What I Wore: White Neutrals

Welcome back to my 27 Days of Spring Fashion with Cyndi Spivey! Today is Day 9, and I’m styling the striped relaxed tunic that I showed last week with mint skinnies and wedge sandals. This time I’m wearing it with white jeans and nude ballet flats.

Spring Fashion for Women Over 40: White Neturals

I love how versatile this sweater is. It looks great with white jeans, dark jeans, colored jeans, and it would be cute with grey or khaki pants as well. The light color palette and weight of the sweater make it perfect for springtime, but the long sleeves make it warm enough for the chillier days.

And also, it is 40% off the sale price, which brings it down to $26.99!!!

The jeans are the DL1961 Florence skinny jeans in Milk. They are more traditional skinny jeans and obviously have no rips and tears. If you are in the market for a classic white skinny jean that is not see-through and should last you for years, the Florence is it.

They have a comfortable 9-inch rise, and a 30-inch inseam, and they run true to size. I’m wearing a 29. The Instasculpt technology helps shape the butt and legs, they are super comfortable and stretchy, but they never bag out. They are currently full price, but I’ll give you a heads-up when I see them on sale again.

I accessorized with neutrals — my Felicia Flats in Classic Nude Leather and the Rebecca Minkoff Lexi Bucket Bag in Cuicio from last season.

I got my bag on a great clearance sale, and it is only available now on Amazon.com for full price. I’m not quite sure how they manage to do that. I’ve found quite a few pieces that I bought on an end of season sale last year now on Amazon for full price.

By the way, Macy’s is running a HUGE Extra 25% off sale right now, and they have some gorgeous designer handbags included. Dooney & Bourke, Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and many others are included in the Extra 25% off, and many are already marked down — like this Michael Kors Greenwich Medium Bucket Bag. It’s marked down to $188, and then you can take 25% off that with the code VIP, bringing it down to $150. It comes in white, steel blue, coral and black.

And I’ve had my eye on this Michael Kors Fulton Shoulder Bag for ages. It’s still listed at full price, but the 25% off makes a serious dent in the grand total. There are so many to choose from, if you’ve been wanting to update your handbag for spring, this is a great time to do it. Plus Macy’s has free shipping and free returns on purchases over $99.

But I digress…

Anyway, here are a few more shots we took of this outfit one Saturday morning last month. We grabbed some coffee and took a few pictures while we waited for my older daughter to finish up her dance class.

  1. I’m glad you got great news from your doctor!! I love how you styled your neutrals, and your nude flats are super cute. Love, love this outfit!! The Loft is really having a great sale.

  2. Love it-we’re on the same fashion page!! I wore my white skinny jeans with nude ballet flats yesterday! xx-Shan

  3. Awesome news from the doctor! I’m so HAPPY for you! I am going to look in my closet to make sure I need the sweater, then order it if I can justify it. My favorite photo is the one of you and your daughter. Very special! Question: At what age should females cover their backside when wearing leggings/exercise pants out & about? My 16 yr. old granddaughter wears them to school some, but doesn’t keep her backside covered. Thanks!

    Have a blessed day!

    1. That’s a good question. I see a lot of teenagers wearing them that way, and I’m not a fan, but I can’t say whether or not I’d choose that battle to fight. Fortunately, my 13-year-old has no desire to wear her stretch pants anywhere but dance class. She loves her jeans like her mama! 🙂

My 10-year-old is very sensitive about the way clothes feel, and she can’t tolerate jeans. She used to wear the stretchy ponte pants every day, and they at least had pockets on the bum, but now I can’t find them anymore with adjustable waist, and she wants her pants cinched tight. It’s tiresome. LOL! So leggings it is.

Her sister is mortified and implores me to ban them unless she wears a long top (we can’t find many) but I think it’s fine on a 10-year-old. I’m glad summer’s coming because she is happy to wear shorts, even jean shorts (go figure!) Next winter we will have to revisit the issue. 🙂

  4. I absolutely love how clean and crisp this outfit is. However, it would not work for me at all, because, let’s be truthful here: I am a slop most of the time. Especially when I am drinking my coffee. But it still is a very nice outfit, and one I would consider if no food is involved!

  5. So pretty! Perfect outfit for spring. I love white jeans, and love how you paired them up with neutrals for a chic look.

  6. Love the outfit, love the blog, but I’m not getting your emails every day (didn’t today). Is that a glitch on my end?

    1. Oh no! That’s tragic. Ha!! 🙂 Maybe check your spam? Sometimes my emails get caught in spam filters because people mark them as spam wen they don’t want them anymore instead of unsubscribing… don’t get me STARTED on how aggravated that makes me. 🙁 I checked and your address is in MadMimi as active and getting Daily Emails.

  7. So jealous! With 3 retrievers and 3 horses I get to wear white for about 10 minutes tops. Never fails that doggie-dogs want to tackle Mommy or a horse suddenly sneezes across the fence. Yea, I know it’s all washable but it’d be great if I could wear longer. Regardless, it’s a great combo and you are beautiful in it.

  8. Love, love, love! Ordered the tunic and mint skinnies from the earlier post, now another great look with the same tunic, it’s a two-fer! Can’t wait to wear both great looks!
