Hi friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately, and since we just got back from 10 days in Florida, I’m sharing what I wore while we were away. Also, in case you missed it, I shared everything I packed last week. (Hint: I did not wear everything I packed! It was a lot.)

We flew into Jacksonville and stayed in Ponte Vedra Beach for the first part of our trip, with a day spent exploring St. Augustine. Then we wrapped things up with a few relaxing days on Amelia Island. If you’ve got a warm-weather trip coming up, I hope this gives you a little spring outfit inspo!
Spring Outfits for a Florida Getaway
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Traveling from Philly to Jacksonville is an easy direct flight, and I wore these featherweight olive green cargo pants and a black and white striped tank with a black utility jacket. In retrospect, I should have left the black jacket at home and gone with my white hoodie or the beige Camp Jacket instead. The black didn’t really complement most of the other pieces in my travel capsule, and even when it technically worked, I found myself reaching for lighter colors.
Otherwise, it turned out to be the perfect travel outfit. I wore the tank and pants (with flip flops) almost every morning to go down and work in the common area of our resort, and wearing my running sneakers helped keep my bulkiest shoes out of my suitcase. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up wearing them in Florida… but I’m getting ahead of myself!

After we arrived and got settled into our room, I swapped the pants and sneakers for white shorts and flip flops. Then Paul and I headed out to explore the resort and take our first walk on the beach!

We ate dinner at a restaurant in our resort that overlooks the ocean. I changed into white pants and a cute top for the evening. It was a warm night, but I brought a jacket along, just in case it got chilly inside.
Side note: These white jeans are sooo soft and comfortable, and they’re on sale right now at Bloomingdale’s!
Also, the rattan earrings I’m wearing are from a boutique in Sarasota, so I can’t link them. But I love how they complement the light neutral tones in the outfit and add to the beachy vibe.

I declared our first full day in Ponte Vedra a Pool Day, but I had a bit of work to do that morning, so I took my laptop down to one of the common areas overlooking the ocean. Once I wrapped that up, we spent the rest of the day by the pool. I only brought one cover-up with me, so you’ll be seeing this one a few times!

I changed into this casual outfit for dinner that night at a local BBQ spot overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. It was still quite warm, so I went with white shorts and this bright pink top, and kept it relaxed and comfortable with sneakers.
As an aside, this NAGHEDI woven hobo turned out to be a great last-minute addition to my travel capsule—and it’s currently on sale! I carried it a lot during the trip because it holds more than the rattan shoulder bag I brought, and I don’t have to be as precious with it. It folds flat, or you can roll or fold it, so it didn’t take up much extra space in my suitcase.

The next day, Paul and I drove into St. Augustine and did some of the typical touristy stuff. It wasn’t as warm that day, so I wore cropped blue jeans. I added a bright coral muscle tee and topped it off with my new EVEREVE Camp Jacket in the Sand color. I’m so glad I grabbed that jacket during a spontaneous mall trip the day before we left—it ended up being the perfect elevated topper for so many of my outfits on this trip.
I opted for my VEJA sneakers to keep it casual and comfortable for a day with lots of walking, and I like how the “Sable” accents tie in with the light beige jacket and taupe shoulder bag. I finished the outfit with a coordinating belt and bold silver earrings.

After working in the lobby for a bit the next morning, I drove over to a nearby coffee shop to meet up with Sydney for our weekly meeting. I threw on the same jeans but paired them with a breezy, textured linen-blend button-up with a flowy fit and rolled dolman sleeves. I finished the look with brown slides for a bit of contrast. I love this outfit—it feels elevated yet relaxed, and just right for a casual coffee meeting.

Paul and I headed back down to the pool for a few hours that afternoon. I have no idea why we didn’t get any outdoor photos of my poolside looks—I guess I was just eager to get down there and relax!

We met up with Cyndi and Wayne for dinner that night at a seafood restaurant on the water, and I kept it casual once again in my blue jeans and a graphic tee. This time, I brought my white hoodie as a topper for when it got chilly.

The next day, we drove back to St. Augustine for lunch. Our travel advisor happens to live in Jacksonville, so we decided to meet up! (She planned our family trip to Italy a couple years ago, and now we’re working with her again to plan a trip to Iceland and Scotland this fall.)
I wanted to look nice but still be able to walk a few blocks comfortably. It wasn’t super warm that day, so I didn’t feel like wearing a dress. I ended up back in my white jeans and that cloth & stone Stripe Square Neck Tank. I debated wearing a denim jacket, but I went with the EVEREVE Camp Jacket in Sand instead. I like how it keeps the whole look light and neutral—it feels more modern to me. I added a belt to complete the look.

Before we knew it, it was time to leave Ponte Vedra and head up the coast to Amelia Island for the second leg of our trip. Since check-in at the next resort wasn’t until later in the day, I wore a cropped button-up shirt and shorts over my swimsuit and packed my straw tote so we could head straight to the pool.

That night, I actually wore a dress to dinner! I bought this one several weeks ago with this trip in mind, so I was glad to finally have a reason to wear it. I love how the brown slides and rattan bag tie into the brown contrast stitching on the ivory dress, and I added large wood statement earrings to pull it all together.

We started out by the pool the next day, but when it got windy and clouded over, we decided to drive over and explore downtown Fernandina Beach instead. I threw on blue jeans and sneakers with this washed black t-shirt, and brought my white hoodie along in case I got cold by the water.
As you can see, I really didn’t need to bring so many tops—but since I had the options, I figured I might as well change it up!

Gap Factory hoodie (S) // EVEREVE Teddy Washed V Neck Tee (M) // MOTHER jeans (29) // VEJA sneakers (39) // NAGHEDI hobo // Celine sunnies
The next day turned out to be a perfect pool day—bright and sunny with not a cloud in the sky. Since it was also our last full day in Florida, we made the most of it! We grabbed coffee and muffins at the coffee shop and headed out early to claim our lounge chairs. We spent the entire day pool-side, reading and napping, and this is the only photo I took. Clearly I was too relaxed to worry about getting a proper outfit shot!

We finally came back up to our room around 5 o’clock to shower and change for dinner. I wore that bright pink muscle tee again, this time with my white jeans. And since it was a chilly evening, I topped it off with a denim jacket.
This one is the KUT from the Kloth Lana Two Pocket Jacket—it has a cropped silhouette, oversized chest pockets, and a raw hem that gives it a modern twist on the classic spring topper.

Our flight to Philly wasn’t scheduled to leave Jacksonville until later in the afternoon the next day, so we spent a couple more hours by the pool that morning and had lunch there before heading out. I wore my swimsuit under this tank top and shorts, and I brought my travel pants and the necessary undergarments to change into before we left for the airport.

Gap Factory hoodie (S) // Sea Level swimsuit in Khaki (10) // Z Supply tank (M) // Vineyard Vines shorts (8) // beek flip flops (8) // NAGHEDI hobo
And this was what I wore to travel home. As you can see, that black utility jacket I wore on the flight down ended up being totally unnecessary—although I still love how it leveled up the look. I never even unpacked the packing cube it was in while we were on Amelia Island, so I just threw on my white hoodie to head home instead. It worked fine with the running shoes… which I also didn’t end up needing (along with the workout clothes I packed).
I didn’t go to the gym even once on this trip, and it’s not like we did much walking most days either. I could definitely feel it by the end of our time in Florida. All of my pants were tight, and I just didn’t feel great. Lesson learned! I need to be more disciplined about exercise when I travel for extended periods of time.

That said, it was still an amazing trip. Paul and I loved exploring some new areas, and we had plenty of time to relax, read, and enjoy each other’s company. I’m already scheming our next getaway.
Thanks for following along. I hope this gives you a few outfit ideas if you’ve got a spring getaway coming up!

Such a nice trip! We started going to warmer weather for 10-12 days last year and it’s a great way to break up the long winter. Where did you stay on Amelia Island? We’ve stayed at the Elizabeth Pointe Inn. It’s a wonderful B&B right on the beach at the very end of the island but close to the downtown shopping area. Next time we may want more of a resort with pool and amenities though.
We splurged on the Ritz with Bonvoy Points. It was amazing!
Gorgeous pics, love Florida !
As you mentioned an upcoming trip to Scotland, I have a rec. – The Witchery Restaurant in Edinburgh. https://www.thewitchery.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=local&utm_campaign=hotel-witcherybythecastle
It’s on “the Royal Mile” just down from the castle, which you’ll surely tour. We brought our boys there this January and this spot for dinner was one of their favorites!
And if you can fit in a jeep tour of the Highlands, amazing !

Thank you!!!
Your posts are so helpful jolynne! Makes me consider things I wouldn’t normally look at. I bought the rails dress and it’s gorgeous! Also the athleta pants are fab! I stopped packing workout gear for warm trips after many times of not wearing it and it taking up so much room in my suitcase. Instead I
focus on swimming laps for my exercise while I’m away. It’s a great upper and lower body workout Stops me from feeling that vacation bloat that I’ve had many times!
“Vacation bloat”! That made me giggle, and it’s so so true, we all understand! I just try to power walk (as opposed to strolling!) a lot on a beach vacation, especially on the sand. I tend to completely overpack, and end up wearing my denim shorts and tanks almost every day! A beachy skirt/dress is great in the evenings! And I tend to pack more hats than purses or shoes. Love my hats! Great post, Jo-Lynne!
So glad you love the Rails dress! It’s a good one.
I don’t push myself for exercise on vacation either, especially beach trips as I tend to focus much more on catching up on rest! But I like your suggestion! I’d add that walking on the sand, even barefoot can be a good leg muscle workout. Throw a couple light handheld weights in and it’s an easy and relaxing workout.
When I travel I try to limit myself to 3 pair of shoes, so typically 1 pair of tennis/sneakers. I see you brought both on cloud and VEJAS. Do you ever wear your on clouds with jeans, or just workout and shorts? I love my on clouds and tend to wear those on trips for walking, but not sure how I feel about them with jeans? What are your thoughts?
No, not usually. I prefer more of a fashion sneaker with my jeans. If I was really trying to go light and do carry-on only, I would have just worn the On Cloud. Or if I had realized I wasn’t gonna exercise I would’ve just worn the VEJA, lol. But I’m also prone to injury and have a couple of bad ankles so I just like knowing that I have a good pair of really supportive sneakers if I ended up needing them.
I get my grown children an Easter card & put a nice gift card in it & I also get them a small chocolate bunny.
Love these type post. So good to hear about your trip and you do so well packing. Love the looks. I’m an overpacker. I’d assume I’d only wear my white pants once and get them dirty. lol
Your Fall trip sounds amazing. Scotland would be a dream. My daughter and husband liked Iceland too but she almost starved to death as it’s hard to go with allergies she said. She’s the one with celiac but just figuring it all out back then.
Always love your travel posts!
Also loving Cyndi’s flowered skirt/Palazzolo pants!
Any info on those?
-Janet
Janet go to Cyndi Spiveys website and she has link to those floral flowy pants. Infact her post today is on all types of those kind of pants. Lots of options.
I love this try-on haul. I know it’s hard work, but it’s my favorite part of your blog. Especially when you tell us where you wore them. How does Paul keep up with you? You have so much energy. I love all of your sleeveless shirts. I remember the time I could wear them. Seems like under my arms and my back is the first place I gain my weight and also the breasts. Oh my!! I hope you have a nice visit with your girls and I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. 💜
I have several pairs of Brooklyn pants and Venice joggers from Athleta. I am seriously considering a pair of Brooklyn Heights cargo pants for a couple of trips this summer that will have long travel days. What are your thoughts on them? I thought they mights be more comfortable and a liitle heavier which could be good for long flights.
I love them!!!
Hi Jo-Lynne!
Wonderful outfit roundup and good for the weather I will soon have here in California. My quick question is, I tried on the white Gap hoodie in store over a black T shirt and was instantly covered in white lint. Does it stop transferring lint after washing? I would want to wear it with more than just white shirts underneath, and I see that you wore it with a black T on your trip, so I’m thinking it must stop but just making sure.
Thanks for all you do!
Shawna
Yeah I guess it did get better after I washed it. I’ve worn it a lot but usually over lighter tops I guess?
Great post! I’m glad that you and Paul are enjoying your couples time. And I’d say that the international travel bug has taken hold of you. I have been wondering if Paul is joining you on the May trip to the UK.
Looks like a fun and relaxing getaway! Glad Paul was able to come with you and that yall were able to stay for such a long time!
I love your style of elevating relaxed “doable” outfits! Do you have any tips for mixing materials of jewelry? I noticed in one outfit above you had bold wooden earrings mixed with a gold/silver necklace. I have trouble figuring out how to mix jewelry like this.
I just throw them in and see if I like it. A good rule of thumb is if the earrings are more a statement piece, the necklace should be more of a supporting player.
Can you please do some blogs on your nail care? Your nails are always so marvelous and well kept!
