I put them away and changed my closet over to Spring and Summer but have to wear Spring sweaters most the time. Its the shoes thats been the problem. I want to just wear sneakers and mules, tired of boots, but its soooo wet out. I love your what I wore post as you are so real when you tell us why you chose a certain outfit. (bloated and feeling hormonal) 🙂 Thanks for all the work you put into each post to give us all the details. I too like the 2 center jean line up comparisons the best. I thought I’d never say skinnies looked dated, but finally my eye too is adjusting, but I haven’t tossed any of my skinnies yet, as I don’t have enough of the other style jeans and with my body type, the skinnies really do look the best with certain tops and shoes. I live in a small town that isn’t very fashion forward, so most people don’t even know whats in or out. 🙂 LOL Thanks for pushing us out of our “skinnies” comfort zone. I need to go in store shopping and start trying on more straight cut crop. Last Saturday our mandatory mask mandate was lifted for Oregon and I haven’t been well to go out to test it out. 🙂 I decided to listen to the news last night and that was a mistake. They are talking how China and Europe are on a huge rise with the newest variant and how its going to affect us. I had to turn it off and not let it affect me as we just are feeling somewhat “normal.” I told my husband, they need to just shut off flights from Europe and China right now. Just my thought.

  6. I really like the black and cognac outfit. I think it’s unexpected so it’s a standout.
Skinnies look dated to my eye now. I no longer have any in my closet. I’ve replaced them with straight and straight cropped for spring.
Opening your posts seems hit or miss these days. When I can open one, like today’s, I go through the ones I missed. Strange that this should happen now when I’ve been following you for years.

  7. I really liked the 4 jeans picture. I was so surprised that my eye didn’t like the skinnies best. I actually liked the far right Frame jeans best. I jumped over strait jeans and went to flares. I also prefer darker washers so there is that. And my favorite rise is 10 inch.

  8. Can you help some on Good American sizing? I wear a 14 or 16 in Wit & Wisdom petite jeans. Wanted to try a GA petite but can’t decide on a 14 or 15. 16 measurements seem way too big. Thanks so much.

  9. I think the standout is the outfit with the Treasure and Bond sweater. It is one of my favorite colors and looks great on you!
I am ready for some color!

  10. I love reading your posts and am looking forward to Spring. We also live outside of Philadelphia and I am looking for suggestions for a Spring wedding which is in 2 weeks. I have a pretty color purple dress I am planning to wear if I can lose a few pounds or if not my standard black dress. It’s dressy but plain. Anyway, any suggestions for the color and style of shoes and how to accessorize with jewelry to dress up so that I look in style. I am in my late 40’s. Thanks so much!

  11. Jo-Lynne,I am really curious about why you dislike wearing blue jeans to church. The church I attend to(I’m Catholic)is very lax nowadays as regards people’s attire.Though modesty is required, of course. But I do see many women my age(I’m 46),younger or older wearing their blue jeans in a variety of styles. And I’m one of them, because black jeans are not my cup of tea.I used to own a pair when I was at high school, though.LOL.😂

    1. It just doesn’t feel right. It’s perfectly acceptable attire in my church, but I just grew up dressing for church, and I prefer to wear something a little nicer than everyday. 🙂
