February Favorites

Good morning! I haven’t done one of these random favorites posts in a while, so I rounded up a bunch of things I’ve been loving lately. These are things I have and use and highly recommend.

February Favorites

one // I just picked up this top, and I think it’s going to be a nice one for spring. The material is incredibly soft and comfy, and it runs true to size. This is the Rust Marsala, and comes in five other colors, including a really pretty blue.

two // I’ve been giving my go-to tartelette in Bloom eyeshadow palette a rest and using this gorgeous palette from Dior. I was bummed to discover it was gone at the major retailers, but it’s still available at Dior.com with free shipping. It’s the Cool Neutrals. If you’re on Instagram, I showed how it looks for a casual daytime look. It’s saved to my highlight reel under Eye Shadow.

three // I’m still waiting to get my window treatment before I post my Powder Room reveal, but again, I shared some of the progress on my Instagram Story, and it’s also saved to my highlight reel. I realize not everyone is on IG, but it’s the best way for me to show things on the fly. I will have pictures of the before and after for the blog soon!

Anyway! My daughter says our powder room is bougie so I figured I need some bougie accessories, ha! I found this Barr-Co. Reserve Soap at Pottery Barn, but it’s suddenly sold out. I did find it at Amazon, though. It’s pricey for soap, but I think it looks aesthetically pleasing, and I also like that it’s glass and not plastic. It also smells lovely, it’s a subtle scent, but very nice and gentle on the skin. You can also get refills for it.

four // This is a neat little gift set by tarte that’s on QVC right now. I’ll be sharing more about it in a future post, but it’s a super-sized tarte Shape Tape Concealer with their Shape Tape Glow Blush (basically blush and highlighter in one) and a retractable Custom Coverage 2-in-1 Face Brush that you can use to apply both the concealer and the blush.

five // Okay, so this is kind of random, but I got these draw dividers off Amazon, and I love how they help keep my drawers organized. I try to cram as much as I can into the drawers in my closet. This is where I keep socks and workout clothes, at least the lightweight stuff. My tees and leggings go in here, as well as my sport bras.

I also picked up this set for my dresser drawers. These are longer and work well for larger drawers.

six // I’ve always used a sweater stone for de-pilling my sweaters but R asked if we could get this little gizmo, so I agreed. Amazon makes it too easy! Well, I don’t know how I lived without one of these all my life. It works so well, and fast too. It also works on upholstery. My navy couch gets really pilled and looks gross, and this works like a dream.

seven // I loved The Things We Cannot Say, so I just ordered this book by the same author. I can’t wait to get started reading it.

eight // I’ve been wearing these Paige Lia Booties a lot lately. They strike a nice balance between practical and comfortable and chic. Because they’re leather, I can wear them when it’s messy out, and the low heel is very walkable. The pointy toe and angled zipper make them dressy and a bit edgy for dressed-up casual looks.

I thought they were sold out, but I found them at Nordstrom Rack! They’re 50% off the original price, but still an investment in your wardrobe at $199. The quality is outstanding, and they’re very comfortable with a cushioned insole. They run true to size, or size up if you want to wear them with socks. I find them a bit snug in the toe box when I wear even thin socks with them.

nine // Speaking of my bougie powder room, I got this little gold trash can to set in there. I had an open trash can in there before, and I realized I really should have one with a lid. I wanted a gold one to coordinate with the wallpaper, so I found this Brabantia step trash can, but I didn’t realize it was going to be so small.

Paul went in there last night and saw it for the first time and asked it if was meant for hobbits. I’m still laughing out loud. So yeah, it is tiny. I kind of wish I got this 1.3 gallon one, but the 0.8 gallon size that I have is quiet and easy to use, and it hides, you know… the things we don’t want to see in a powder room trash can.

So if you have a tiny spot, and you want a bougie trash can with a soft-close lid, this is for you. This is the champagne color, and it also comes in matte silver and matte black.

ten // I’ve already waxed eloquent about these Vuori leggings, but for anyone who missed it, they are so soft, extremely comfortable, flattering, and they stay put. The soft, high waist keeps everything smoothed out but doesn’t bind or create any lumps and bumps.

They run true to size, or you could size up if they don’t have the size you want. I have the medium, but I think the small would be fine too. They’re also on sale for $62, down from $89.

eleven // I’ve been loving this LOFT striped shoulder button sweater sweater lately, and it’s really comfortable as well as affordable, and there’s no wool content for those who don’t care for that. It’s still fully stocked, and currently 50% off with code REFRESH.

If you’re looking to get to the $99 free shipping threshold, I also recommend this leopard print v-neck sweater in pretty blue hues, this tweed sweater jacket, and these beaded drop earrings. I also have my eye on this striped dolman. In fact, I tried to order it before for store pickup, and it got canceled because they didn’t actually have one in-store, so I may try again.

twelve // I ordered these hairbands after Cyndi Spivey recommended them, and they’re fantastic. Super gentle on the hair, and they stay in place and don’t stretch out.

thirteen // My daughter bought me this hand gel cream because it has hyaluronic acid, which she informed me helps retain moisture and is what I need for my dry hands. She loves to research beauty products.

I keep it on my desk and use it whenever my hands start to feel or look dry and tight. It also has some cooling properties in it when feels really nice. It’s not thick or greasy at all, but it definitely keeps my hands well hydrated.

fourteen (also at Amazon) // Because I’m a sheep, lol, I ordered this 40 oz. tumbler when my friend Lindsey of The Motherchic mentioned it on her Instagram Story. Since then, I’ve seen a lot of influencers sharing them. I’m always trying to drink more water, but once my 16 oz. glass is gone, I’m too lazy or I just forget to go fill it up again. I have several of these S’well water bottles, which I bring with me a lot when I’m out and about, but they’re only 17 oz.

This tumbler holds 40 oz. of water (or coffee or whatever) and it keeps it cold (or hot) and it also has a straw. I always drink more water through a straw, so I’ve been keeping this with me as I’m working here at home and moving around the house. I’m definitely consuming a lot more water! It’s kind of cumbersome and large, but I love it.

fifteen // I also found this seagrass reed diffuser at Pottery Barn. It’s part of their Signature Home Scent collection. I chose it both for the look and also the wonderful scent. It was rather overpowering at first, but it has definitely settled down, and now it’s just a nice light scent that makes the space seem even more special.

sixteen // I love my makeup train case for travel, but I’ve been getting frustrated with it for everyday use. I don’t have any drawers in my vanity, so everything is kept in my linen closet or on my bathroom vanity, and I’ve been puling the train case out of the closet every day for years.

I finally got fed up and ordered this makeup organizer. It’s huge, but I love it. It’s so much easier to find what I need. There’s also a smaller size, if you prefer. I could have probably gotten away with that one, but I do love this. Once again, you can see more of this on yesterday’s IG Story; it’s part of the Eye Shadow highlight.

seventeen // I don’t have a picture wearing these yet because they just came in, but I think they’re so pretty. They a great complement to white and ivory sweaters, as well as shades of green and blue. They’re 30% off at LOFT, and the perfect add-on if you’re trying to get to that $99 threshold for free shipping.

eighteen // I’ve been wearing my wool blend cocoon coat a lot recently — this one and the grey. I love them both, and they’re currently half off, marked down to $184.50! I’m tempted to grab that Hthr Fire Red, I’ve never noticed that color before.

nineteen // I’ve also been reaching for these rag & bone sunnies more lately, and there are a few left at Amazon. I love the mix of colors, the brown and lavender tones are so flattering.

Whew! I didn’t mean to include so many, but once I got started, I just kept going. Have a terrific Tuesday!

  1. What size are you wearing in the first shirt? Love it and want to order but I’m not sure if I should size up or not…

  2. So many good things this month! Thanks for sharing. LOL about your bougie bathroom. My daughter has always accused me of being bougie. Now, at almost 30 years old, she’s sending me photos of her acquired bougie tendencies.

  3. Great list! I love these kind of posts. It’s like going to coffee with a friend and her saying I’ve got to tell you about this that I love! (although they are more enabling than the regular ones). I forgot about them when I filled out the survey.

  4. I’ve been using the hydroboost hand lotion for a while now and love it, but hard to find around here for some reason. Oddly I can find at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I also use the rose bud salve you shared last week. I use it for my cuticles at night and it helps with the cracks I get on my fingertips in the winter.

  5. I will have to try the hand lotion, I have the face wash and serum, but didn’t know about the hand lotion (thank you to your daughter and you, I do now). I have chronic dry skin, so does my son, so I will be on the lookout for this. My mom always said I could be hooked up to a lotion IV 24/7 and I would still have dry skin. 🙂 I have the drawer dividers, they are awesome!!! I even use them above my oven to store my baking sheets, muffin pans, etc. They are so versatile. I will have to pick up the book, I have it on my TBR list that is over 3500 books, and I only read about 65 a year, it could be awhile.

  6. I also read ‘The Things We Cannot Say’ (such a moving book and so well written), and am now reading ‘The Warsaw Orphans’. I have read so many great books about that period in History and these are fantastic. The bonus is I read them on my Kindle and was able to check out both of these books digitally from my local library – a Win-Win! The library books are delivered to your Kindle with the LIBBY APP – which is so cool. Libby is a free app where you can borrow ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from your public library. You can stream titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use and read anytime, anywhere. All you need to get started is a library card.

    1. That’s awesome! I have a kindle but I find I’m more likely to read a paper book, I don’t know why. I usually pass mine on to a friend when I’m done. But that’s a great way to read books for free without going to the library.

      1. I love that you pass the books you’ve read to someone else! I travel 3 weeks/month and I’m in such a habit of using my Kindle. I have Airline packing/carry-on/personal item down to a science – LOL!

  7. Wow I love the train make up case. I have had a round spinning one that takes up too much space. I ordered the one you listed. 😊 I need the water bottle, it will be perfect for me when I am our and about and at the gym.. I ordered that.. I use my Target red card for the perks of free shipping and 5% off.

    Thank you Jo-Lynne

  8. I’ve been considering those Vuori leggings! The ones you linked that are on sale are listed as “V1.” Do you happen to know what makes them different from the same ones (same name, same pattern) that are full price?

    1. I don’t, I assumed they were the same. That doesn’t really make sense, though. I wonder if they’re the former version, with the lower rise that I had first. They used to call them something different, tho.

  9. I just purchased this exact Conair sweater shaver last week. It must be that time of year. We’re all trying to salvage our worn out sweaters. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it works. First time I’ve owned a sweater shaver and I must agree with you, “Where has this little gem been all my life?”. I highly recommend it.

    1. P.S. The half-bath remodel looks GREAT! It’s a good sign, lol!, that a man would want a bigger trash can and understand it’s where you dispose of the things after cleaning up one’s environment.
Too many of them STILL have no etiquette about putting the seat down or about the toothpaste tube (mini rant over!).

  10. Love this post! Just wondering how the sizing is in the wool cocoon coat? It looks beautiful on you! I’ve had my eye on this coat for a long time! Thank you for all your thought and hard work in each post, Jo-Lynne!

  11. Just finished the Warsaw Orphan book and absolutely loved it. Going to try the other one now since you suggested it.
Also get your daughter to search up Tropic skincare UK. I’m an ambassador for it and I love it all. Lots of them contain hyaluronic acid.
