Coffee Talk 02.20.22

Patagonia jacket (S) // Smartwool gloves (M) // Good American denim (6) // Maui Jim sunnies // Kendra Scott hoops

Wow, I looked at the date to write on this post, and I realized we are 3/4 the way through February already. It’s always amazing to me how slow January feels and then how fast February goes. I’m headed to Floria tomorrow to shoot some spring outfits.

And yes, I realize that’s all I’ve talked about for the past two weeks, but it’s pretty much all-consuming at this point. Between keeping up with this week’s posting schedule, getting blog posts for next week prepped, and planning outfits to shoot while I’m down there, there hasn’t been time for much else. I’m meeting with a couple of different photographers, so it will be interesting to see how the pictures turn out and how they compare.

I went to the mall yesterday to look for a few things I wanted to complete some of the outfits I’m bringing, but I didn’t find much. Our stores aren’t quite there yet with the spring inventory, but I did notice lots of super bright colors at LOFT. I think the age of neutrals is rapidly coming to an end.

As much as I love neutral looks and find them soothing, I’m definitely ready to start seeing more color, so I picked up this sweater in the pink. It’s pretty bright, but I think it will look great with white denim.

Despite my disappointment with yesterday’s shopping trip, I think I have a good assortment outfits. I suppose I could always go shopping when I get down there and see if I find anything new and different than what they have up here, but I really don’t want to waste any of the Florida sun inside a shopping mall.

My bedroom is currently a mess of outfits grouped together all over the floor, so now I need to figure out how I’m going to fit them all into my suitcase. I definitely plan to check a large bag, but I don’t want to take more than one. That’s the nice thing about spring/summer clothes; they don’t take up a lot of room. So anyway, that’s my plan for the afternoon!

It hasn’t been a very exciting weekend around here. We stayed in both nights. Actually, Paul and I tried to go out to eat on Friday night at a nearby bar & grille that we like when we’re feeling super casual and don’t want to cook.

We usually go on the earlier side and can often get a high top at the bar, but when we got there at 6PM on Friday, it was mobbed and there was a 20 min wait for a table. We weren’t feeling it, so we went next door and got a pizza to take home.

As annoying as that was, it was something of a confirmation that this pandemic really is in the rear window… at least as far as learning to live with it is concerned. It’s pretty much endemic at this point, and I could not be more happy about that. It’s been a long time in coming!

In other good news, my second visit to the chiropractor did the trick, and my neck and back is feeling a lot better. It’s not 100%, but it’s close enough, and I’m so relieved. I was afraid I’d be traveling with this pain and stiffness, and since sitting in the car really bothers me when this issue flares up, I’m sure sitting in a plane for 2 1/2 hours would not be pleasant.

And there we go, we just came full circle, ha! I told you I can’t think of much other than my trip right now. I’ll be sharing some of my adventures on my Instagram Story, if you want to follow along, and of course I’ll have a full recap on the blog when I get back.

  1. Jo-Lynne, have a fabulous trip to Florida! I cannot wait to see the outfits that you will put together, the sun, and the scenery. Safe travels.

  2. I love that Patagonia jacket. Have a great time in Florida. I am going in May and staying at Tween Waters Resort in Captiva! Looking forward to your posts so I can pack my things too.

  3. I am ready for the pandemic to be over, however the pandemic decided it isn’t done with me. Tested positive yesterday after being so careful for the past 2 years. I will say, I felt worse when I had the flu, so I guess the vaccine is doing it’s job.

I am so ready for the Spring colors and wardrobe too. I am trying to figure out some ideas for work that will stand up to heavy lifting and cardboard. Definitely not an easy task to figure out. Have a great time on your trip, and please bring warm weather back to PA!

  4. Good luck in FL! I hope and pray that everything goes off without any hiccups. Well, I just ordered the bright pink sweater from Loft, so thank you for sharing it with us. I can start wearing it as soon as it arrives. We actually are supposed to have some highs in the 80’s this week, but it comes with a chance of rain every day. Have a blessed day!

  5. Glad to hear your neck and back are feeling better! I can’t wait for my therapeutic massage the first of March … I have lots of trigger points🙈..
Love the pink in that sweater …for some reason I’ve gravitated towards pink this year ( I’m wearing a bubble gum color pink sweater now with a lighter denim wash)
I’m excited to see your posts while in Florida! Are you going with family or friends?
We are so ready to start traveling again just waiting for the right opportunity! And things to get better at the border for us!
    Have fun!!

  6. Not sure where in Fl you’re headed, but here in Central Florida, it will be very warm next week. ( High 80’s) You’ll definitely get the warm weather you are craving. I’m looking forward to seeing what you style. Have Fun!

  7. So glad you are feeling better! Looking forward to seeing what you put together. Hoping you have no stress at all.

  8. Have a safe and fun trip to Florida! Hey, if I could go to FL right now I’d be talking about it nonstop! Can’t wait to see the outfits you are styling. Thanks for all you do! You are super!

  9. I hope your trip goes well, I do enjoy reading your posts all the way from the other side of the world and reading about family, fashion and life in the USA. Whilst we are learning to live with Covid, it is not yet endemic. Whilst the world has such an uneven distribution of vaccine access new variants will emerge and they may or may not cause havoc, depending on severity and transmissibility. We are still in a pandemic. Endemic disease means there is a predictable geographically contained outbreak. Unfortunately Covid remains unpredictable and unstable.

  10. Extending an early welcome to Florida! nor sure where you are going, but the weather here in North Centgral Florida is going to be fabulous next week (upper 80’s)!
Enjoy your trip! Excited to see your posts!
