2017 Guide to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Okay, y’all. It’s here! the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public at 3AM!!! If you aren’t a cardholder and you’ve been impatiently watching all the hype, now it’s your turn to shop! And if you are a cardholder and some of your favorites sold out before you had a chance to snag them, you may be in luck! Check back first thing in the morning to see if they are restocked.

What Is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

In case you aren’t aware what all the hype is about, the #NSale introduces NEW fall 2017 styles at a deeply reduced introductory prices before any other retailer carries them so you can get a head start on your fall wardrobe AND make the most of your budget. Prices go back up on August 7th.

I learned last year that some items sell out super fast, never to be restocked, and a few will actually go down even more after the sale. Yes, they say prices go back up on August 7, and most do, but not all. I am just keeping it real. I know everyone swears these are the best deals every, and they probably are, but you never know.

That said, most things do sell out or go back up in price so I wouldn’t take any chances if you see something you want. Nordstrom has a very generous return/exchange policy, so if in doubt, get it when you can, and keep the tags on if you’re not ready to wear it yet. If it goes down or you change your mind, you can always exchange or get a price adjustment.

What To Buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

This it the time to think about investment pieces and big ticket items (boots, coats, watches, handbags…) as well as some lower priced trendy items to spice up your fall wardrobe. You’ll get to enjoy them for the whole season, AND you get a great price. Some things sell out fast — like within the first day or two, but most things will be available for a while.

You can access my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coverage at any time by clicking the #NSALE link at the top of my website.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Strategy

If you plan to shop the sale, make sure you are signed up for Nordstrom Rewards. Then you can use one of your allotted Triple Points Days during the #NSale to rack up some serious Nordstrom Rewards points. Try to do the majority of your Anniversary Sale shopping on that day, or at least get the big ticket items on your Triple Points Day.

I recommend making a few lists. Take inventory of your fall closet and make a list of things you need, places you want to fill in the gaps. Then as you read my blog and others, make a list of the things you want. Nordstrom even allows you to add them to a Wish List, so you can easily keep track of what you are watching.

After you have your lists, set a budget. Yes, this sale can romance even the most dedicated and responsible spenders into buying more than they planned, so go with a budget in mind, and then you can prioritize things before you make your final decision.

Remember that Nordstrom’s return policy is very generous (free shipping and free returns for 6 months) so you can always return anything that doesn’t fit or you decide not to keep. If in doubt about sizes, order both and return the one that doesn’t work because if you wait to exchange it later, you might find they’re sold out.

As always, when you shop through my links, it helps support my business (at no cost to you) so thank you!

Now let’s get to it!!!
