Good Saturday morning! We’re enjoying a fairly lazy weekend at home. The weather is cooperating, and we have some projects to work on, but nothing too pressing. It’s pretty much a perfect summer weekend.
Speaking of projects . . . Some of you have said jokingly from time to time that you wish you could shop my closet. Well . . . I’ve decided to have a closet sale. It will take place on Instagram. I’ve created a new account, instagram.com/shopjolynnescloset, where I will be posting pictures of items I’m selling, the original price, my sale price, and instructions on how to claim them.
Basically, it is first come, first served. You will leave your Paypal email address to secure your purchase. I will invoice through Paypal, and you will have 24 hours to make your payment, or I will invoice the next person who commented with their email. I’ve seen other bloggers do this, and it makes so much sense. I’ll be able to feature more products if I know I can recoup some of my investment, and some lucky ladies will get a great deal on barely worn clothing, shoes, and handbags!
At this time I can only mail to U.S. addressees. That may change as time goes on, but I want to keep things as simple as possible for now. I’ll have one day a week that I do mailings, and I’m hoping to enlist the help of my kids so that end of things doesn’t get too overwhelming. We’ll see how it goes! I’m hoping to start listing things today. I just put the one pair of shoes on there so I have something up, but I have a lot more to go up this weekend. Finding the pictures is the most time consuming part.
Meanwhile, I have another Instagram Roundup this week! This is a great way to catch up on anything you might have missed, and I will highlight any sales or special deals as I go along. It seems like there are a lot of sales going on right, now, and the biggest of all — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — is coming up in mid-July. It’s when they put a bunch of their new fall merchandise on sale for a limited time. I was at the mall yesterday, and they were already talking about it. I’m planning a big Guide to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so stay tuned for that!
Okay, so after that length intro . . . here’s what I’ve got this week. It’s not a long one because I didn’t take many mirror selfies this week. The lighting by the mirror in our hotel room wasn’t very good, so I just did a quick snapchat of my dinner outfit each night. Most of my instagram posts were outfits going on the blog.
This is my new striped pool bag I’ve shown a few times this week and my favorite sunnies.
It took me about 20 tries to get this shot, and it isn’t even that impressive, but it’s harder than it seems like it should be to get a still shot like this! There was no one down there yet, so I had the place to myself. I kept repositioning the items and I was contorting myself into an odd position to get the angle I wanted when this one dad walked by with a toddler to claim their seats by the pool. I was sort of in their way, so I looked up and said, “Oh, excuse me! Just trying to make it Instagram-perfect!” And he was like, “I hear ya!” It’s funny how nowadays everybody knows what you’re doing when you’re taking pictures of inanimate objects by the pool. People used to just think I’m crazy. Ha!
SALE ALERT >> This bag is now 20% off at Macy’s! It’s down to $50.99, and remember, it also comes in that adorable red, white, and blue!
Here I am in my coverup with the beach striped tote. All the details for this outfit can be found in this post: Gauze Caftan Swimsuit Cover-Up with Tassel Trim.
I posted this next picture to direct people to Monday’s post: How to Dress Up a Casual Summer Skirt and Tank.
And this one was a preview to my Casual 4th of July Outfit post.
The details for this outfit are in this post: Cold Shoulder Top Outfit.
SALE ALERT >> The DL1961 Emma Legging Jeans I’m wearing above are on sale at Bloomingdales. They are marked down to $99, and with the 20% off, they come down to $79. If you have a Bloomingdales credit card, you get 25% off, and they come down to $74. I love and adore these jeans. I wear them all the time — as you probably know!!! They are incredibly comfortable, they hold their shape, and they wash and wear well time after time. I wear my regular size 29 in these jeans. They were not hemmed, and I’m 5’5″.
These are my new M.Gemi Brezza lace-up ballet flats. LOVE.
And here is the whole outfit. Details are in this post: Lace-Up Flats with Shorts.
This is a mirror selfie I took earlier this week. I think I need to wash my mirror!
green top (old) // similar white denim shorts HERE and HERE // Tory Burch Miller Flip Flops in Sand Patent // Marc Jacobs Natasha Crossbody // Fitbit Bracelet
This adorable floral linen top from LOFT is 40% off right now. In fact, their entire store is 40% off.
SALE ALERT >> 40% off EVERYTHING at LOFT with code JUICY
This is what I wore yesterday to the mall.
Splendid Crinkle Gauze Top // similar cropped jeans (20% off at Bloomingdales) // Sam Edelman Georgette Sandals $39 (only a few sizes left) // Stella & Dot Wanderer Necklace
And these are the shoes I bought at the mall! LOVE these shoes. Can’t wait to style an outfit with them for a photo shoot today. Sizes are selling out fast, unfortunately. There are more sizes at 6pm.com. They are still available in the super popular chestnut color, but for some reason these blue patterned ones are hard to find. Actually, the brown ones are selling out too. Here is what is left at Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.
Okay, that’s a wrap. I hope you all have a lovely weekend! I have a lot on my agenda, so I better get crackin’!

Love the idea of your closet sale! Fantastic!! Will miss out though because I’m not on Instagram ????. Darn!
Joined Instagram to join in the shopping fun!
WOOT! You’ll love it. 🙂 It’s my favorite social network because it’s pretty and virtually drama free. 😉
Good luck with your closet sale! I’m eager to see what you’re parting with! 😉
Jolynne, I don’t know my paypal address – do you know how to find it? I love the idea of your closet sale. It makes so much sense for what you do.
Usually it’s the one you log in with, or you can go to your Profile –> Profile & Settings, and you will see a section with the email addresses you have attached to your account. You can update them there, and any of them should work for invoicing.
Jo Lynne loved the Vera tote so much I had to get one. FYI it is on sale for $34 on the Vera Bradley website. I wanted mine in time for Vaca this coming week so I did an online chat with Macys and they waived the express shipping when I told them I could get the bag on VB website. What a pleasant surprise. However if anyone is wanting it and doesn’t need express shipping check out the VB site!
Awesome! Great info!
How fun! And you know I love those Marc Fisher espadrilles, as I ordered some yesterday. Can’t wait til they arrive!
I will be interested in seeing what you part with as well
The Vera tote is on sale for only $45 and free shipping at Von Maur. ????
Oooooh thanks for the tip!
I’ve been wanting the floral linen top from Loft but when I click the link the red color is the only one that comes up. I guess the floral is out of stock. So sad – love the top with white pants!!!!
Hi Daisy. I am pretty sure they are one and the same. 🙂 I think they are calling that floral print “burning red”.
Awesome — I will order it then!! Thanks so much for clarifying that:)
Just a note of fashion FYI for tall girls like myself: the DL1961 denim have short inseams and their regular length jeans fit me like cropped ankle jeans. I’m 5’9″ and none of the pairs I tried on in the store would work for me. 🙁 Too bad because the material feels great and the color washes are nice.
That is helpful, thanks. I am 5’5″ and they fit me perfectly, so it makes sense if you’re tall, they might not be the best fit. What’s your preferred brand of premium denim?
True Religion, Rag and Bone, and Hudson are my favorites. ????
