What I Wore Lately Vol. 78

Hi friends! These Wednesdays seem to roll around around faster and faster, don’t they? Today I’m rounding up my daily outfits from the past couple of weeks, or since we’ve been home from Florida.

The weather is still very back and forth over here, as it is in many parts of the country, so once again there are a lot of transition looks in here. What can you do? As I always say, this is real life I’m living here.

What I Wore Lately

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and usually wear a small in tops, but I’m in between a 28 and 29 in jeans. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

This first outfit is what I wore to church on Easter Sunday, the day after we got home from Florida. It was chilly and damp, and I struggled to come up with an outfit that seemed fitting for Easter but not too summery for our weather. I finally settled on this. The beige pumps are like 10 years old, but they still come in handy from time to time!

Even though it was quite chilly, I was warm enough with my LOFT trench, which made me very happy! I felt like I looked seasonally appropriate and was still comfortable for the unusually chilly weather.

After church, I changed into this comfy outfit for the rest of the day. We just grilled steaks here at home and took it easy.

I had a photo shoot the next day, and afterwards I put on this easy outfit to work from home.

Tuesday was yet another day spent mostly working here at home, and then my daughter and I drove down to visit Paul’s mom that evening. I pulled on the same jeans from the day before, but the weather was a little bit colder, so I wore this slightly heavier sweatshirt and my trusty P448 sneakers.

And Wednesday was more of the same. That was the day my Mother Hustlers came in the mail, and I was trying to decide if I wanted to keep them or not, so I threw them on with this sweater to see if they were the right size, and I ended up wearing them for most of the day.

I tried them with a few different shoes to make sure I liked them with flats as well as heels, but I guess I didn’t take any pictures except this one.

I also snapped this pic after my walk/run that morning. I figure workout clothes count here too. After all, I often spend half a day wearing them before I  shower and change into real clothes.

I had a mani/pedi on Thursday, and I threw on my Maine sweatshirt again, this time with crop flares so I could easily roll them up to soak my feet.

By the way, I went with OPI Cajun Shrimp this time. It’s so weird to see color on my nails after wearing white so much lately!

I wore this outfit last Friday to run to CVS for a few things, and I kept it on for most of the day. It wasn’t really THAT warm, but I was so excited to see the sun, I took advantage of the opportunity to wear sandals and a sleeveless top.

Paul and I made last minute dinner plans for that evening, and I considered wearing this same outfit with my Kork-Ease heels.

I couldn’t find a layering piece I liked with that outfit, though, and it wasn’t really warm enough for a sleeveless top that night. We were running late, so I just changed into this old standby.

I feel like I wear this outfit too much, but I wanted to wear closed toe shoes, and this jacket works so well with these clogs. Besides pumps, these clogs are the only heels with a closed toe that I really like right now. I refuse to wear booties; in fact, I packed them all away.

I also changed into my AG Mari jeans. The Mother Hustlers would have looked fine, but they were starting to cut into my waist, so I wanted to wear a slightly lower rise.

Does anyone else find that a certain rise of jeans can cause a stomach ache? I was much more comfortable in the AG jeans; I could tell the difference almost immediately.

The next day, I needed to go to the mall for a few things, and my daughter came along with me. She wanted the driving time, as she’s trying to accrue the 60 hours she needs to test for her driver’s license. #holdme

This jacket is the same as the one I wore in Monday’s post, but it’s a size larger and obviously a different color. I usually prefer it with a white tee underneath, but my lighter colored bra was in the wash, so I wore the grey tee instead.

Yes, I only have 2 bras right now. Most women find that alarming, lol! I don’t figure I need more than two — one to wear and one to wash. But one is too dark to wear under white tops.

That night, we had an outdoor school-related event to attend. I probably could should have worn what I had on, but I kind of wanted a pullover so I could add a jacket on top if it got cold later in the evening.

I’ve packed away all my winter sweaters, a sweatshirt seemed too casual, and I was tired of the 525 cable sweater, so I pulled out this Everlane cotton v-neck that I’ve had for a few years. I always wear it a lot in the springtime.

The ivory loafer mules seemed rather bland with a grey sweater, so I switched into these Tory Burch Minnie travel flats that are also a few years old. If this outfit looks familiar, I used to wear these shoes a lot with this grey sweater and my AG Farrah skinnies in a similar wash.

I feel like the Mother Dazzlers bring the outfit up to date… or close enough, anyway. I don’t wear ballet flats very often these days, but I love these, and I feel like they’re a classic at this point.

Also, I wore these Sheec ultra low no show socks, and they worked great! You can’t see them, and they did not slide off, all night long. I wore them mainly to protect my  pedicure, but I also appreciated how comfortable they are. Maybe I’ll become a sock-wearer yet!

Sunday was the warmest day we’ve had here in a while, and I really wanted to wear a spring outfit, but it felt early for sandals, even though it’s the end of April. I tried on a bunch of different shoes, both open and closed.

The brown Kork-Ease heels seemed to dark and heavy, the linen loafer mules seemed to casual and not feminine enough with the floral blouse. The braided slides seemed to summery, and they accentuate how lily white my feet are.

The silver wedges are several years old, and I’ve always loved them with white jeans, so they were my favorites of the lot, but I ended up putting back on the Tory Burch ballet flats from the day before. They work okay with this outfit, but they’re kind of casual.

I came downstairs wearing the ballet flats, but when I saw that my daughter was wearing sandals, I told her I would too and changed back to the silver wedges.

I was annoyed by the silver hardware on the jacket with the gold hardware on the blouse, but I didn’t want that to be a deal breaker, so I threw on a bunch of mixed metal jewelry.

Unfortunately, the Madewell necklace set is sold out. It’s always my go-to when I’m wearing both gold and silver metals in my outfit. The Stella & Dot cuff is old as well, but they usually have some on eBay.

And that brings us to Monday. I broke out one of my favorite spring outfits, going on four seasons now. I got these pants back in April of 2019.

I wore this to run some errands, and otherwise, I was just at home. I swapped the denim jacket for my Pranayama Wrap for the evening.

And I took this pic that morning when I got back from my walk/run because these leggings are really good, if you need workout leggings. They have a comfortable, high waist that doesn’t slide down when I run; and they’re nice and thick and very flattering.

Yesterday, I wore this simple t-shirt and jeans. I picked up a few of these ATM tees in other colors when I found them on sale at Saks Off Fifth. Size up, if ordering.

I was pretty chilly wearing that, so I ended up putting my Pranayama Wrap on top.

And that’s it for this week! Or the past 10 days, I guess. It is verrrrry gradually warming up here over the next week or so.

We should have highs in the 60s most days, so I’m hoping to start wearing more of my cute tops and sandals! Meanwhile, I sure am glad for clogs and loafer mules to get through this in between season.

  1. Highs in the 60’s sounds wonderful! We have already had a day with 90 as the high, and this weekend we will have summer heat and humidity, when it’s not even summer yet. I need to wear my clogs! Yes, some of my jeans make my belly hurt, but I know it’s due to all of the scar tissue I have inside that area. That’s why I wear joggers or something similar most days. I really like the top you wore last Sunday. What day next week is your surgery? Have a fabulous day!

  2. They’re all such lovely combinations you look great in! I tend to mix-and-match leggings outfits moreso than denim in warmer weather (just because denim, for me, can feel like a sweltering oven when you’re TRYING to lose extra weight — ugghh!). LOVE that monochrome b&w look with the white windbreaker and black stretch pants (and the purple sneakers add such a cute flair!). The Sweaty Betty next-to-last combination is the kind of warm weather outfit, though, I’m often pairing a moto jacket or an oversized sweater with.

Completely agree about being thrifty with bras! The average pricing of one of them is nearly $45. I mean: stocking up on, say, JUST four bras (from a label you’ve had good luck with the fit and quality of) can cost almost $200(!) thesedays. IT. IS. INSANE. I figure(?): I might as well just buy full-fledged shapewear for that level of money to at least add some benefit to the rest of me (lol!). I think the Spanx knockoff Target carries (called “Assets”) is decent quality-for-value.

    1. LOL, the Sweaty Betty wasn’t meant to be an outfit, I was just sharing what I wore to exercise b/c people are often looking for activewear recommendations. 🙂

And yeah, the price of bras is insane, but I’ve been wearing DD or DDD since high school so I’ve always paid a lot to get decent support. That’s another reason I don’t have a lot of them. I’d rather allocate those funds towards something people actually see.

  3. I’m enjoying your blog very much. Your style is elevated yet down to earth. I noticed your bag in the last outfit with the Paige joggers, but you didn’t mention it.

  4. HAHA, I had to giggle at your comment about not finding a layering piece to go with that sleeveless top and jeans! (in my mind’s eye, I could think of MANY of your jackets to go with that outfit!!). And only two bras?? (you will probably enjoy replacing them, and buying more after your surgery!). I am in the process of changing my wardrobe over, and still am holding on to warmer fleeces and sweaters! I know it will warm up sometime and the dogwoods are finally in bloom!

    1. Yeah, it’s b/c I only have one style that I like, so there’s no need to have more than 2 or 3. Bras are not fun for me. They’re entirely utilitarian. I used to have 3 to rotate, 2 nude and a black, but then I got bigger and needed to size up and only bought 2 of my new size. I’ve been making do b/c of this surgery. 🙂

  5. I always love these posts. They give me ideas of how I can style my own clothing differently. I wanted to mention that I love toe socks to wear with some of my shoes (primarily my slip-on Naturalizer Marianne sneakers. For some reason, these shoes bug my toes when I wear them with bare feet. I often detest no-show socks because they can slip, so when I ran across Mabua toe socks on Amazon, I bought a package to try. I LOVE THEM!!! They protect my toes from rubbing & don’t slip at all. In fact, I can’t tell I’m wearing them! If anyone else has issues with shoes rubbing their toes the wrong way, get toe socks!!

  6. I like the side-by-side comparisons. I especially like the 1st and 4th shoes with that outfit.

I just counted—I have 19 bras! Different colors and styles, and some bras are work bras—for some reason I do it that way; work stuff is for work. I buy quality bras but wait for them to go on clearance. I won’t pay full price.

  7. I love the trench coat with your Easter outfit. The blue sweater looks real good on you. I also love the green denim jacket you wore in an earlier post. It’s no longer available. I’m keeping an eye for a discount on the mustard denim one you wore last week.

I wish you the best on your surgery. Praying everything will go well for you and speedy recovery.

  8. Any pair of high waisted pants I wear hurts my stomach by mid day. So I have to wear mid or low rise. I really love that pink jacket btw!
