What to Wear to a Spring Baby Shower

Sadly, this is the last set of my Florida pictures. I guess it’s time to go back!

This is a versatile spring outfit that can take you many places, but I polled our Facebook Group, and a lot of people suggested a baby shower or family birthday party.

LOFT sweater (size S; option) // Mother denim (size 29) // Dolce Vita mules // hoops c/o Evereve // Kendra Scott necklace // old Stella & Dot bracelet // Coach shoulder bag (also at Nordstrom) // rag & bone sunnies

I really like this look for a baby shower since this sweater comes in both pink and blue. You can wear the corresponding color, if you’re into that sort of thing.

This sweater is 100% cotton knit with a 23 1/2″ length that’s perfect for pairing with high rise pants, like these Mother Hustler ankle bootcut jeans.

While I’ve dubbed the Good American Good Straight my go-to white jeans for spring, I also really like this ankle bootcut style as another option.

I wore the grey version of these jeans a ton over the past fall and winter, so when I saw the white pair, I knew they needed a place in my closet.

I have the grey pair in a 28, but I sized up to a 29 in this white pair. I tried both, but the 28 was pulling a bit across the front of the hips, so I figured I could use a little more wiggle room. All that to say, you might want to size up if between. If in doubt, order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t work out.

Once again, I carried my Coach Tabby shoulder bag, but this time I wore these Dolce Vita block heel slides in the ivory pebbled leather. If you’re struggling with this style of pant, I recently wrote a post about what sandals to wear with bootcut jeans this spring.

I wasn’t sure about the ivory shoes with the white jeans, but for some reason I don’t love cognac with pink, so that eliminated the Vince Camuto wedges, and I was getting tired of styling those gold Sam Edelman sandals. Plus, I wanted something a little more casual and chunky to offset the chunky sweater. I think these actually work pretty well.

Here’s how the bag looks over the shoulder. It’s such a great little bag, and I’m really glad I happened across it at Nordstrom a few weeks ago. It wasn’t on my radar until I saw it in person.

I kept my accessories simple with these sequin hoop earrings from Evereve, a Kendra Scott layer necklace, and this old Stella & Dot cuff bracelet.

Other suggestions that came up for places to wear this outfit are women’s daytime church events, a Mother’s Day brunch, happy hour with girlfriends, and maybe even work, depending on the dress code.

It also makes a nice resort wear outfit for a casual dinner, which is what I had in mind when shooting this look at a resort in Florida. I love those gorgeous planters. I wish I could grow one of those at home!

As we get further into spring and summer, I’ll be styling more “What to Wear” posts. Let me know if you have any specific requests!

  1. Gorgeous pink sweater, looks really pretty on you, love the Coach bag, size is perfect and will go well with any outfit I think. Those planters are beautiful, flowers look so tropical and I am so ready to get some new plants, maybe just some pansies for now though.

      1. same here, I’ve got alberta spruce in my planters and would like to plant the pansies all around them in the planters.

  2. I attended a baby shower for a little boy a few weeks ago. I really wanted to wear my pink cashmere sweater…warm enough for the day yet a nod to Spring…but I thought I probably stick out like a sore thumb in a sea of blue.

I walked in and the first person I saw was my friend who is one of the Grandmothers…..wearing bright pink😂

  3. Great outfit! I’m so glad that you were able to get out in your neighborhood numerous times yesterday. I can’t wait to wear that sweater and I’m glad that I ordered it as soon as you shared it with us. Have a great day!

  4. This is my favorite spring color combo! I have worn this same outfit (different versions of course) for years…. its a classic!

  5. So pretty. I’m having hard time embracing color again. Been awhile. I get tired of my clothes sooner with color, but it’s time to add more to my closet. 🙂 I think we all need the boost it gives. So glad your snow melted. Time for sunshine. Have a great day.
