Hi, there. Happy Monday! This week, I’m styling some of my favorite fall fashion trends for your everyday outfit inspiration, and today we’re talking about how to incorporate a pop of red into a casual outfit.

Evereve Mack Zipper Sweatshirt (S) // Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans (29) // Puma Easy Rider Vintage Sneakers (8.5) (option/option) // Gucci Disco handbag (budget option)
I’m a big fan of red, but I haven’t worn it a lot in recent years. I’m so happy to see so many options out there right now. All shades of red are trending this season, so there’s something for everyone, whether you prefer warm or cool tones.
Pop of Red: Try A Red Sneaker
The easiest way to incorporate red into an outfit, especially if you don’t care for it near your face, is to wear a red shoe. Red shoes pair beautifully with all shades of denim, which makes it easy for me to wear them since I practically live in jeans. You can even go with a white pair with red accents if you don’t want such a bright shoe.

I like straight leg jeans best with athletic-inspired sneakers like these, and these Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans are made of a retro-inspired rigid denim with just a hint of stretch. They have a versatile medium wash with some subtle fading and abrasion for a casual, lived-in vibe.
The 29″ inseam is a little longer than ankle length, but not quite full length on me, and they have a subtle taper at the ankle. I typically prefer to show a bit of ankle with my sneakers, but trends are moving away from that look this fall. I still wear my straight ankle jeans, but these look a little more fashion-forward to me right now.

Since the shoes are so bold, I kept the rest of the outfit neutral. This black short-sleeved sweatshirt is from Evereve, and I love the zipper details along the sides. The short sleeves add a fun element of juxtaposition, and it has a nice relaxed fit. It runs true to size; this is the small.

Pop of Red: Red Pumps
For a dressier look that incorporates a pop of red into an otherwise neutral outfit, I styled red patent leather slingback pumps with wide leg jeans and a black and white striped sweater vest. I love the juxtaposition of the red pumps and the faded wide leg jeans.
FYI, these jeans are on sale at Bloomingdale’s, and they’re fully stocked at motherdenim.com.

And I also wore the same sweater with a denim skirt and red pointy toe flats, for an of-the moment dressy-casual look that can take you so many places. You can see more about both of these looks in THIS POST.

Pop of Red: Red Sweatshirt
For a much bigger pop of red, I recently picked up this LNA half zip sweatshirt at Evereve. It has a cropped fit with reverse seam details and an adjustable bungee hem, and it’s super soft and cozy inside. It’s the perfect ‘elevated sweatshirt’ for pairing with jeans and sneakers for my casual days running errands and working from home, and I love the bold shade of red.

LNA Joey Fleece Half Zip (S) // MOTHER The Rider Slim Straight Ankle Jeans (29) // Vince Oasis in Milk/Night Blue (also at Nordstrom & Bloomies) (39) // Jenny Bird hoops
I wore this sweatshirt last night with light wash jeans and P448 sneakers, but I also like how it pairs with dark wash jeans. These are the MOTHER The Rider Slim Straight Ankle Jeans from the #NSale back in July, and they’re made of super soft and lightweight stretch denim that is so comfortable.
These have a 10 1/2″ front rise, which is higher than the Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans but lower than some of the others I’ve tried recently. I actually like the 10 1/2″ rise for me, so maybe I need to look for these in a lighter wash.

This time, I wore a lower profile sneaker, also with a retro flair. The Vince Oasis is made of luxe leather and a gum sole, and I love how the Night Blue accents tie into the inky dark wash jeans.

I hope this post gives you some ideas for incorporating a pop of red into your everyday fall outfits. I’m sure I’ll continue to play around with it and find more red pieces as the season progresses.
How are you wearing this trending color for fall?

I have a pair of casual leather red sneakers that I just wore Saturday for a casual dinner outing with my sibs. I wore them with medium wash jeans and a lightweight gray button-up cardigan. I also have red flats, and am looking for red boots. I love red shoes.
The link in your email for this post goes to an older post from December 2023.
Same thing happened to me. I went back and clicked again and gave me today’s post.
I love the trend. In fact, I just bought the Nordstrom brand of red Mary Janes. I have been trying to find a brand that my finicky feet can wear with an insert, and they are so cute. Now I think I need an athletic pair. But then I saw you wearing the Vince pair, and I remembered I bought that in the green trim last spring. Thanks for the reminder!
I love the pops of red! I have several red/burgundy handbags that really enjoy. I especially love wearing red closer to the holidays, but I am trying to incorporate more red now! Red is great with grey, olive green, and all shades of blue. Enjoy this gorgeous weather! I thought of you this weekend when my granddaughter’s soccer team played Owen J. Roberts (they lost 2-1)!
I’ve got my eye out for a red bag; I can’t believe I don’t have one. This weather really IS amazing. And how fun that you were watching our home team this weekend!
Hi there, the link in the email takes you to an old post. I had to get here via FB. Thanks for everything.
Love the way you styled the red. All of your outfits look great on you. Have a great day!!
The link in your email took me to a post from last December. Fortunately, I was able to find the correct link. I really like your pop of red with the sneakers and then the red sweatshirt outfit. I like wearing red, but the jury is out on whether or not I’ll purchase a red pair of shoes.
Love the red sweatshirt! I need to get one!
I like the red sneakers especially the red Adidas. I’m going to try to find cheap ones though because they will probably be out next spring. I really shouldn’t care but I rather spend more money on a neutral color. I just saw a YouTube video about how “all white “sneakers are not trending.
They aren’t trending, but I don’t feel like they look dated either. I suppose that depends on where you live and how trend-driven your style is, but I still like my all white sneakers. 🙂
I’m wearing mine too. I just bought mine this past spring. Someone suggested changing the shoe laces. I might do that for a change.
Red looks beautiful on you! My favorite color! For my 70th birthday my daughter gifted me a red classic Chanel bag. To say I love that handbag would be an understatement!
Wow, what an AMAZING gift! A classic, for sure,
Hi JoLynne—Is the red sweatshirt a blue red or orangey red? It looks blue red on my screen but in person may be different. I would love to see some red/burgundy handbag options (preferably with silver or gunmetal hardware) which I’m surprised you didn’t include. Maybe another post.
I’d say it’s more of a blue red.
I just received a pair of red slingbacks that I plan on wearing with jeans and dressier pants. I’m also on the lookout for a red handbag.
Red looks really good and you. I need a very lightweight sweatshirt for my climate and love the red one. Is it lightweight ?
I’d say it’s in between. Not super thin.
Love red shoes. Right now I only have my new red salt water sandals I bought in the Soring for spring and Summer. They are the new style and love them. I have other colors in the older style from other years. They are flat and no cushion but love salt waters and have worn them for as long as I can remember. I love red with light blue and all white tops and black and white stripe too. Red with blue is too 4 th of July for me this time of year. Love both your sneakers though.
I just ordered the Evereve sweatshirt , thanks for the great find! I definitely love red and need to pick up more for my wardrobe. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those dark blue Mother Riders are super-flattering on you. I also have the “Right On” wash. It’s lighter, but has the same rise, same stretchy material, and same finished hem. Love them both!
FIRST I MUST SAY YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE!! OK I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS.
1. DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE WALKING IN WIDE LEG JEANS? WHEN I WALK THEY MAKE THIS NOISE.
2. DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE WALKING IN LONG BLUE JEAN SKIRTS? THE SAME THING HAPPENS TO ME IN THE LONG SKIRTS. IT MAKES
NOISES.
