Full Coverage Foundation for Aging Skin

Alright, ladies. Who struggles with age spots, discoloration, melasma, and other lovely benefits of aging? *raises hand* Well, guess what?

tarte, the maker of the iconic shape tape concealer, just came out with a full coverage cream foundation that is a total game changer.

I’m talking about the tarte Shape Tape™ Cream Foundation, and it’s on a world wide launch at QVC along with a foundation brush for ideal application.

And to sweeten the pot, they are offering both the foundation and the brush for $45! The foundation alone retails for $44, so that’s basically like getting the brush for $1.

So let me tell you a little about my aging skin. I’ve always had a bit of rosacea, but nothing I couldn’t easily disguise with light to medium coverage foundation.

Then a couple of years ago, I started noticing this brown discoloration along my jawline.

I assumed it was due to the many years of unprotected sun exposure finally catching up with me, but my dermatologist says it’s mostly a hormonal issue. Ah, perimenopause… the gift that keeps on giving!

Whatever the cause, I don’t like it, so I’ve been using a vitamin C serum and Retin-A for a couple of years, but nothing seems to help.

I always apply a lot of foundation and powder over that area, trying to disguise it as much as possible, but aside from plastering it with coverup, it’s still quite visible.

All that to say, I was eager to try this full coverage cream foundation.

Even though it’s quite thick, the tarte Shape Tape™ Cream Foundation goes on smoothly and easily, and it doesn’t sink into fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it covers my melasma better than anything else I’ve tried. Take a look!

This is WITH the tarte Shape Tape™ Cream Foundation on the left and WITHOUT on the right. (I’m wearing my regular foundation on the right… it looks far worse with nothing.)

Not only does the tarte Shape Tape™ Cream Foundation provide full coverage for age spots and discoloration, but it’s designed to blur out the large pores and fine lines that tend to come with age, while moisturizing and plumping up the skin.

To apply, you just buff the foundation into your skin from the center of the face outward and blend, blend, blend. It’s so quick and easy, and I was amazed at how well it covers up my skin’s imperfections without looking thick or cakey!

The tarte Shape Tape™ Cream Foundation & Brush comes in tons of colors for all skin tones. Just use their shade chart to determine your best shade, and if you need more help, check out the video on the QVC website. I’m wearing the 38N medium tan neutral.

Because it’s so creamy and moisturizing, I did find that I needed a powder on top, so I used the tarte Sunset Blur Finishing Powder that I shared a few weeks back.

This finishing powder is designed to cancel redness and hyperpigmentation, so these two products make for a great combo when you want full coverage.

And as always, all tarte products are vegan and cruelty-free.

That’s the main thing I wanted to tell you about today, but while I was on the QVC website, I also picked up the ELEMIS Core4 Discovery Set.

I’ve shared this set before, but I wanted to call it to your attention because it’s a $108 value for $59 + free standard shipping & handling until October 1st.

I love this set for travel. It includes the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads, Superfood Facial Oil, and Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF all in convenient travel sizes. And they come in a cute little cosmetic bag! It’s basically your entire skincare routine in one convenient little kit.

And then this is totally random, but I also grabbed this 82″ artificial olive tree for my newly renovated bathroom.

I did a black and white color theme, and it was all looking rather sterile, so I wanted to add some warmth and a natural element to the space.

This olive tree is perfect because it isn’t too big and overwhelming in tight spaces.

And can you get over that dog? She just came in and plopped down, picture perfect! And then she moved in closer to the tree when I was working on it.

The olive tree looked pretty spindly when I pulled it out of the box, but after some zhuzhing to fluff it out a bit, it’s perfect for a tight space like the corner by my shower when you just need a little touch of nature.

Oh, and the basket is mine. It comes in a small plastic pot, but I wanted something more substantial.

Don’t forget to check out QVC’s Beauty iQ page for the newest beauty deals each week! Plus, use code OFFER for $15 off $35+ if it’s your first time purchasing or code HELLO10 for $10 off $25+ if it’s your second time purchasing.

  1. You’re my kind of gal–home by 10:00! I cannot wait to try this new foundation. Perimenopause is the gift that keeps on giving:( Just when I think I have things figured out and have accepted some of the changes–BAM, something else comes along!

  2. Jo-Lynne…this is exactly what I need!! I’m having similar issues with melasma on my upper lip and cheeks. I’m now trying that prescription “Musely” cream that was all over my FB feed. They promise some pretty substantial results!

  3. Hi Jolynne! This foundation looks great! I have had the same discoloration along my jawline and I just hate it. The best product I have found to help correct this is Alpyn Beauty Bearberry & Vitamin C Glow Serum. It was an Allure Beauty Award winner and it really has helped fade the discoloration and sun spots better than anything else I have ever used. I hope this helps!

  4. Thanks for sharing this. I’m going to try it! I’ve been using the Tarte Foundcealer foundation in 27N – light-medium neutral. I would have pegged you for the same color. In fact I thought I got the recommendation from you previously for the color and foundation, but I could be mistaken. Will you go down to the medium or light-medium color for the winter?

  5. I love The Stage in Nashville! It has always been a favorite when visiting Nashville. The talent in that city is unreal! Will you share your AirBNB once you get home?

  6. I will have to give this a try. After a yr using various things my dermatologist recommended, I think I’m going to do the Cosmelan Chemical Peel. Just have to convince my husband to part with the $$$.

  7. Love that olive tree with the basket, Definitely will be seeing if I can order, I need one for a corner in my living room, what are the basket dimensions?

  8. Hi,
I hope your having a great time with Lisa and Cyndi. The QVC Elemis set is sold out. But I am going to try the Tarte tape cream and powder. I also have some Melasma. I do regular chemical peels and laser treatments. It works!

  9. Wow, that master bath! I really want a better look at that shower! Looking forward to the big reveal!! Glad you are enjoying Nashville. Loving the group photos being shared on Instagram. Of the six of you, I regularly follow 5. I will need to get on board with #6!! I love buying beauty products on QVC. They do have the best prices on sets. Tarte is a favorite. Safe travels home tomorrow.

  10. Your sneek peek on your bathroom looks amazing. Great job. I think I’m going to check out the foundation. I need a new one. I have been using Crunchi, but can’t seem to get the right shade lately.

  11. I love that Savannah is in your pictures and you’re ok with it! She’s a cutie-pup.

I did IPL to get rid of the dark spots from aging and the redness from roscea. Since then I’ve used Elta Elements religiously, all with good results. Highly recommend IPL.

  12. Sorry, late to this party BUT I wanted to THANK YOU for this information on the foundation! I was heading to Ulta anyway so I checked it out and sure enough, found my skin tone shade and they had a “sample” size you could purchase for $16. Tried it the next day and this product is AMAZING! I too was (still am but with much more protection) a sun worshiper and have some age spots on my 63 yr old face. This will be my “go to” product from now on. I’m SO appreciative of your blog!!
