Winter Fashion Try-On Haul: Evereve, Amazon & Nordstrom

Happy Friday, friends! I have a new try-on haul today with some Nordstrom closet staples, new spring arrivals from Evereve (also on sale!) and a couple of random Amazon Fashion finds.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ with an hourglass shape, and I usually take a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, and size 8 shoe. I linked the sizes I’m wearing beneath the pictures. And by way of disclosure, gifted items are indicated by c/o. That means a company sent it to me; everything else I purchased myself.

Nordstrom Finds + New To Me Denim

This is a random assortment of recent Nordstrom orders, including a new denim brand! Also, Zella is 20% off through Monday, 1/17.

Fidelity Denim Cher High Waist Ankle Slim Jeans (Nova Black)

jeans // sweater // sneakers

Fidelity Denim is a new-to-me denim brand I’ve been wanting to try. They’re made in Los Angeles, with premium Japanese and Italian denim, and this slim straight pair in the washed black caught my eye.

They have an 11″ front rise and a 27″ inseam with a 13″ leg opening, but the rise doesn’t really feel 11″ to me; I tend to prefer 10″ – 10 1/2″ and these are very comfortable. You can see how it looks here.

I really like this silhouette, and the fit and feel of the denim. It’s on the heavier side, with enough stretch to be comfortable, but they have really good shape retention. The material is 81% cotton, 11% lyocell, 6% elastomultiester, 2% elastane.

I decided to play around with them a bit. They definitely work with my trusty P448 John sneakers.

They also work pretty well with these Vince Camuto booties. I was afraid they would buckle in an awkward way, but they just sit right on top. I also like how the camel sweater and boots match and bookend this simple look. Obviously, it could use some jewelry to jazz it up a bit, and my plaid coat would look great on top.

I also tried these Fidelity Denim jeans with the Paige Lia booties and my ATM cheetah print tee. I thought these booties had a slightly over shaft than the Vince Camuto pair above, but they look to be about the same. The jeans just meet the top of the bootie, but it doesn’t bug me this way.

I love this outfit topped off with the Caslon hooded moto jacket, for fall and mild winter weather. It could use a belt, though.

I also tried them with the Marc Fisherpumps and Naadam cashmere boatneck. I often do this look with the Frame Le High Straight Leg Jeans, but it works with these too. The finished hem looks a little more elevated than the raw, I think, even though this wash is more of a faded black.

VERDICT: I think I’m keeping these. I’ve been wanting a straighter style of black jeans with a finished hem and no distressing. They’re going to replace the washed black AGOLDE Tonis that I don’t reach for much because I don’t care for the wash and the torn up hems.

In fact, now that I think about it, they could have gone in that regrettable purchases post. I thought I loved them when I bought them, but they usually seemed too rugged when I tried to wear them with other items in my closet, and I prefer a higher rise.

Frame Le High Raw Hem Crop Straight Leg Jeans

jeans (28) // sweater (S) // pumps (8)

You’ve seen these before, but i’m throwing them in here because I just noticed they’re on sale for 40% off off!. These are a lighter weight denim, and with the raw hem and crop length, I found myself wearing the more in the fall, but I still wear them on milder winter days.

Actually, they call them crop but they inseam is 27″, just like the Fidelity Denim pair. They have a slightly wider leg opening, at 14″ as opposed to 13″, and the rise is 10 1/2″ high. These are really good jeans, highly recommend — especially at 40% off.

Nordstrom Cashmere Turtleneck

sweater (M) // jeans (28) // sneakers (39)

I ordered this sweater for a post I have coming up with Nordstrom. I often link to it as a similar version to an older one I have, but I think it’s helpful to see the exact color and fit. This is the medium because they were out of the size small. I kind of like the oversize fit, but of course I would front-tuck it.

The fabric is very soft, on the lightweight side for cashmere, but not in a bad way. This sweater is a very good value, well worth the sale price in any of the classic colors.

VERDICT: I don’t need this, so I left the tags on and will likely return it. But if you need one, this is a great price for the quality.

AllSaints Emelyn Budon Women’s T-Shirt

t-shirt (S) // jeans (29) // sneakers (39)

I have this tee in the grey marl, and I love it, so I was super excited when I happened across this acid washed black version. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the same as my grey one. It seems smaller, which is okay right now, but I’m afraid it would be too tight once I wash it, and I prefer a little more drape anyway.

Other than the sizing issue, I love it. The material is soft but with a decent weight to it, and the rolled edges are a nice, subtle detail. Plus, it’s hard to find good v-neck t-shirts these days. So many are crewnecks right now, and the v-neck is more flattering on my body type.

VERDICT: Returning, but I was just able to nab it in the medium! The sizes are going in and out of stock, so if they don’t have the one you want, keep an eye on it.

Nordstrom Everyday Open Front Cardigan

cardigan (S) // blouse (S) // pants (M) // pumps (8)

I ordered this cardigan in two colors — black and this grey, which looks more periwinkle to me. It’s a nice basic, if you need that, good for work wear. My biggest issue with cardigans is how they slide off to the side of my boobage. LOL!

I tried it with a t-shirt, and it’s a little better because the cotton provides more friction than the silky tank, but I would wear this cardigan with tanks and blouses for dressier looks.  I really wanted a black one anyway, so I sent this back. That said, if you’re smaller chested and don’t have this issue, it’s a nice cardigan. I like the straight cut and the relaxed pockets.

VERDICT: Returning, but I might play around some with the black. Maybe the issue of the front won’t be as noticeable with a darker color.

Zella Barely Flare Live in High Waist Pants

pants (6) // sweatshirt (S) // sneakers (8.5)

I ordered these because I like my Vuori Halo Wideleg Pants so much, and I was hoping these would have a similar fit at a lower price point. I didn’t check the inseam measurement (33″) though. Wow, they are LONG! Otherwise, they’re a nice fabric and very comfortable. Definitely more of a flare than a wide leg pant, though.

VERDICT: Returning, too long, and I don’t care for the exaggerated flare. That said, if you’re tall and you like a flare, these are good pants, and they’re 20% off through Monday, 1/17.

Alo Airbrush High Waist Flare Pants

pants (S) // sweatshirt (S) // sneakers (8.5)

These are another option. I don’t know that the fabric feels that much nicer than the Zella flares, but I like the shape of this Alo pair better because the leg opening isn’t as wide. Unfortunately, they’re still suuuuper long on me, and they’re actually more expensive than the Vuori, so they’re going back.

VERDICT: Returning, I don’t like them enough to hem them. I’ll just get the Vuori, if I decide I want a black pair. But again, if you’re tall, these are really good pants. The waistband is soft and comfortable, and they have a very flattering fit.

Evereve 2022 Kickoff Sale Picks

Evereve is having a rare sale! Being a smaller boutique retailer, they only do 10% off, but this sale is on all new arrivals, with only a few exclusions (Birkenstock, Commando, New Balance, Spanx, Vuori). Also, shipping is free over $50; plus all shoes have a $5.50 shipping and handling fee attached.

PRO TIPS: It’s hard to find a good selection of fully stocked P448 sneakers on sale, and even with the $5.50 shipping fee, you’re saving a bit with the 10% off. Also, Marrakech jackets always sell out within the first few weeks. They’re pricey, but 10% off helps. I find them to be consistently true to size and very good quality.

Marrakech Lange Jacket

jacket c/o (S) // tank c/o (S) // jeans c/o (28) // shoes c/o (7.5)

As an Evereve Ambassador, I get to pick out three outfits each month from their new arrivals in exchange for sharing them with you. I’ve had my eye on this jacket for a few weeks so it was the first thing I requested. It has that subtle moto vibe that I love, but the soft fabric makes it more versatile than a suede or leather jacket. It also comes in this “natural” color. It was a touch decision, but I chose the charcoal, which I also like a lot.

I have a few Marrakech jackets from them already, and I love them all, but I thought was a bit odd that this one isn’t lined for the price point. That said, the material is so nice and soft, and it probably wouldn’t have such a good drape if it was lined. Definitely not a deal breaker, but I wanted to give you a heads-up because I know some people are particular about that.

VERDICT: Totally keeping this one! Also love the tank underneath. It’s the Stucco color, which is a nice cool-toned off-white.

Citizens of Humanity Jolene High Rise Straight in Mirja

 jeans c/o (28) // jacket c/o (S) // tank c/o (S) // shoes c/o (7.5)

I didn’t expect to like these jeans as much as I do. They have a 11 1/2″ front rise and a 27″ inseam with a 14″ leg opening, and they’re more of that retro rigid denim, but they’re not so stiff that they’re uncomfortable. The fabric is 98% cotton, 2% polyurethane.

The wash has a subtle acid wash finish to it but not too dramatic. I kind of like it! They are really tight in the waist, though. I don’t think I’d like the fit as much in the legs if I sized up, so I’m hoping they loosen up with wear.

VERDICT: I’m going to need to wear them around for a while to see if they loosen up or if I need to size up.

KUT from the Kloth Reese High Rise Straight

jeans (28) // sweater (S) // mules (7.5)

I’ve shown these before, but I wanted to throw them here as a lower priced option. These also have a slightly lower rise, which some of you may prefer. They have a 9 1/2″ rise and a 27″ inseam with a 13 3/4″ leg opening. And the sweater and shoes I’m wearing here are also on sale!

Dolce Vita Mavise Heeled Sandal

shoes c/o (7.5) // jeans c/o (28)

These are definitely not winter shoes, but I was drawn to them the second I saw them. I’m calling it now, these are going to be the shoes to have this spring — this style, not necessarily this exact shoe, but I do really like these exact shoes.

They’re extremely comfortable, for one thing. I also like the blond wood on the stacked heel, the soft pebbled leather, and the subtle contrasting trim around the base of the sole. This light sand color is a great neutral too.

Evereve Julia Utility Jogger

top c/o (S) // joggers c/o (28) // sneakers (39)

I have these pants in the black, so I already knew I like the fit and feel, and I thought the camo might be a nice option to have. I like how these look nicer than typical joggers but they’re more comfortable than jeans or khakis.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping. I already wore them once.

Varley Miller Half Zip

top c/o (S) // joggers c/o (28) // P448 John (39)

So I’m kind of undecided on this top. I really like the color and the styling of the neck, but it’s got a lot of volume. I feel like it isn’t as flattering as some of the sweatshirt style tops that I have.

It’s cute, but I think it would look better in a smaller size, or maybe on someone with a smaller chest. It’s also quite pricey for what it is.

I tried front tucking it, but I’m not sure I care for this with the banded waist. I prefer the more natural look with this one.

VERDICT: I’ll have to see if I reach for it; I have a feeling I’ll reach for others I have first. Like the Colie Mini Rib Hoodie… This is how I wore these pants earlier this week.

This one is a little cozier and a little less voluminous, but I do really like the lighter color on the Varley Miller Half Zip.

Jamison Bailey Pointelle Pullover

sweater c/o (S) // Mother Dazzler at Revolve and Mother.com (29) // P448 Jack c/o (39)

I think this is such a fun sweater for this time of year. I love the directional lines and pointelle stitching and this feminine shade of pink. It pairs so well with light wash denim and grey tones.

The mock neck is cozy, and the 21″ length makes it easy to throw on with high waisted jeans; I don’t feel any need to front tuck this one.

VERDICT: I definitely think I’ll find myself reaching for this one a lot over the next few months.

P448 Jack Zebby Sneaker

 sneakers c/o (39) // jeans (29)

I really do not need another pair of sneakers, but all my P448s are the John style, and this Jack style looked interesting. Plus, look at the hot pink soles!!!

They have a little more of a squared-off toe, and the tongue comes up a little higher on the top of the foot, so I feel like they make my feet look bigger than the John style, but I kind of like them for a change.

The texture on the tongue and heel tab add interest and keep them from looking too pristine. As always, the padded collar and cushioned footbed make these super comfortable. These are stylish, but I can also walk miles in them. In fact, sometimes I even wear them out to walk the the 1-mile loop around my neighborhood, when I’m too lazy to change into running shoes.

VERDICT: Definitely will wear these since I have them and they were gifted. Definitely didn’t need them, but since I wear sneakers so much, I think they’ll get plenty of wear.

Mother Denim Update

I shared these jeans in last week’s Try-On Haul, but I had to order the next size up, which came in this week.

Mother Mid Rise Dazzler Ankle Fray

at Revolve and Mother.com (29) // sweater c/o (S) // sneakers c/o (39)

These are a better fit than the 28, and I really like them. They’re definitely more comfortable than the AG Maris that I was trying to replace. Unfortunately, this style seems to be getting discontinued, as I can’t find many of them and I’ve searched a lot. I really like the slim, straight fit and 27 1/2″ inseam.

Amazon Fashion Finds

Amazon Plaid Shacket

shacket (S) // t-shirt (M) // jeans (29) // sneakers (39)

Finally, I have a few things I ordered recently from Amazon. I have struggled with feeling too lumberjack in the shacket trend, but I thought this feminine color palette might work for me. I’m actually rather impressed with the quality on this one, considering the price point. It’s thick and fits pretty well, but it isn’t soft inside like some other higher priced ones I’ve tried. Still, if you wear it over a long sleeve tee, you won’t really notice.

VERDICT: I’m going to hold onto this one for a few weeks and see if I reach for it. It’s nice for a change!

THE GYM PEOPLE Thick High Waist Yoga Pants with Pockets in Black Leopard

leggings (S) // tee (S) // sneakers (8.5)

My trainer turned me onto these Gym People leggings. She is very picky about her athletic wear and wears lots of Vuori and similar brands, so when I saw her wearing these and asked about them, I was surprised to hear they were from Amazon. They come in lots of fun prints, and she has several pairs.

I decided to order them to see for myself, and color me surprised when I found them quite comfortable! They’re soft and stretchy, and the high waist stays in place and doesn’t bind or anything.

VERDICT: I need a new pair of leggings like I need a hole in the head, but I’m keeping them.  For this price, why not?

Okay, that is a wrap! I wasn’t planning to post tomorrow, but Alison and I took some pictures yesterday, and I have extras so I’m going to throw up another outfit post tomorrow. It’s actually one from these try-ons, but I’ll be able to talk more about it in a dedicated post. Can you guess which one it is? 😜

  1. I don’t know what happened but so many of the photos in this post didn’t come through. Just has a ? in the middle of a big white square. I thought maybe they were just slow loading, but after reading the whole post and going back to see, many still haven’t come through. UMMMM???? As for the ivory sweatshirt. It definitely has too much material and doesn’t fit right. I think it looks like the old school ones people us to wear in the 80’s. You have a lot more sweatshirts with a better fit for sure. That is so neat Evereve gifts you so often. Great way to get the more expensive items for sure. I do love the jackets they have. I hope you are able to get your tooth to settle down. That has been way tooooo long with some type of pain. Have a good weekend.

  2. I like so many of the tops you shared in this post! For those wanting nice, comfortable, and reasonably priced casual pieces, I highly recommend the Zella brand. I love wearing everything I have in that brand. I hope your tooth is feeling better today!

  3. PS I still don’t get the replies sent to my email? Do I have to mark the box about this, every time I send my comments?

      1. I’m so confused. When I first commented to you up above, I forgot to check the box, got no email on your reply. Then on this 2nd reply, asking if I have to check the box each time, I did check the box and still no email reply back from you. I have to go back to your blog post to see if I got any replies. This one showed boxed checked ready to send but upabove I had to check the box to reply. UM???? Sorry for the confusion. I guess I’m not sure what I’m suppose to do on my end to receive email replies.

  4. How does the Evereve Oatmeal sweater run shown with the Kut From Kloth jeans. I’m a 34D and weigh 130 pounds. I’m 63 and don’t look great in a fitted style. Thinking maybe order a Medium?
    Thank you for your input!

  5. I snagged a pair of P448’s at Nordstrom Rack! Couldn’t pass up the price! My question is, what is the proper thing to do with the laces. Can I tie them or should they be knotted and left open as you show in a picture above?
    Thank you!!

  6. Hi! I love your try on posts! Can you tell me about the thickness of the leggings from Amazon? Are they thick enough to wear to outside when it is in the 40s? I have several pairs of different brands, but they are too thin to wear when I want to walk outside when it’s cold. Thanks! And as always – I love your blog!

  7. So many cute things! I especially like the pink sweater and the pink plaid shacket. I guess I must be ready for lighter colors now. Time to brighten up winter!

  8. I usually steer my teen daughter to Evereve to pick out a Christmas gift for me from my kids. She chose the Varley zip up that you styled. I laughed when you said perhaps it would work on someone with a smaller chest. That describes me, but when I tried it on I said “perhaps it would fit someone with a larger chest.”. So much fabric!!!! Back it went, and I couldn’t believe the price when I got my store credit. Style is right, fit is all wrong.

  9. I’m having a Hello Kitty themed birthday party for my daughter this month and was thinking about ordering the pink sweater. I read in the website description that it has split cuffs. I have another top with split cuffs that I was planning to donate because I just don’t know what to DO with them. Any advice?

  10. LOVE those Fidelity jeans but almost choked when I saw the price. I can see cost per wear because everything you showed them with worked. But still…the price. Ugg – why did you have to show them to us?😂

  11. Okay, the box is automatically checked I see now. Could you send me a test reply and I’ll see if I get an email with it? Thanks,
