It’s looking like suede is going to be everywhere this fall, and I’m here for it! I mentioned in my Fall Fashion Forecast that this texture is trending big time—not just in boots and shoes, but also in handbags, belts, jackets, skirts, and even dresses.
I love how suede makes an outfit feel instantly more seasonal and polished, so to give you some ideas for how to wear the suede trend this fall, I’ve rounded up my favorite pieces in every category.
Suede Boots & Shoes

When it comes to incorporating suede into your fall wardrobe, footwear is the obvious place to start. From knee boots and ankle booties to loafers and sneakers, shoes are the easiest way to bring the trend into your everyday looks. Pair suede boots with denim for a classic fall combo, or swap in suede loafers or sneakers to give casual outfits a softer, more polished feel.
Suede Bags & Accessories

Suede accessories are a chic and versatile way to bring this trend into your wardrobe. From slouchy totes and structured crossbodies to suede belts and smaller accents, these pieces add that perfect fall texture and instantly elevate any outfit. Style a suede bag with your everyday jeans-and-sweater looks, or use a suede belt to cinch a dress or blazer for extra polish.

Are you on board with the suede trend? I’d love to know what pieces you’re planning to work into your fall wardrobe.

I want a pair of those brown suede Mary Janes like in the Evereve picture above – actually I love that whole outfit! We live in south Florida so using Fall colors and selectively using suede items like shoes, bags and belts help me enjoy a Fall vibe without sweating in heavy clothes. We’ll be in the 80s through mid November so no fun jackets here til January. 🙁
Where I live is quite warm, making suede clothing impractical. But I love suede, so I focus primarily on accessories – shoes and handbags. And one faux suede skirt which I do wear in the winter. I also do what Kelly does, bring out my favorite fall colors to wear this time of year. 🙂
Love! I bought the suede bomber from Allsaints at Nsale and it’s sitting in the “maybe” pile so far. I love the rich brown and caramel suede pieces so much! I want to find just the right piece to keep in my closet. Your widgets gave lots of excellent options! Thank you for doing the work for us😊
Im on the hunt for suede boat shoes or loafers that are really comfortable, if not, suede sneakers.
I love the suede skirts and mini dresses and tall boots, but alas, I no longer live a life where I need those sorts of outfits. My suede items are now sneakers and even carrying a handbag isn’t something I do that often. I’m keeping my eye out for a rust-brown suede jacket. I hope you had an uneventful trip home, Jo-Lynne. I’m suddenly seeing track pants everywhere, including Evereve. I’m intrigued. A post featuring a put-together track pant outfit might be fun.
Yes, I was just thinking about ordering some!
I’m on the search right now for a suede jacket something I haven’t owned in a very long time. I just ordered a new suede handbag for the fall season and I do have some loafers and boots! I’ve just not been able to decide what style to go with for the suede jacket. ( I think I want a brown color)Something with just a more polished hem line or the bomber style that has a little bit of an elastic to it that could be a little bit more casual. What are your thoughts?
I love suede, always have, so happy its trending. Its so soft, comfortable and provides such nice lux texture. Wish I had never given away a black suede fringed jacket I had years ago.
Great post, thank you!
Im considering the Quince blk trucker jkt and olive crossbody bag.

I love the look of suede and it makes me ready for fall!! Question – with something like the suede dress or pants, would you wear suede shoes also or switch to leather for a different texture? What about with a suede jacket and say, jeans? Suede shoes ok then?
Yeah, I like to mix up textures, especially if they are next to each other, but you certainly don’t have to.
Thank you for this post!
I would love to get a pair of Mary Jane shoes but are any of them comfortable? I need support and they look like flat shoes. Thank you!
I have those double buckle Dolce Vita MJs and they do have some support. I also have a pair of Vionics. They provide great support.
Vionic and Flitflop both have Mary Janes that have some support.
Kathy,
I have a pair of Madewell Mary Jane’s that are very comfy. They’re black leather & have grommets(so a little edgy). I was very “not in to” Mary Jane’s until in NYC & my daughter talked me into trying them on. I was so sold. I live in the Midwest so not super trendy here & get compliments every single time I wear them. I’m 60 if that helps.
I’m trying to decide if I want the Splendid chocolate brown Mary Jane’s (with the open weave) or a lighter brown suede Dolce Vita MJ. Can’t decide which one would be more suitable for my lifestyle and wardrobe. I know you have the Splendid pair; are they comfortable? Do you think the open weave is seasonless or more just for wearing now through fall?
I have already purchased a suede handbag and I hope to add a pair of suede shoes to my wardrobe. I hope you will be able to get in a nap this afternoon.
All I can think of when I see the Mary Jane’s is that they were all over Italy when I was there and I wish I bought some there! I do enjoy the suede trend as far as skirts, boots, and purses. I actually ordered a suede bag yesterday!
I have always loved suede! I have a memory from way back in high school when my mom let me wear her suede copper colored jacket! I am in the market for a handbag but more so for a COMFORTABLE pair of loafers or sneakers that don’t cost $$$$$. I already bought harness style chocolate brown suede booties a month ago–can’t wait to wear!
I already have suede boots and shoes. I may buy a suede bag. I will buy faux suede clothing but not real suede. It’s just not practical for my lifestyle. Last year I bought a chocolate brown faux suede jacket.
How can one wear suede in an exceptionally rainy climate? Is suede protector enough, or should I just forget it?
I usually don’t wear it in the rain except Blondo and Aquatalia waterproof suede boots.
